James is going on a work-related surf trip - he'll be gone for a little over a month and I'm trying to create a cd for him of upbeat songs that'll help lift his spirits when he's in the (inevitably) crappy hostels and motels that always come with these trips.

So: what songs always lift your spirits and make you wanna boogie?

I have a mix-CD somewhere, that I made for the specific purpose of cheering myself up when I was feeling awful. I don't remember the entire tracklist, but this is some of it:

ELO - Mr Blue Sky (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=98P-gu_vMRc)
The Stampeders - Sweet City Woman (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0IRjl3SWC2U)
Alphabeat - Fascination (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QvD6maGRh7c) :dance
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=58CJih1iYC0)
Journey - Any Way You Want It (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LFjKFDvyJ80)
Peter Bjorn and John - Young Folks (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=51V1VMkuyx0)
They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse in Your Soul (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6kJD2N2gvqw)
The Jam - Town Called Malice (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=r3fDXsPE0Sc)
Junior Senior - Move Your Feet (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OKcDa0Kp2K8)
Justice - D.A.N.C.E (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xWV4TIb776Q)
Pendulum - Hold Your Colour (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qtD1IpH5a5Q)
Sigur Ros - Olsen Olsen (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=go8Jc5Fx71I) (for early morning/late night chillout... the flute is :love)

Some are superhappy, others just make me want to dance like crazy.

..that's all I can think of for now. Plus anything by Daft Punk.

Striptease - Hawksley Workman
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1zywSttByM) Bak et Halleluja - Kaizers Orchestra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0TdDtt4_RQ)
Ompa Til Du Dør - Kaizers Orchestra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kop_mCyduTE)
Renegades of Funk - Rage Against The Machine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqWP1rsAMrw)
Killing in the Name - Rage Against The Machine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkuOAY-S6OY)
How I Could Just Kill A Man - Rage Against The Machine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGoJ4UEJs9I)
Take California - Propellerheads (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Iuboeo2kws)
Spybreak! - Propellerheads (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-aqy9BYqDM)
Let's Make Out - Does It Offend You, Yeah? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6_ubiAzoSk)
Monday Tuesday WTF - Fake Shark - Real Zombie! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6_ubiAzoSk)

...But you know, I's always boogie'n. I almost went in to listing chill songs when I got to Propellerheads (because my next thought is usually Thievery Corporation after that) but then I realized it. This is just what I pulled off the top of my head, and I could probably go further, given some thought.

Also, Prozzak, Eiffel 65, Daft Punk and some others make me boogie like high school memories. :D

And thanks all for the wicked good recs. He's got three great discs to listen to while he's gone now. ^__^
