OK guys, we really need to start booking up hotel space because I'm veeery conscious of the fact that many hotels have already sold out in the area. If we want to end up in the same place together, for ease of getting around, we should start booking ASAP.

Can we try and get booked by the end of January at the latest? Pound Sterling isn't getting any stronger so I'd like to get something before all the decent quality/price rooms are gone.. :uhoh

I'm all for the Red Roof Inn. It's supposed to be down the street from what Jenny said so can we just book stuff there soon please :p

Do it. It is 0.6 miles (3 minutes) down the road from the convention centre. It is not perfect but no one else is presenting any better offers and time is running out so frell it lets book this mother.</strike>

That Red Roof Inn is now SOLD OUT (Morgan just booked the last room available for Sept 3-8).

There are other Red Roofs in the area.

It doesn't even have to be downtown, since we can just zip to Dragoncon on MARTA. There are a few nice places in college park, I know. Let me look for a few hours hang on.

Okay, I priced out the Omni because I knew that place was tip-top as far as nice hotels, and we can get rooms that sleep four people to a bed for what works out to $236.25 per person for the entire stay. Now, this is a good deal more expensive than the house option, but I wanted to get a sort of upper bound feel from people. Obviously if we want to cram more people per room we can reduce the price, or we can look to cheaper accomodation if you want.

I am willing to go up to about $290 (for Sept 3-8). Ideally that would be only if we had to pay that much though. But anything below that is fine really, so long as we are in a good location and have some decent amenities available to us in the hotel.

My dad has stayed there and he really enjoyed it. From what I hear it's a nice place. I'm willing to put that amount up for a room no problem.

It would be better to be closer to the Con for drunken stumbling purposes.

But you can drunken stumble onto MARTA right?

I haven't plotted the distance between, admittedly

I can stumble pretty far (I wear sensible shoes :cool).

Especially since it will be warmer there (I'm guessing) than it EVER is here.

But you can drunken stumble onto MARTA right?

I haven't plotted the distance between, admittedlyI'm not sure how long MARTA operates. The website doesn't seem to say either.

Surely until 11pm at least.

If not your American public transport is gay.

I'm pretty sure we were out at the Cheetah way way way past 11 pm and were still able to catch the MARTA train.

MARTA rail runs until about 2 am or so. Buses tend to run to about 11 pm. At least, that is what I gather from a quick look at their schedules.

If we do go for the 2nd option, I can swing that as well.

Hotels are so expensive. :cry

edit: try looking at Hotels.com?

edit edit: Priceline.com seems like the best bet for me and ty to get a good rate, but we wouldn't be able to tell what hotel we'd end up at. So, if other people wanted to get into the same hotel we could just book a bunch of rooms in one transaction? I don't have the money to reserve a room yet, probably not until mid Jan at the earliest, but... but...?

You don't outlay the money for reservations. They keep your card on file.

Hotels are probably so expensive because we have waited until now to get rooms booked. The earlier we booked, the cheaper it would have probably been :(

I'm waiting to hear from Raz about where to stay but other people should just get booked up as soon as poss. So long as you are in the downtown area it doesn't seem like it would be hard to get around.

I believe Miranda, Morgan and myself are sorted for accomodation.

Hope the rest of you get reservations soon!
