View Full Version : It's DINNER TIME!

Zeke

The temple of the Greater Jedi Order rose high above the Coruscant skyline, a marker for natives and outsiders alike as they navigated about their day. Few people actually had any business there, aside from politicians and Jedi, so traffic to and from the temple itself was scarce. However, the pedestrians and motorists were flying by it constantly, as it was the nearest and greatest landmark to another smaller, but no less important, building.

Master Yoghurt's Bar and Grill was famous for its good cooking, questionable beverages, and host of eccentric patrons. Jedi were in and out frequently, using the B&G as a means to interact with the populace and find out the goings on of the world outside their own reports.

Zeke, the mellow Jedi Knight with ponytail and baseball cap, handed over his dual lightsabers as he entered and took up his usual posting at the end of the C-shaped bar where he could best see the crowd and spot out interesting beings to talk to. He'd met an OCD magician, a pizza delivery boy, and even Sith in this bar and managed to have meaningful and enlightening conversations with them all. Who would he meet today? He ordered himself a drink and a plate of food and waited patiently with a wide, unerasable smile on his face.

Wei turned around on the bar stool. He didn't sit at the bar usually--he never drank. He never liked the bar. He could only ever talk to two people at a bar, but at a table he could chat with tons of people at once.

He got his lo mein at the bar. The barkeep tapped him on the shoulder to let him know. Idly, the Jedi adjusted his glasses and pulled the chopsticks from his sleeve.

Zeke walked in. It was good to see a friend. He'd been away too long on a various missions and it was good to be home. Wei waved to Zeke to come sit with him before the place next to him was taken up.

Dakota waved back to the happy smiling fellow waving her way. It didn't matter that he wasn't particularly waving to her per-say, he probably should be, so what did it matter?

She tap-tapped her way to Wei's location on five-inch heels that were simply fabulous (Denali would love them!) and propped her enormous purse on the bar.

"Hi" she flashed a stunning bright smile. "Who you waving to?"

Her purse moved of its own volition, it's belly rolling disconcertingly until a small, fluffy head nosed its way to the opening. "This is Mattie" Ko said, introducing Matilda. "Can I have some bottled water please?" she asked the barman who was watching her accostment of Wei with amusement.

Kyle Krogen
Jan 11th, 2009, 03:21:36 AM
Another day in paradise right? No. Being on Coruscant was the last place sixteen year old Kyle Krogen wanted to be. This was the planet that abandoned him, this was the planet that had turned him into a monster and a killer. He could say he did it to survive, but really he probably could have avoided all the sins of the underworld that had sucked him in. Sure he would have had to die to keep his purity, but at least he could have gone to heaven and found happiness instead of getting the world's dirt all over him. And it never washes off.

But the Jedi Temple was here, which meant he had to walk the same streets he had crawled through as a child, only now he did it now as a Jedi rather then a street urchin. He saw familiar faces in the alleys, faces he hoped did not recognize him back. He liked it very much when Master Wei took him off planet for their missions, like when they had gone to that backwater planet and he had battled that giant creature in the treetops. He became a warrior that day, however the Jedi Council did not look fondly on his aggressive stance and denied him knighthood. Pity. Kyle was so sure he had done the right thing in the situation.

Spinning idly on his barstool he spun till he could see his master down the bar, sitting with another man. Kicking off the bar again he spun a little more, until he was facing the bar and his cup of coke came into view. A bubble floated to the top and popped on the surface, all caught in his deep blue eyes. Breathing heavily he blew upwards, knocking his golden locks out of his face and then he kicked again and spun a little more. This was not exactly entertaining, but it beat being out on the street dodging ghosts from his past.

Natia idly walks into Yog's and glances around as she starts to unclip her lightsaber, her two daggers and her blaster which she calmly hands over. Dressed in a dark blue leather bodysuit, with dark blue knee high leather boots, dark blue leather gloves and a black hooded cloak.

A quick glance around told the young lady that there are other Jedi there, at least they were Jedi when she was last here, but chances are they still are Jedi. She herself had just gotten back to Coruscant from being away on a trip of sorts.

Walking up to the bar, she orders an ale which is handed to her and she heads over Zeke

"Hey there" she says as she sits down next to him.

Zeke

"Hey, Natia. It's been a good long while." His food arrived and he began to push the food around with his utensils, waiting on the steam rising to abate so he could eat it. "Wei's getting himself in trouble again with women." He lowered his voice before continuing. "I'll never understand why straight-laced married-men like him always seem to attract these types without meaning it."

Wei never could understand how a straight-laced married-man like him always seemed to attract these types of women without meaning to. Of course his wife was long gone. No one ever heard from her again or even what happened. By then he had just given up. She was pronounced legally dead, and along with that his marriage had ended.

Life was simpler without that marriage, but it left a lasting impression on him, and his ring finger. There was still a place on it where his wedding band used to be.

Wei did his best to be nonchalant with the lady. "My friend over there. I've not been back here in a while and it's good to see an old friend."

She was making him nervous. She was beautiful. It was just too bad he was never any good at talking to women. It made him wonder how he ever wound up married in the first place. He waved hello to the small animal. "Hi there, Mattie."

He also waved hello to Kyle. He wondered how the young Jedi was doing.

Wei turned about on his stool and started in on his dinner, looking up at the barkeep when he brought the water for Dakota. "I'm Wei Wu Wei. It's nice to meet you," he said when he finished the first mouthful of food.

Dakota reached her hand across, her bracelets clinking prettily as she did so, and took Wei's hand shaking it in hello. This caused his next mouthful of lo mien to fall off his chopsticks. "Im Dakota-welcome back from where-ever you've been."
Releasing his hand just as quick as she'd grasped it, Ko reached into her bag and pulled out a sparkle-studded dog dish with a flourishing "M" inked in its center. She poured the water in it for Mattie and bent the purse lip downwards so the tiny dog could lap from his cosy nook within.

Dakota then turned her huge blue eyes up to survey the room, many faces she knew by sight, some by name - but none she recognised by acquaitance. "You seen my sister tonight? She looks just like me" she intoned with a smile. Wei began to shake his head "no" so Ko shot another query at him. "What a bout Figsy? You seen him?" She turned suddenly pensive, "I think he's avoiding me..."

"That it has been Zeke"

Natia glances over at Wei and smiles as she shakes her head.

"It's really hard to say why he attracts ladies. But I will admit, there is something about him that is attractive."

Zeke
Jan 13th, 2009, 12:40:09 PM
He shrugged merrily.

"I don't know if I should help him or not, though if Kyle Krogen doesn't get over here and act social, I'mma hafta go over there and be social, and he does not want that." There was a certain amount of mischief in his voice that spoke of spectacle, the type where someone makes a scene over somebody who doesn't want it. "I'll order him a Toilet Duck."

Wei Wu Wei
Jan 13th, 2009, 08:45:50 PM
Wei felt a disturbance in the Force: Like someone had mentioned the Jedi Toilet Duck. He shuddered.

"Figsy? Master D'an?"

He had no idea what she was talking about. "And I don't think I would have missed a second woman like you. Even if you are a twin, you're a very singular woman."

Dakota Gue
Jan 15th, 2009, 09:47:12 PM
"Thanks" she said, another bright smile.

Mattie looked up from her dish and snuffled at Wei, then bent down again.

"You seem to generate a bit of interest here" Ko remarked, noticing some of the looks that came Wei's way.

"Are you one of those Jedi's? I have only met a couple, myself. Are you training?" she queried, genuinely interested.

Wei Wu Wei

Wei smiled slightly and ate a few more bites of his lo mein.

"Actually, I am a Jedi. I've completed training, so I'm a Jedi Knight. It's been a great time to travel the galaxy and accomplish a lot to make the universe a better place."

He didn't like how stale that sounded. He needed it to sound more original. Wait, why did he care if this woman thought he was funny or original? He never cared before.

"And what about you?" he asked. "What do you do for a living?"

Dakota Gue
Jan 15th, 2009, 11:32:14 PM
"...For a living..?" she repeated vague as to the meaning. "Oh, a job?"

Dakota didn't like to broadcast that she and Denali lived very comfortably of their daddy's fortune and so took to using a phrase she'd often heard from others, "Oh..Im in between jobs at the moment"

"Mind if I sit?" she asked, wiggling herself onto the stool beside Wei.

"I'd love to be a Jedi" she continued, "But I dont think Im cut out for it. All that sacrifice..." Her thoughts drifted, she couldn't imagine some of the things she'd have to give up to walk such a noble path. And the wardrobe alone the Jedi wore would be enough to shatter her.

"What does being a knight mean? What kind of things can you do?" She was warming to the subject, her eyes alight with the possibilities, "Can you fly?"

Zeke
Jan 26th, 2009, 09:52:55 AM
"Well, I can," Zeke said, sitting on the other side of Dakota so that she was now between the blonde woman and Natia. "Wei doesn't really fly, he just...jumps good." He scooped some food into his mouth, chewing during the pause and swallowing before continuing. "Wei's good at fighting, tho."

Wei nodded. Feeling a little uneasy about having his horn tooted, Wei decided to just roll with it. He was pretty good.

Wei smiled. "I can jump nearly six stories high and four miles from standstill. If I run at Mach 1, I can jump forty miles. and ten stories."

He scratched at his head and adjusted his glasses. "I'm proficient at Form III and Form IV."

Dakota Gue

Ko looked from one man to the other...were they foolin her?
She couldn't tell. They were both smiling, so it was good-natured if they were, she hoped. Anyway, Jedi's dont lie, do they?

"You two have known each other a while then?" she asked. "And you know the others over there" she waved gaily to Natia and Kyle.

"I didnt think Jedi liked to fight, tho there's this one Master I've seen around that spoils for a fight ALL the time it seems to me. A gruff long-haired guy..rough, unshaven - you know him too?"

Wei Wu Wei
Feb 12th, 2009, 06:56:04 PM
Wei shrugged. "The scruffy guy, I don't know. But Zeke and I have been friends for a very long time. Zeke and I are sometimes a team on missions. He specializes in moving things with the Force. Basic push/pull, the flying like he mentioned. I do the running, jumping, hitting people with laser swords."

The Jedi took a sip of his drink. "We're both pretty good at talking though. There are just times when people pay more attention to someone who fights than someone who talks. Like the Mandalorians. I don't have to kill them, just show them that I'm good at combat. Then they start to listen. Of course, it makes me a bigger target for their glory hounds, but that's why we keep one eye open."

Wei liked Dakota so far. "So, what about you? Got any long standing friends and such?"

Zeke
Feb 16th, 2009, 11:54:59 AM
"Boyfriends," Zeke coughed, covering the addition further by lightly tapping his chest as if he'd choked. He grinned a little, eager to cause a bit of light mischeif.

Dakota Gue

Ko grinned back at Zeke, though she knew this time they were foolin her.

"Oh sure" she answered Wei, "got lots of friends about, but they mostly run in a different circle from here." It was a polite way of saying other rich brats like herself and Denali. She scratched Mattie's chin and the little dog snurgled contentedly, "But I dont know so many people here. I dont think folks trust me very much, or know what to do with me. I dont have any special powers and thats a little strange for someone hanging around here" she ended a little despondently.

Wei Wu Wei
Feb 19th, 2009, 10:18:31 PM
"Well, I can think of a hundred things to do with you," Wei started. Then he turned read and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"That didn't come out right. There's no need to have special powers to hang out with people like us. Yeah, we're Jedi and there's a code we live by, but most of the time we like to take a break from the rigors of our lives and relax a little. I like to go to dinner as much as another person. Sometimes it's good to go out and see a play or a holo or something."

Wei twirled the chopsticks in his hand like a pair of miniature lighsabers as he tried to focus and organize his thoughts. "I don't know why anyone would be afraid to trust you. You seem all right to me."

Dakota Gue

"I dont know either" Ko said, skewering her mouth sideways at the unsoundness of such thinking. Mattie made a little cry, sympathetic.

"Its not like Im useless, either" she said, reasserting some self-confidence. "Im a good shot and Im an excellent pilot, if not a little speed-happy. Well.. there was that one time I crashed the YT-1200 into Daddy's pleasure yacht, but it only made a teeny dent - in the yacht; the YT was totalled. And besides, that was Denali's fault, she was wearing cheks and that pattern always makes me a little dizzy when I look at it for any length of time."

She took Wei's chopsticks, a natural enough gesture if they had been long time friends but Ko barely registered the improprietary of her action, and helped herself to some noodles. "I like going to dinner, too" she added, picking up the conversation from out of the air.

Wei watched the chopsticks slide out of his hand and was a little stumped at first as to what he should do. But by then Dakota was already eating his food.

"I can see that," he managed to say at last.

He slid the plate between them and took the chopsticks back to have another morsel for himself.

"So what else do you like to do? Anything exciting or adventurous? Besides eating after people, that is."

He handed her back the chopsticks. For some odd reason, he was able to just roll with what was going on. Maybe the Force was guiding him, or maybe he was finally living up to his namesake. Dakota was fun though, and a breath of fresh air.

Dakota Gue

Dakota took the utensils and resumed eating. The barman appeared, producing another set of chopsticks and smoothly passed these to Wei as he moved by.

"Weeeel" Ko answered between mouthfuls, dropping her voice to conspirator-level, "I (that is, me and Denali) do a bit of blockade running now and then."

It wasn't so much blockade running as it was transporting goods through the Outer Rim territories without getting shot out of the heavens by bandits and pirates. But blockade-running sounded so much more daring.

"Like I said...Im a good pilot. Needs more teriyaki."

Wei Wu Wei
Mar 24th, 2009, 06:38:21 PM
Wei took the extra chopsticks from the barkeep and continued the meal. "I will be getting those back. They're all I have of my mother. The blockade running sounds dangerous."

Wei figured she was putting on to make herself sound a little more interesting to him, but he decided not to do anything about that yet. He sprinkled some teriyaki sauce on her half of the plate and continued eating.

"So, what do you pilot? What kind of ship?"

Dakota Gue
Mar 28th, 2009, 11:05:05 PM
Ko paused, holding the next mouthful of noodles inches from her lips..."Your Mom...?"

Big blue eyes rounded and flicked from the chopsticks in her hand, to those in her companions, and she immediately made an exchange. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have helped myself"

She was quick to move on, the story of a lost mother wasnt one for casual conversation and Dakota would leave finding out more to a later date, should their acquaintance allow.

" A Skipray Blastboat (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Skipray_blastboat)and she is a beauty!" she boasted proudly. "Me and Ali take turns piloting her"

Wei Wu Wei
Mar 29th, 2009, 09:29:50 AM
"Oh, I've ridden in one of those before. A company out of Kuat Driveyards was experiencing problems with piracy. They were really aggressive, and kind of show-offs about it. They liked high risk maneuvers like docking with a ship in mid flight and then matching the victim pilot's maneuvers as they tried to break the docking tubes. They weren't much for blasters--they thought virboblades and vibroswords were better because they caused more pain. Blasters were too quick."

Wei waved the chopsticks in his hand in short, tight circles. The plan was to shunt the pirates into the empty secondary hold where I could fight them and subdue them. Fighting 100 to 1 odds in a space about as big as this restaurant was one of the biggest challenges of my life. I was very proficient in Form III by then, but they still managed to cut me in a few places. I'm not very proficient at Force Healing though, so I still have a few scars from that fight."

Every scar Wei carried had a story. He remembered each one and how it happened. He kept them on purpose to remind him and push him to train harder. The blaster burn on his left side from trying to return the sniper's energy bolt on Zeltros: the cut on his thigh from the Jawa who managed to dive under his guard at the Most Eisley spaceport. He filled the ears of Younglings with tales when he trained--often shirtless--in the Temple.

"Do you have much danger in your work?"

Dakota Gue
Apr 5th, 2009, 12:32:50 PM
"Danger? Not really" she replied, sounding a little disappointed. The majority of runs they had been on were legitimate transactions and small enough to not draw any unsavoury attention. They'd never been involved in anything as exciting as Wei was recounting. The fact was, Ko was quite bored about it all.

"I could be doing anything I want, there is no real obsticle finacially speaking, yet I find I have no real purpose. Nothing that really matters. I mean, there's shopping, but one cant live for shopping - me and Ali agreed that was true quite some time ago. Its just..we dont seem to know how to help. Or even who to help."

Wei Wu Wei
Apr 6th, 2009, 05:53:14 PM
Wei shrugged. "No purpose? Well, I don't know much about purpose, myself. I just kind of showed up on the Temple doorstep one day. I wanted to be a Jedi, but I didn't really have a reason. I just wanted to be able to relax and let things flow."

Wei nibbled some more at his meal. "I didn't really set out to be a lightsaber duelist or anything. It was just what came naturally to me."

Wei took Dakota's hand. "What sorts of things do you like to do? What comes naturally that you do well?"

Dakota Gue
May 16th, 2009, 05:35:22 PM
Mattie stood up on her furry little legs the instant Wei took hold of Ko's hand and growled savagely at him, which wasn't very intimidating due to the size of her. Little razor teeth were bared as Mattie's lips were pulled back in a snarl. Dakota took back her hand as Wei wisely released it.

"She's very protective" Ko said while stroking Mattie's ruffled fur, trying to appease her. The little dog gave a yip and a snort at Wei and eventually relaxed the snarl.

"We both are very cautious when it comes to certain things - its smart to take nothing for granted" she said.
