Ok I'm a little confused as to who's planning what, so here's a poll to clear up some mysteries and keep us all on track.
MULTIPLE CHOICE poll, by the way, choose as many as are relevant.

I have my tickets to the Con itself, and once I get paid I will be purchasing my plane tickets. After that, I guess I just need to confirm with the rest of you guys attending exactly how many days we will be staying in our hotel of choice (Red Roof Inn ftw?)
Six Flags - I am cool going before or after the con (would prefer after). Whatever is most convinient for whoever is driving me there :mneh
Costumes - we are going to be massive geeks anyway, why not go all out?
Teleporting - I had no idea this was an option! I want to *BAMF!*

At this point, I am still planning on going BUT there might be interferences depending on:
A) Whether or not I get an internship/co-op
B) Whether or not I get an REU
C) Where I'm going for study abroad.

I was secure in that I was going, up and until the time I was laid off and am having a difficult time finding another job. So now it appears lack of monies may make this trip non-existant. :frown

Already committed, my fate is now in the hands of the people in charge of the application process for each. :\

If I read dates of this correctly, September 4th to the 7th?

Yes. Those are the dates of the convention.

I checked the 6 flags opening hours. It does not have a schedule for next year yet. This year however, in september it was open on saturdays, sundays and on labor day. This means going to six flags before or after the convention would likely not even be an option, you would have to pick one of the convention days.

Yes sir! :D

Yes but the general consensus I'm reading from past attendees is that it's better to arrive on the 3rd and leave on the 8th... since arriving early means you won't have to queue up on Friday to get your 'badge', and staying the night of the 7th would give us time to chill rather than rushing out on Monday night.

Ah, so we will be going during the Con. Fine by me. There is Con stuff on all day, as far as I can tell... so we could always hit the rides up for the majority of the day and then come back for some evening shenanigans.
Speaking of, will it be necessary to buy Six Flags tickets in advance or? It looks like you can get a group discount there, although the website says that you can get a group ticket on the door... but the discount won't be as good.

Not really too crazy about Six Flags, have my own mobile roller-coaster. We'll see.
However, I would very much like to go to the shooting range.

Agreed on shooting range. Shooting is fun.
That being said, I'm not sure about my future at the moment. I have an offer from a studio in Los Angeles and a 7 hour third round of interviews with a studio in NYC tomorrow.
If I get the NYC gig, it's more likely that I'll be going. However, I'm uncertain to all of the details of my employment... so... we'll see how much time I get off, etc.
Luckily, for me it's a question of, "do I make big budget games on the west coast? or the east coast?" :) It's a good situation to be in.

I've never so much as seen a gun in real life, let alone held or fired one, so I'd be up for that.

Let me speak to some people about the range. It's just east of Atlanta (the one I went to, at least) but should be a piece of cake to go.
If folks do want to go, would a $10 buy-in on ammo be too much to ask? I'll run an inventory on what I have and buy up what I'm low on, so you guys can have fun out there.

Given how cheap it looks like the accomodation is going to be, $10 for ammo sounds fine!

Coolness. I won't have my tromix backlog since crazy people are overloading his queue since BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA became king of America, but that's a pittance. The Saiga is fun enough as it is.

I don't have anything at all planned, no tickets anywhere, or any money to make plans at the moment.. but if I have somewhere to sleep and some way to get there between now and then, I'll come. There's still time!

I think you did mention it once but I wasn't sure if the offer was still valid. ^_^; Money is still the main issue, but I've got time to save up if I don't buy any random electronic gadgets. Probably nothing will be solid until almost the last minute, so we shall see!

I'm always willing to sleep in a tub or outside in someone's car if necessary. :D

We'll have plenty of room, even if we have some folks sleeping on the floor. Just bring a sleeping bag and you're set.
