I'd PM you mine now Han but with it being a UK number, I'm not sure how it will work in the US (I know it will work but I don't know what kind of codes you will have to add on to dial it) - but if you want to PM me your number, I will give you a txt when some of us are out and about!

I assume the majority will be hanging with Lilaena, so I probably could get her number instead to find out what is being planned. Not sure if we in the US will get charged an insane amount to text and call international.

I don't think it would cost you anything to receive a call from me - but getting Lilaena's number would work just as well. There are plenty of us going with phones, I think, so we should be able to get in contact one way or another!

Jenny, intl. roaming charges are usually lethal (don't ask Mark about his UK data bill some time). I'd keep your phone around as a contact list and not much else. My plan has a crapload of minutes I never use, so you can always borrow one of our phones to make a US call.

I have unlimited texting, so that's what I always do. If you can text the USA for free, use that instead.

I think I have everyones numbers that I need (people in the same hotel as me, anyway). I can't wait to see my phone bill - I think I'm going to top my 456 text record!

I'm not too worried about overspending anyway since my phone is "pay as you go" - i.e. it's only loaded with a certain amount of call-time, and I can't go over that amount without physically calling up to add more ^_^;

I am looking at temporarily buying a little upgrade for the phone which would significantly reduce calling costs, for calling home, but we'll see.

ahahahaah, no kidding. I shared that suspicion, so I actually took a look the rates for calling FROM outside the European Union TO US numbers (I also have "pay as you go", as Jen). But what I did not expect was just how fucked those charges really were. Have a look and laugh at these prices (for convenience, I converted it to dollar values)

Calling US phone from US: $5.78 per minute
Receiving call from US# while in US: $3.30 per minute
Sending SMS to US# while in US: $1.03
Data traffic while in the US: $18.57 per MB :lol!!!

Edit: Hey at least receiving SMS does not cost anything.:rolleyes

Think I found a solution to the phone problems. Available at all major airports in the US at Airport Wireless (http://www.airportwireless.com/) stores. Press Release here (http://newsblaze.com/story/2009070108460300003.pnw/topstory.html).

Basically, it is a prepaid SIM card that you can insert into an unlocked cell phone, and it gives you a US number with favorable call rates. I am leaning toward $20 Unlimited Plan, which gives me free calls during the nights / weekend, and free text messaging.

This sort of thing might be good for Jenny as well, as long as she has an operator unlocked cellphone with triband (US frequency 1900).
