Though there are a lot of player characters here, we make up only a small part of the population of our respective settings. To fill up the galaxy (or world), we create NPCs, often throw-away characters who don't get the same amount of attention as the 'main characters'. Sometimes, however, the NPCs become so vivid and detailed that they almost become main characters themselves, even if they only appear in one thread.

Are there any NPCs you re-use on a regular basis, or that you have read about in others' threads, who stand out to you as more than just background noise?

Kimiiki Crei!

He's been the most interesting and well-developed I've come across so far.

I don't have any NPCs myself since they tend to grow too large and I end up making real characters out of them.

Out of curiosity.. which of your chars started out as an NPC?

Most of my pirates.
Taman Danar
Berit Selki
Fionn Halcyon

Not so much that I used them as NPCs but that they grew so much that I had to turn them into proper chars.

I ended up turning my Brotherhood NPCs into characters I used in a catchall "Brotherhood" account: Tron, Geryon, and Boomer. Even gave them each a Wiki page. It was a fun way of putting some of my extra mutant character ideas into the story and filling in some of the minor villain roles, but they each ended up being pretty interesting in their own right.

Along with Kimiki Crei, I think you have to include the two Jasons Russard (Estelle's father and Old Man Russard). Even though they've both got accounts now, they bloomed out of Estelle's backstory, essentially, then really came into their own with the storyline surrounding Estelle's capture.

My favorite NPCs to use are Tick and Tock, Sasseeri's twin Twi'lek bodyguards.

I can't think of any others I use with any frequency. >_>

s'Il even made them a sig once, but I lost it. :cry

My favourite to read is Crei.

For what I make...? Well, its complicated, because sometimes I get anal and someone with even a smidgen of dialogue gets at least a paragraph of notes and such, and other times they just pop out of nowhere and are fleshed out while I write. Needless to say, I have a lot of fragmentary notes on my computer. ^_^;

I think the NPCs I've had the most fun with have been those in the World of Darkness setting... for instance, Roland Salisbury :cool

Oh yeah - I love the WoD NPCs you've come up with. Of course, some have their own accounts now, like Roland. I really liked Emilie (poor Emilie) which is one I made up... :uhoh

Well, Roland started out as an NPC so he still counts to me :mneh

Emilie was good too! I enjoyed slaughtering her ^_^

He was the first that came to mind but I didn't post that because I don't consider him a mere NPC anymore, he's sooo much more than an NPC!

Crei, definitely tops the list.

I like Crix also. Kazaar uses him a fair bit and gives him recurring gigs in number of his threads.

ps) thanks for the Russards comments, Kale :)

Cullen is a pretty good NPC (even though he's dead). A lot revolves around him in the Mutants, Unite world. :)
