If we had a meet up next year, where do you think it should be?

While I'm not interested in Cons to be honest, I voted for California and Chicago, simply because of the locations. I also voted other because I'm all in favour of arranging a meet-up around another, non-con, event of some sort. What exactly that might be, I'm not sure but I'll look into it.

Uuuh...I voted for everything but hosting it and not interested >.>

Suppose that didn't really help huh - hehe

I'm all for a meet up, but for me the restriction is more around work.

Pretty much any time during the late spring early summer can work, but that's about it.

Next year is going to be nuts for me though so not really sure what to expect.

Chicago if only to catch an autograph from Jim Butcher.

I'm with Droo. I find the centering around a Con to be a bit superfluous. I assume tickes are needed to enter these things, and as always I begrudge paying for something I don't want to be at - this includes most films my girlfriend picks but I'm sorta tied to those ones by default.

While DragonCon this year is definitely not an opion for me now, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to do one in 2010.

We don't specifically have to go to a Con. I guess we just suggested Con's because there is a lot of geeky stuff to see and do, and I guess also because they are usually in big cities which should theoretically be easy to get to. I suppose we will see this September how well the Con venue is suited, and how much we all enjoy it :)

I am not against doing something that isn't Con related, if people have suggestions.

There's always the notion of a group tour/trip. Everyone flies in to one place, gets on a bus and goes to a few different locations. Or, everyone flies in to one place, we all have a group vacation together, then go our separate ways.

One of these days, Yellowstone. One of these days.

And Hawaii too, I think. My buddy Eric keeps getting flown out there for work and I keep getting jealous.

Maybe it's just 'cause I'm from WY and been there often, but I'm not overly excited for Yellowstone...however...a huuuge camping trip would ROCK. Same with Hawaii :) I have two friends that just moved out there and I can't wait to visit.

Looking at flight prices (to get a rough estimation)... Hawaii could potentially cost me an assload, depending on when we went.

But either that or camping would be cool with me. Just need to pick a place/time and get people on board.

Alternatively you schmucks could come to Europe for once :mneh

If I can get into the US for what I'm paying (about $460), it stands to reason that you guys should be able to get out of the US for a similar price :mneh

:D I voted for San Diego because I'm a lazy bum and go every year anyway.

For some reason I think a trip to like Disney World over in FL would be oodles of fun too but I'm just a giant kid at heart.

And while I'd love to make plans for next year, it's almost up in the air for me at this point given how everything is around here (may not have a job at that point) and so travel may have to be limited. *pouts*

We could always go to my mom's. She lives in Nevada, about an hour and a half south of Reno, so if anyone has the gambling urge there's that. She's also got horses to ride, and lots of land to camp on. Not to mention she's in a valley, so there are mountains all around, and Lake Tahoe a little less than two hours away :)

Not to mention Elk steaks! Oh yeah, and she LOVES to drink ^_^;

Camping would be fun. Nothing funnier than when nerds are forced out into the open air and direct sunlight.

Yeah I dunno about going to Europe you guys seem like flakes. ;)

I voted SD because we'll probably be going there anyway. After this year I doubt I'll be able to figure anything else...unless a camping trip in Nevada is planned in which case we might drive. We also have a friend here in WA who owns a campground and its really cool. :D

We like camping. :D

I'm like Xi, everything depends on work *shakes fist*

Though I voted Chicago, because I could even potentially drive there, but I don't really care. I'm not much of a CON person myself but I'd might with you guys at the bars and what not LOL (still looking into going to ATL this year, still up in the air though).

Hey, I cross the pond at least every two years :p Gotta visit my sister and make a few more stops in the process, you know? :p Though this time it proably won't be for another 3 years, since I'm planning on saving even more and making it for the 2012 Olympics cause that'd just be fun.

San Diego would be fun too, I know some folks had thought about it in the past and if not doing Comic-con all 3 days, there's always Sea World and stuff.

I did that and you shmucks stood me up.

That wasn't my fault :( and I am not all of Europe.

But if the rest of you don't want to see the amazing sites of Europe stay in America :rolleyes :mneh

Ahem for that matter we have a huge backyard and ya'll can just camp out there if you want.

Actually that would be awesome. :D Except we only have one bathroom. :uhoh

If it's somewhere in the states, I can see about getting my parents time-share. I know they've used one in Nevada before (in case we do camp at Christins' mums. I do not camp. Ever.)

It should be in Canada, because everyones money is worth more here, and Niagara Falls is uber fun. :mischief

Camping in Nevada sounds fun, since there seems to be a variety of cool stuff nearby.

Why don't you camp, Mandy?

How expensive is it to eat out in the states? I've heard its really cheap but nobody's given me any numbers. If it helps I love steak!

Reason I ask is my mum and dad own an apartment in Tenerife but we can exchange for a small fee for any other place in the world where the company has a resort. So all that would really be needed is spending money and flights.
