Vote Harvey Dent!
One big question now is whether Blagojevich retains the right to name Obama's successor if he remains in custody or even under indictment. The answer is yes, according to Fitzgerald.
The only thing more ridiculous is this:
In a 76-page affidavit, federal authorities say wiretaps caught Blagojevich conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat in exchange for financial benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.
My brother said he found a (spurious) eBay listing for the Senate seat. Unfortunately, I looked and couldn't find it, but it sounded hilarious...

It was on eBay, it's been de-listed now.

From the indictment...
In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."
Which should stop all but the most crazy of the wingnuts linking this to Obama. Kinda makes me wonder if the transition team tipped the Feds off?
Still, how spectaclarly stupid is this guy? I read the indictment - he honestly was thinking of appointing himself so he could avoid further charges and also make a Pres run in 2016 - all the while he tries this on knowing full well he's already under investigation and should have known full well someone's probably watching him closely?
How amusingly stupid

This has been going on for ages with Blagojevich though. So the fact he thought he could escape without incident, isn't surprising.

The only good Governor that we've had in the past 40 years was Jim Edgar; man, I wish he'd come back :cry

Not when you consider there are several in the Obama transition team who share the views expressed here and probably were just itching for a chance to be rid of him. And Obama plays for keeps - so how in the Lord's name does anyone even think for a second that they can be so dumb against the President Elect of all people????
Amazing. Wish I could say we aint stupid liek that here but if I told ya all about the NSW government.... corrupt? Dumb? in spades!
