I was looking over some stuff, trying to see how I'nu, with his growing relationship with the Alliance, would become a bigger part. I'nu as a sort of folky engineer, working, tinkering, and fiddling with his junk parts and archiac vessels could establish some sort of low-cost, highly functional interceptor.

The idea is putting together parts of older vessels from the Galactic Republic of the past, such as the Jedi starfighter/interceptor, Naboo, and modern ones such as the X-wing and A-wing. However, I'd need a partner in this that is involved in the Rebellion directly to push the idea so that this could be a strong vessel used on the battlefield.

Not much more than the ground idea has been established, but if anyone is interested in the project or has some suggestion please throw it in. I think it might add an economical dynamic to the Alliance's struggle to consolidate aswell as progress in the Civil War.

Are you thinking that the ship would be a one off? Or the prototype to some sort of "recycled" fighter that could be built in numbers based off older fighters.

I could totally see the Rebellion being interested in a "junker" fighter series, but not sure why they would want a single fighter.

Just trying to find out some more information...

Definately not a single fighter. It would be a prototype for more. Haha, I wouldn't expect I'nu to put any effort into something like a one-off.

This is an excellent Idea. As the Rebellion's spreads and grows we will need every idea and every ship we can get our hands on.

I also extended a hand as using this prototype displaying as a kick-start to the Squadron. Maybe one could test drive it, or be called in to test it out? Anything to help up getting some activity back into the squadron side of things.

Well X-wings, Y-wings, Z-95 Headhunters, and ARC-170 fighters are all getting pretty outdated, with B-wings and A-wings, with the soon to be introduction of the E-wing fighter being the frontline of the Rebellion's fighter core.

This is making me very interested too now that I think about it. If we are doing a massed produce "junk" fighter then I think the roles of space superority fighter or bomber is out as that would use specialized equipment. I think a general purpose starfighter to be used as a A-wing supplement in space superiority or as a bomber escort in addition to convoy escort duty would be a fighter the Rebellion could use.

Ok, for example, I just took a 5 minute break from writing this post to compose a new design fighter, from older parts.

I call it a trainwing, and it's primary purpose is to serve as a trainer for pilots, gunners, and to be used as a fighter in convoy escorts or for planetery defense, with a secondary role as a frontline supplemental fighter.

Armament is a triple blaster cannon in the nose, two proton torpedo launchers with a total of six torpedoes, and a double blaster cannon in the rear cockpit.

It has a X-wing fuselage with two Y-wing nacelles on the sides, and four ARC-170 stabilizer foils on the nacelles to help stable the fighter in atmospheric flight. In addition, a fin in the back helps keep the nacelles on in case a forward section is hit, and again for atmospheric stability. Speed is about that of an X-wing, a little slower though, and it has shields and good hull armor. No astromech though, and no advanced gear, sensors, or comms equipment, just the basics.

That is pretty close to the idea that I have. Now alls to do is put it into play with a thread. So, if everyone on board with the idea I think I might be posting up a thread about this so we can start working with this.

So if anyone wants to play it out, I got the thread up. "Pulling a Bindo" (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19309)
