View Full Version : Gathering of the Alliance

So, this idea has been bounced around a little already, but I just wanted to open it up to some others before getting the ball rolling.

The idea is that the Rebellion needs to take stock of what and who they have. A meeting would be held on Mon Calamari, where we could discuss In Character how to progress the efforts and goals of the Rebellion.

As well as existing characters, I'd welcome anyone who wants to throw in a new character - whether military or otherwise - to debate what course of action the Alliance should take. If anyone is interested in playing a representative of the Alliance Advisory Council, that would also be cool (check out the roster on http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18828 and PM me if you'd like to know what little has been said about these characters so far).

My hope is that there will be a lot of differing viewpoints present and that we can have a good old debate about war, peace and all that jazz :D

General Dan is one of the Rebel Expeditionary force commanders if you need a name for that.

Eluna Thals is an Alliance Intel Operative in Phoenix Cell. Byl Laprovik was also in Phoenix Cell, but he's believed either killed or turned rogue or something bad.

I'd love to participate in this :)

I'm thinking that it would mostly be the.. brass, I guess (?) who would be present at a meeting like this. In which case, Dan would certainly have an invite since he's an Admiral.. but I don't know if Eluna would be high enough up the ladder to warrant her presence. Intel would probably have departmental sub-directors there, rather than just operatives.

Yeah, she wouldn't have business there, especially since she's generally in the field.

I would also consider making a "high military" official who was basically a defected Imperial if you'd like that sort of thing.

Sounds like a great idea. There aren't a lot of high/command-level Alliance members right now, so anyone you'd like to contribute would be welcome :) That goes for anyone else reading this too. So long as you post here and let us know who/what you'd like to play, so we don't get our wires crossed.

Has anyone called shotgun on any of the Advisory Council as of yet? Given that we're liberating Bothawui and such, having the Bothan representative to the council available to have some sort of involvement would be kinda cool, if anyone is up for that (or I guess I could do it, if no one else is interested... :uhoh)

How are we treating the representatives in terms of their home politics? Presumably they're the equivalent of Senators, so the Bothans, Sullustans and Mon Calamari would each have a separate Head of State back home?

No one else has called dibs on the Advisory Council. I have the Celleste Starborn account but all others are up for grabs.

They are essentially representatives for their respective planets, so they wouldn't be the Heads of State (or whatever equivalent each planet has) - more like an ambassador for the planet's leader and people. Like I said earlier, I have used each member of the Council as an NPC in an RP previously so I have given them some personality, but only very basic. I'd be happy to give a brief account of what has been already mentioned about them, if anyone did want to play one of the Council.

The Bothan was one of the most vocal members of the Council, but also the most cautious. When Grace was trying to petition the Council to rescue Dasquian, he objected firmly on the grounds that it would be suicide to try and rescue anyone from the Inquisitors. Here's a couple of choice quotes :mneh

Oruo'rel all but rolled his eyes at the naivety he perceived in the room. “Idealism is all good and well in theory, but it will not win us this war. If I were in the same position as Belargic, I would hope that the Alliance would have the dignity and foresight to realize when to back down, instead of pursuing a course that - whilst morally satisfying on the surface - can only lead to further loss of life, something we cannot afford to spare in these trying times... not to mention the possibility of captured agents divulging restricted information.”

Torrsk Oruo'rel set down his pad and pen, and shook his head. “It continues to confuse me, that Mon Razien should want such a sentimental woman in charge of something as shrewd as Alliance Intelligence. Following emotion, instinct, whim – that's precisely what the Jedi do, and look where it got them.”

Ixgis Habas held up a hand and spoke in his ever-slow voice, the pace of which infuriated Torrsk at times. “We must not be too quick to judge Director Van-Derveld.”

“Regardless, she should be monitored closely from now on,” Oruo'rel replied, his tone almost snapping. He held no love for Grace and was of the mind that even a third-rate Bothan spy could out-class her.

That is his only appearance so far... so there isn't much you would have to keep in mind whilst playing him. Just a generally shrewd demeanour I guess.

Captain Untouchable
Feb 9th, 2009, 08:29:10 PM
He thinks that Dasquian should be left to die, and that Grace is too much of a moody woman to do her new job properly?

I like him already. :mneh

I'll happily take him on, assuming there aren't any objections. Presumably this is all happening after the liberation of Bothawui, so Torrsk will have the Alliance's latest patch of real-estate to be smug about? :mischief

Dasquian Belargic

He's yours and yes it would be after Bothawui, Dasquian's trial etc... so he will be justifiably smug. Heartless bastard :shakefist

Salutations, Madame Starborn. it is a joyful relief to finally see a little class being injected into this otherwise woefully rugged and vagrant band.

It saddens me to think that these are all that we have fighting on our behalf to convey the galaxy out of the darkness into which it has fallen. Fortunately for all, the Bothan homelands are liberated; perhaps between the memory of Alderaan and the beacon of Bothawui to guide us, we can finally do justice to our name, and become an Alliance to Restore the Republic once again, rather than this mere rabble rebellion.

Too many politicians buzzing in my ear. We're counting our nunas before they hatch. The first thing that our so-called governing council should do is ratify a broad conscription order. We need soldiers if this populist rebellion is going to afford a nest for these buzzards to squawk from.

Anna Fernandez
Feb 10th, 2009, 02:08:09 AM
:lol You can't conscript people, you're a REBEL army with no real holdings. And if you conscript beings off the streets on planets that are sympathetic to your cause, they soon won't be.

....pretend Jane Starborn said that... :uhoh

Icky? Is that the most elloquent adjective that our mighty Director of Intelligence is able to muster. Its bad enough that a woman - and such a bald one at that - was appointed to replace our dear Mister Belargic, but could we not have found someone with at least a little more culture and decorum?

I think Daglas might be there. Maybe not prominent, but there. Dron Force would be an important tool going forward. So I think it makes sense for him to be there to speak for them if needed.

Just my opinion.
