Sooooooo on my way to a friends house for the night. I was driving along, driving along.

....and possibly took a turn a little faster than I should have ( though I have never had problems with this corner before ). All of a sudden I find that, yes indeed the car is pointing in the right direction, but the wheels are spinning and I am very much NOT traveling in the right direction.

At which point the thought, "OH *&%#!", crosses my mind......and then the wheels catch. Wellllllll, the front wheels any way.

The back spins out, I find myself with a Frontview/Rearview/Frontview/Rearview spinning fun for a few rounds before plowing into the snowbank with a great big POOOOF of white.

So besides almost dying, I was lucky to have someone nearby who saw it, and a friend not far behind. Called up some friends, hooked up a tow-cable, and hauled my **** out of the compacted snow.

Car is drivable luckily, and only damage I can see (so far) is the front bumper being ripped to shreds. I'm betting that I did a good number on the under carriage and probably screwed up the wheel alignment and suspension. Hopefully the axles are fine.

So how was everyone elses New Year's?

!! Yes, thank goodness you are safe! :hug Seems it is the season for car mishaps - we were hit last night by some jerkwad who peeled off after. :(

We're just sitting and waiting for 2009 to get here. Ten minutes of 08 left.

Happy New Year to you :)

Almost got raced over by an ambulance last night. Someone torched a house or something - there was high life in the village. We were outside having some fireworks in the driveyard and our part of the street when the ambulance came belting down it (the driver's living up the road from us).

Other than that, we had a nice evening. I cooked Thai food and we played card games until midnight... we'd bought a whole bunch of firework things, so five to midnight I went outside to set it up. It was fun - never did anything like that before, usually it's my dad doing it but he was glad to pass it on to me.

Anyway, the entire village lit up with fireworks. It was drizzling a bit, so we couldn't see as far as usual, but there was enough happening around here that it didn't matter.
