Droo and I have been lamenting the lack of 'fighter pilots, after both of us binging on BSG, so who wants to get the Shadows and Rogues back into the air? Nuggets and vets alike, sound off.

Bette never left.
Everyone else left. :cry
*kicks a can*
So that's one for the Shadows.
We might also split up pilots, have more squadrons with more NPCs in them, and one or two PCs running the show? Just a thought.
I always liked "Hellfire" Squadron as a name.

Gundark (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gundark) Squadron would be cool, right? NPCs on the Squadron's makes sense, cause we are probably never gonna have enough pilots to fill up one squadron, let alone one squadron for each faction.
:hug for Bette, for never leaving.

Hmmm. I seem to be missing the fighter pilot figure.
Count me in on one side or the other.

I really don't like the idea of splitting up the pilots over multiple squadrons. I mean, yes, let's fill out any empty seats with NPCs and, like we did with Shadow Squadron, NPC a player when he/she is absent from a roleplay, but otherwise let's remain tightly knit. Boo for writing NPCs! Hooray for character interaction!
And yes, I'm totally up for this!

With four of us we could just all play on the same side and then beef out the rest of the squadron with NPCs? Or maybe have two squadrons. Shadows and... nuggets.

Four a squadron would be okay. Any less and I'd be bored witless.

Well I was thinking about putting Bette in another squadron, but I don't know.
:cry I just don't want to hope for a completed RP and have those hopes dashed again.

I seem to recall you used to have a... Rogue Squadron pilot? Jamo Jakatta?
:mneh
All right, all right, I'm in for Shadow Squadron goodness. I don't know that I can make any sort of 'timeline' for Bette and have it make any sense, but I'm loathe to just 'reset' her.
So who's in the Imperial StarFighter Corps with me?

I don't want to play a Rogue all by myself :(

Bette will beat you into shape. I'm not sure about stealing the term 'nugget' but... we need something similar. :D

I think three is a better number than four; that puts a PC pilot in charge of each flight. That way, if someone isn't posting you can just skip over the actions of their flight; plus it means you're surrounded by NPCs so that you're a little less limited on the actions you can take. Also, that way all the PC characters are the senior members of the Squadron, so they have a little more status.
If you're concerned about not having enough Players to interact with, then you could always add another squadron - provide Rogue Squadron with an A-Wing or a B-Wing Squadron (or something like "Wraith Squadron") for support; add in a few extra squadrons to turn Shadow Squadron into an elite wing (like the 181st or something); etc.
At the very least, each player should have an NPC wingman, which would cap the squadron number at six.
The Corporate Sector plan that's going on at the minute is meant to create opportunities for Rogue Squadron specifically. The Corporate Sector will be protecting the convoys that the Rebels have been raiding lately, with a mix of small-ish starships and Droid Fighters. The plan that I was working on with Miri was to have Rogue Squadron deployed as part of a rebel unit operating in the area, trying to continue the hit-and-run missions against those convoys.
And don't worry, Jen - you're not in Rogue Squadron all on your own! :hug

I made a character once with the intent of it being a fighter pilot for the Rebels, but somehow it never quite happened. I think a lack of activity is what killed it. Regardless, I'm in with him if we can get stuff going.

Starfighters! I'm down.
I was wondering when the Shadows would once again take to the skies.

Quoted for Great Justice. This is similar to how I originally played out Travis' fighter squadrons minus the other PCs (keeping track of 12+ NPCs at a time is brutal). I left a lot of combat details to flight leaders and had their wingmen assist when needed.
As for planning something I've got an idea to keep the Shadows on the front lines. This is assuming the squadron still operates out of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Termagant and Tal Kellison holds the rank of Line Captain. We could tack Tal's Battle Squadron to Travis' Systems Force allowing the Shadows to jump into any battle where the Systems Force operates. Right now that fleet is engaged in the Bothan Sector where the Alliance offensive is taking place presenting the oppourtunity for the Shadows to go up against those Rebel scrubs.

Would there be any interest in a Rebel group of privateer flyers, aka people who don't have snub fighters but maybe their own ships & that sort of thing, and work sort of like a black sheep squadron? I've always wanted to get Sanis involved in fighter-style shenanigans using the Layla.

I'm up for creating an Imperial fighter pilot style character. Not sure I would want him in shadow squadron though. I don't know of many characters that player bomber pilots, so I thought I would do a character for a TIE Bomber squadron. Maybe one that Shadow Squadron is tasked to protect on a mission?

I was planning on building a new starfighter/interceptor for the Rebellion so maybe that could be a jump start into bringing some activity.

I think the Raids/Rogues/Arithmetic thread collapsed under an overwhelming assault from the lack of free time fairy. If people still wanna keep going we can probably get the ball rolling again, but it might be worth letting it lie for now and trying to get going with some of these ideas instead.

We going to all do one squadron, or split up into rebs and imps?

Bette will be splitting her time between Shadow Squadron (for fights and drinks) and Hellfire Squadron (a training squadron).
I need someone who might want to play another flight instructor with me. :)

Raids/Rogues/Arithmetic was Kelly Perris, myself, Donut and a couple of other Rogue pilots, with Travis intended to fly the Imperials. We got to the point of launching, and then had one of those annoying moments where everyone was waiting for someone else to post, and no one actually did it.
I posted an actual launching post (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18170&page=3) a few weeks ago; if people still want to carry on with it then I suggest they get their backsides over to the thread and post. ;)
Edit: We didn't specifically mark out the roster for Rogue Squadron or anything, so if there are rebel pilots itching to get involved with stuff and want to jump in as a pilot in Rogue Squadron or Valkyrie Squadron (A-Wings), you're more than welcome. :)

The Shadows still have Skirmish Over Sullust going.
Sort of.
I'll bump it again in case those who were in it want to post.

If I may, I'd let to throw Aros into the mix on the Rogue Squadron. Never did fleeting before, but I'm interested how it'd play out.
