Now my final list won't be done for probably 2-3 months as I catch up on films I haven't seen. And I still go back every so often and re-evaluate previous years, so I guess these are never COMPLETELY done.

So yeah, I'll be revising this - no doubt in the weeks to come. Some of the order I'm going back and forth on even as I type to be honest. It'll sort of solidify soon enough hopefully, and I may edit this thread a time or two. Nonetheless, here we are as it stands with the year 2008 officially in its final hours.

1. Wall-E - A simply wonderful effort by Pixar. Easily their most adult, deepest, & best picture. I wrote about this at length months ago.
2. The Dark Knight - The best comic book hero film ever. Almost seemed more like a film noir at times.
3. The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons - A magical journey through one man's odd condition of aging backwards. A meditation on aging, life, death, and a variety of other subjects. Asks questions, provides no real answers, but just sort of makes one ponder. Loved this film.
4. The Wrestler - Delving into the world of an aging, washed up, wrestling has-been. Anchored with a phenomenoal performance by Mickey Rourke.
5. Slumdog Millionaire - Not many pictures will make you feel warmer and more gooey inside than this one. A real fairytale. Bollywood mixed with British director Danny Boyle equals genius.
6. Frost/Nixon - A splendid examination of the famous Frost/Nixon interviews where the disgraced president admitted to his mistakes. Great acting, and the kind of classic filmmaking one expects from Ron Howard.
7. Burn After Reading - I love the Coens when they do serious...I love when they do inane comedy. This was the inane comedy variety and it's pure hilarity throughout.
8. Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Another comedy makes my list. This one had me in stitches the whole time. It also has a surprising amount of heart, that really elevate it higher than it should be.
9. The Reader - Just your average teen boy has affair with woman twice her age, finds out she was a Nazi prison guard whi is then accused of war crimes, which haunts man well into adulthood film. :lol Really well acted, but it's the kind of film one more admires than loves. Kate Winslett and the boy are particularly wonderful.
10. Cloverfield - BWP mixed with Godzilla type creature equals total adrenelline high. Kick @ss monster movie.

Good list apart from Cclcclovllveevverifeld. Damn it, shaky cam MUST die.

This has actually been a good movie year - add Iron Man to the 10 and it's all good :)

I actually think it's been kind of a weaker year for film to be honest.

Well it depends, I've liked more movies this year than last year's crop but that is just me. I hate making a list right now although I could make a top 5 which would be
1 Dark Knight
2 Wall E
3 Iron Man
4 Bucket List
5 Tropic Thunder
I don't see the latter 2-3 making a final top 5 since I haven't seen certain movies yet.

I'd disagree personally - I cant remember a year where I willingly went to the cimema more and enjoyed it. And then TDK and Wall-E were simply a real cut above anything for quite some time.

Unfortunalty I did see Hancock and Indiana Jones in a theatre. What a complete waste of time those two were - Terrible! But then again, there was plenty that was just straight out awesome.

Wall-E just blew me away and frankly I'll cop ten Hancocks if I get to see that kind of magic again. When's Pixar's next one coming out? One hell of a movie to beat TDK on my personal list and I suspect Wall-E will be on a lot of top ten lists.

I had a hard time finding 10 films I'd want to include in list. Usually I have about 20 that I'm trying to fit in.

Granted, I still have quite a few I need to see.

My problem is usually trying to decide what the best 10 films are. Right now I haven't seen enough to make a fair judgment.

Thread closed until further notice. I am sorry, but the rules of the board have to be enforced.
