So, who's watching? We're into Season 3 now. Dexter survived his serial-killer brother, a pyromaniac 'girlfriend' and Sgt. James Doakes, the baddest mother in Miamo Metro rest in peace!
Episode 9 ("About Last Night") aired on November 23rd. That means we have just three episodes to go before the end of the season. Seems like there's a lot of loose ends to tie up, still. How's everyone enjoying this seasons story arc?

Such an awesome show. I was skeptical about the new developments until last week's episode. I honestly have no idea where this is going.

I'm liking it a lot. I watched part of Season 1 when it was on CBS over the summer (censored I know) and now I'm watching Season 3 in its entirety on Showtime... I'm conflicted because I like Dexter, but he's so... BAD.
The Miguel Prado story arc is reaaaaally good. I haven't watched yesterday's yet. :uhoh But I like that Dexter is having to grow and change a little. He's becoming... more of a person? Maybe that's too much to hope for.

I felt this season was pretty weak, compared to the previous two, until the latest big revelation Miguel you dirty double crosser :o I knew that Dexter would have to dispose of Miguel eventually but I never imagined that Miguel would have been using Dexter all along!

I still need to sit down and watch season two...I loved the book though, and I'm worried I'll be disappointed with any changes they made for the tv show (the first season and book had some big changes too).

From what I've heard, from people who've read the books and seen the TV show, the changes made have been improvements.

Season 4 starts tomorrow night! :eee
The first ep already leaked online (apparently this was done intentionally to drum up excitement) and it was pretty good.

Omfg so excited... Finally got to watch thefirst ep of this season today. Lithgow's entrance was creepy as all hell. The tidbits they showed at the very end of what to expect this season make it look like it should be another really rollercoaster. K... Done rambling now

I thought it was a great episode. I feel really worried for Dexter, although I can't help but feeling that while I sort of root for him to 'get away with it', in the end when the show is over he'll need to pay for his crimes. I mean, he IS a serial killer.
But not this season! Get some sleep, Dex!

I've never watched an episode of Dexter before but with John Lithgow playing this part, I feel I must watch this.

His character is very intriguing (and creepy) already.

I'm still sad that they didn't use the killer from book 2 in the tv show :( The third book is immensely weird and the newest book is out now in hard-cover.
I dont get the channel that shows Dexter >_>; But I love the books.

Just watched episode 2... and I am enjoying this season so far. It is so surreal seeing John Lithgow in this kind of role. It's so different to anything I've seen from him before. It's also really interesting to see Dexter so.. vulnerable as he tries to juggle work, family, killing and now concussion/memory-loss.
Also bonus that we don't have to keep hearing the name Chicky Hines anymore! :wave

4x04 Dexter Takes A Holiday!
"What is it with you and rape?! No one's raping anybody!" :lol
The whole 'Dexter must choose between his family and killing' angle is being reinforced a little... hamfistedly, but it was an enjoyable episode regardless. It's still nerve-wracking to see Dexter on edge, every time you think his little world is going to fall apart.

"Hello Dexter Morgan.." :wings
I think this season is a great deal better than season 3, although the first two seasons were the best. Looking forward to season finale. :D

I loved the scene in the last episode where Trinity is just wandering through Miami Metro Homicide's investigation room, where they have all the pictures of his victims pinned up. Any ordinary man would have been all OHSHIIIITTTT but Trinity is just ^___^ my haven't they displayed it all rather nicely.

Godddd we started watching this last night. Even my dad, who's so anti-television (unless it's golf) it isn't funny, is hooked.

That season 4 finale is a good example of why I love this show so much. At the end of the episode, I was kinda, "ok, so that was the end of that season", so imagine my shock seeings Rita in the bathtub and the baby in the bloodpool. I was at such disbelief, at first, I thought Dexter was dreaming. But no, this show knows how to twist the plot around when things are getting stale. I secretly wanted Dexter to ditch Rita already in season 2 for Lila West. Rita is way too goody good for someone like Dexter. I like the fact that the producers are not afraid to kill off major characters to shake things up. Imagine the creepiness of Dexter raising that baby alone in season 5. Also, now Debra knows about Dexter's past..
Excellent season finale, excellent show! :thumbup

It was an excellent twist and totally unexpected. I thought that Rita and Harrison would probably end up the target of whoever is the next season's main villain, but I had no idea they would kill Rita off so soon. I wonder how Dexter will cope without her? Does this mean he is going to get sole custody of Aster and Cody?? How will he juggle killing with raising three traumatised kids?! :ohno

I cried. I mean... the baby... in the blood of his mother... It was too much for me. :cry
Poor Dexter. I can't imagine where they're going next season. I just feel so so sooooo bad for him. All that cautious optimism about maybe finally being rid of his Dark Passenger and then Rita... :cry

Does this mean he is going to get sole custody of Aster and Cody?? How will he juggle killing with raising three traumatised kids?! :ohnoI'm guessing Rita's mother might start some sort of custody battle, because she did not like Dexter very much. She'll probably blame Dexter entirely for her death, yet she won't know exactly how right she is about that. Dexter is going to have a problem explaining why the Trinity killer went for his wife, beyond being some grunt working for Miami homicide. The delicious irony would be if he somehow ends up with the custody of all 3 kids, and he'll have to juggle between his job, hunting serial killers without getting caught and taking care of the kids. That is like 3 full time jobs right there. He is not going to handle that well, and the Harry voice is going to let him know, and it's either going to drive Dexter insane, get caught or force him to let go of one of those 3 fulltime jobs.
Poor Dexter. I can't imagine where they're going next season. I just feel so so sooooo bad for him. All that cautious optimism about maybe finally being rid of his Dark Passenger and then Rita... I think it's just going to roll downhill for Dexter. He lost Rita, and now his baby has come to the world the same way he did. Like father, like son. At some point, he is going to face the awful dilemma how to handle that. I mean, is his son going to carry some of his genes, have the same mental trauma in the subconsciousness, and have the same urges as him? Will he eventually have to teach him the same way Harry did to him..? The cycle is complete!

Well Harrison is a lot younger than Dexter was, so he shouldn't be able to remember this. Of course, growing up and finding out about it later could mess him up.

Oh, and Dexter was nominated for several Golden Globes - Best TV Drama, Best Actor TV Drama (Michael C. Hall) and Best Supporting Actor TV Drama (John Lithgow).
If John Lithgow doesn't win this there's no justice in the world. He was amazing. Amazingly NAKED >_<

*deep breath*
I am in total utter shock that they killed Rita o_o COMPLETE AND UTTER SHOCK. I always thought she balanced him out nicely. They were both kinda effed up and yeah she got on my nerves at times but whenever Dexter had one of his genuine "I want this to work... and not just for cover." moments I always was all "awwwwwwww" but yeah... seeing Harrison in the blood was all "Oh he has to be dreaming...he has to be.... ;_____;" I totally almost cried. lol
It'll be interesting to see how that ending is handled for next season.
Poor Dexter.

Thoughts after having a day to chew it over... ha ha.
I think my biggest interest now leading into the next season is where they will pick up the story. Between the last two there was a decent chunk of time, Harrison was born and I believe was at least a year old at the point we came in this season. I wonder if they'll let time pass... or if we'll pick right up maybe just the next day. I kinda hope so... I'd love to see how Dexter is going to answer to Trinity killing Rita when it comes to the police/FBI investigation. Not that Trinity was particularly affiliated with any of his victims but Rita didn't exactly fit his pattern for the bath tub victims either.
I guess they could write it off as when he came in and pretended to be a visitor, saw the board, saw the progress they were making, could have believed they were "on to him" and Angel saw him and Dexter talking so he could have gotten Dex's name/home info/etc as a random thing through that way and killed Rita more as a target linked to Miami Metro as a bit of a eff-you to them in general rather than a personal attack on Dexter. It's not a stretch to believe they could start thinking along the lines of he found out who was working on his case through his daughter's info that she had through Quinn and from there he found out who had a family/who would be good to target to send a "message" to the entire station without actually killing one of their own.
....I thought about this far too much. :lol I congratulate the writers on making me care that much. lol

I bring this thread alive!!!!
Finished season 4 literally minutes ago. As someone that has watched season 1-4 in the previous months, I have an appreciation of seeing all the pieces fit together from day one and wow. This series is amazing.
I have no idea what's going to happen with season 5 after everything that happened :cry
