View Full Version : How does the timeline move along?

Just a general curiosity. :) I was reading through the timeline thread plus the wiki pages and I noticed that it's up to 'Year 2, 11 months'.
I was just wondering how it progresses - if it's moving along in real time, or via some sort of mathematical calculation, or purely on the whims of the roleplayers themselves?

Purely on whim, I think! Though given that almost three In Character years have passed since 2005, when the reset originally occured, we aren't doing too bad in terms of realism. Or at least as much realism as you can expect to find in Star Wars :mneh

This is mainly for the Star Wars universe: (I've no idea how they do time lines in the other portions of the forum)
I always assumed it moved roughly along in real time. Stopping and speeding up where it makes sense in terms of peoples threads in relation to each others. I could be horribly wrong though.

It moves along roughly, as I see it, on whatever whim crosses the RPers mind, and where their thread fits in with other threads people have added to the timeline. Which happens to fit almost into real time, but a little slower. I mean, we have some RPs ongoing that started Jan 08, so...
:uhoh Speaking of I am dreadfully behind in adding my threads. :cry

I did a small bit of timelining a short while back... but that was for Mutants. I was on a wiki bent and went a-wiki-ing. Perhaps it could happen again? ;)

As a reference - I believe Miranda becoming Empress happens exactly 2 years after Endor.

I figured it would make sense 2 years after :)

Can I add that to the Wiki timeline for future reference?

I always had the impression that our time moved at the speed of plot. That is, time moved as far ahead as was necessary for a storyline to progress smoothly.

Thankee very much. :)
(I was going to query whether having it on a whim would get confusing, but seeing the flurry of activity to sort out the timeline since I asked I'll just shut up now :p)
