From the only studio to have never have made a bad film and in fact have delivered without doubt at least 4 out of 10 of the best ever animated films of all time, comes UP

http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/up/trailer_medium.html

When your worst film is A Bugs Life, you just have to have high expectations, especially after the superb Wall-E. Please Pixar, will you however release this in Australia the same bloody day that you do elsewhere?

No idea what UP is about, but as per usual it looks fanstastically well animated

Um, I think its about an old guy floating his house around with a million helium balloons, perhaps because he is crotchety and wants to leave society? Just a guess! :lol

Hijinks ensue when a boyscout inadvertently comes along for the ride. ;)

Hahah, looks really fun :). I suspect it might be a tearjerker as well, as the old man gets back in touch with his inner child.

Hey, that looks like fun! I'll be curious to find out what the ultimate story is, but this is a good effective teaser, I'm sure I'll go see it. Especially after what a masterpiece WALL-E turned out to be.

After the dissappointment that was Wall-E, and the mediocre Finding Nemo and Bug's Life, I've come to expect about a 50/50 chance of good stuff from Pixar. However, Up does indeed look fun.

I loved Wall-E, and after seeing that teaser I can't wait for UP.

Cars was stupid but everything else they've made has been good. I'm sure my wife will drag me to see this also :)

After the dissappointment that was Wall-E

This is the most startlingly wrong statement I have ever heard since GWB opened his mouth.

Technically he just needs to say "In my opinion Wall-E was a disappointment" and that is a true statement.

Not a wrong one. Yours is incorrect.

There are some movies where someone describing them as a "disappointment" is something that should be challenged. Wall-E is simply one of those because frankly there are all levels of accoplishment it stands a great deal higher than almost everything that came before it.

1) It yet again pushed animation to new levels of realism where it needed to

2) It tried a very different way of dialogue, with also worked

3) It was a love story that was extremely well done.

4) Fantastic date movie, which is really something remarkable given how toxic chick flicks are to males and how radioactive action flicks is to the females.

So in fact "disappointing" is highly dubious given how there is one very good argument that can be mounted to the contrary. Now Cars I can understand as disappointing, Cars was one big injoke for the motor industry and you do need to know a fair bit about motor cars to really get it - if you get it, it is amazing how much detail they got right and how much they are really skewering the industry. A movie really shouldnt work only if you "get it" however. It should work for as many people as possible. Cars failed that, but still remained pretty good. Wall-E? Nope. Not disappointing. It was superb.

I swear the biggest laugh I've heard during the trailers is at a single word:

"Squirrel!"

:lol

I'm really looking forward to this one, although I don't see how Pixar could possibly surpass the beauty of WALL-E.

Just got back from seeing this with Charley.

Wonderful. Simply wonderful. I'm not good at reviews or anything like that, so I'll let others who are better take care of that aspect if they so wish.

But I will say that this movie should be loved by kids and adults alike; kids because it's got cute humor and whatnot, and adults because it really tugs on the content/happy memories heartstrings.

If you're an adventurer young or old, this movie will make your day. I was so happy to see it. Probably my 2nd favorite Pixar film now.

I just need to interject one meandering thought here, as far as I'm concerned animation isn't there to aim for realism, it's beautiful and creative and I'm happy for it to stay away from realism, that's called CGI. And somtimes, with Pixar, it's hard to tell the difference. Generally speaking, their films are hit and miss, the hits are magical but overrated, and I don't mean detract from their success but after seeing Grave of the Fireflys can one only truly appreciate what animated cinema can do to an audience.

Oh I've seen Grave of the Fireflies. I cried for most of the entire duration of it, too. I'll not deny that it's powerful, and that animation is a strong tool in evoking emotions from an audience.

For myself, Up did bring up emotions, though certainly not the same as in GotF.

I'll never forget what one of my old animation professors told me; that if you're aiming for realism, just do live-action and don't bother wasting the energy to animate it. Obviously it's absolutely possible to marry your desired realism and animation, but what he was trying to get at was that animation gives you an amazing amount of freedom over live sets and actors, and allows you to tell stories without any sort of restrictions :)

Just got back from seeing Up. Kudos to the writer for really approaching this story in a manner I did not expect, and the film had some of the best montages I've ever seen.

I really did enjoy it, and I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10. The antagonist gave me the most problems in the film, but overall it was a good, fun movie with sections which were very moving. Unfortunately, it had other sections which, quite frankly, dragged.

Still, it was fun, and to me it was one heck of a lot better than Wall-E. Mark is sure to make comments about that, but, yes, I disliked Wall-E. Bored me to death. Sorry, not all of us can be perfect, I guess.

Up, on the other hand, only bored me in a few, thankfully short places, and was otherwised a well-paced movie with a lot of heart in certain themes.

It made me shed a tear. DAMN YOU PIXAR! I need you to stop messing with my emotion chip. I swear I'll take it out if you keep it up! ;)

How does Pixar keep managing this? How do they keep putting out such movie perfection?

Wow. Just...wow. Up is a brilliant mix of heartbreaking and hilarious, an absolute must-see. It's really interesting how Pixar has been developing stories recently that touch human emotion so deeply. WALL-E was a beautiful study of loneliness and love. Up goes even further, with Carl's backstory and the developing relationship between him and Russell. And they've woven these themes into movies that have plenty to keep the little ones happy and occupied.

The crowd we saw it with today was a great crowd, a big mix of adults and children, and everyone seemed to enjoy it a lot. There was literally screaming with laughter at points, and then at other times you could hear sniffling. It truly does hit you on every emotional level possible.

Again, there will be no competition for the Best Animated Film Oscar next year. Just hand it to Pixar, m'kay? And I would seriously expect the short shown before the movie, Partly Cloudy, to be nominated for Best Animated Short Film...that was great too!

How the blazes Pixar make such intelligent and emotional movies and no one else seems to get close is byond me. Yet again, Pixar shows how it's supposed to happen. Hand the Oscar over, no one will get close.

This is no kids movie. Yeah sure there's the funny SQUIRREL! bits but there's such a great layered story. And hinting at miscarrages in a kids movie? Brave.

Now would they fucking well actually release Pixar movies here on time instead of waiting 4 months??????

Well I still haven't seen it. :cry But its in the cheap theatres here now so maybe...?

The movies we want to see sort of pile up though so when we get a chance to go see one its a huge list to choose from.
