October is fast approaching, so for those of us who like to play dress up (:o) it's time to start thinking serious about our Halloween costumes.

So, what are you thinking of going as? I still have the majority of my Claire "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World!" Bennett costume that I didn't get to use last year, though I seem to have misplaced the blonde wig... :huh I'm not sure the cheerleading outfit would be as recognisable now, since Heroes isn't such a big thing anymore, so if anyone has suggestions for someone else I could go as, they would be most welcome ;)

I'm going to be Wolverine. Pics will be supplied once the look is complete.

Which Wolverine? Yellow spandex? :eek

Civillian Wolverine. Trust me, you do NOT want to see me in spandex. =P

I dunno what I'm gonna do :(

If I had the patience and whatnot I'd revamp my lady predator costume. It was a lot of fun to put together, and I had a blast wearing it. I'll have to do some thinking.

Last time I dressed up for halloween, I was a naughty secretary. My most favourite costume I ever did was when I was a hobo in the second or third grade. Made my own cigarettes from rolling up paper and everything. Twas awesome. Alas, I have no pictures of that event.

Jenny, make a stake and go as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, maybe?

My mum is making everyone dress up for her Halloween party - I might be sewing dog costumes (Cookie Monster and a Cookie) for her puppies. I don't really feel like dressing up, but I guess I'll have to.

I need to figure out costumes for me, Ty and Owen. For Ty's birthday party. I swear I'm actually throwing one this year. I need to make invitations. :uhoh

In a perfect world I'd be 30 pounds lighter and actually look good in a sexy costume. :p I'd go as an original Star Trek female officer. :D I still might. We'll see!

If I wind up doing anything for Halloween - depends if I have any money left >_< -I'll probably end up falling back on my Van Helsing costume. Aside from the hat, I already have most of the bits and pieces hanging up as items in my wardrobe, so it works pretty well.

Either that, or I might break out the cane, stop shaving for a few days, and go as House. :D

:lol that would be awesome! You could totally be rude to everyone and get away with it!

Anyone settled on a costume yet?

Owen is going to be an Ewok. I just need to find a teddy bear costume in the correct size!

I am most likely going to be Trinity, just need the right sort of pants and boots to go with the "costume" (jacket and shades only). My hair is long now, but I MIGHT cut it. I like it long but its sort of a pain because I have to wear it up all the time anyway 'cause Owen likes to grab it.

I have a party in two weeks, but no clue for a costume.

I so take back my Trinity thing, I'm going to make a BSG costume. I can't believe I didn't think of it before.

I'm definitely going as Claire from Heroes.

I need to think of a convincing way to look like I've had a labotomy.

I doubt I'll dress up, mainly because the costume would be rubbish so there's not much point.

On a side note, how cute is this picture:

And on a side-side-Star Wars note, I thought this little guy did a great job helping out Yoda fighting Count Dooku. http://www.vimeo.com/202802

I think I'm going to end up going as a Quarantine person. Just need some fake blood and denture tablets :lol

Got all my stuff ordered, just need military type olive green pants and figure out how to draw on a huge fake tattoo.

I was originally going to do a zombie Barney, get a Barney costume, add glowing red eyes, lots of sharp teeth, and a fake kid's forearm sticking out of his bloody mouth, and just run around the popular trick and treat neighborhoods.

Now though, with only ten days until my sister's wedding, and with my free time spent doing preparation stuff, I would have to go with something much simpler, easier, and cheaper if I did anything at all this year.

Maybe a slight modification or two of my Harry Potter Haggrad's outfit.

Okay, anyone know of a good, temporary black hair dye that ACTUALLY washes out? Hair is medium brown to begin with, by the way.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Oct 16th, 2008, 05:50:24 PM
Have you looked at Spencer's? I seem to recall seeing little jars of super temp hair dye there. Purple, pink, blue, red, green, white, and I do believe black.

Lilaena De'Ville
Oct 16th, 2008, 11:04:20 PM
I've 'temp' tied my hair black before and it is not TEMPORARY! You'll be stuck with black for quite a while. I'm not sure about the stuff at spencers though, but any other hair dye will be black for a long long time. It does wash out eventually but we're talking months.

Test it on a little bit first and see.

The stuff at Spencers (if it's what I'm thinking - Manic Panic) does wash out. Dont know if black will stay in better then the other colors though.

Dasquian Belargic
Oct 24th, 2008, 04:10:46 PM
Black aaaalways stays in much longer than you want it to. 'Temp' black dye is a myth.

Anyways, how is everyones costume creation going? Less than a week to go! :D

We weren't going to go out with the boys this year because there's been a lot of creepy random acts of violence in the neighborhood, and the kids tend to get overexcited and take off despite warnings.

And then J started thinking.

So now they're going as a classic monster chain gang. Alex is Dracula, Andy is a mummy, and Rhys is Frankenstein. J is going to be a monster hunter and the boys will be 'shackled' (tied around the waist with rope) to each other. :D

Ha! That monster chain gang idea is awesome :D

Aye, Manic Panic is the stuff I'm thinking of.

And as far as costumes, I got supremely lazy this time around, so no bastet getup. I'll be going as a loom operator ^_^;

So tonight I finally added some 'wear and tear' to my Union Wells High School cheerleading jersery (:mneh) I mixed up some DIY fake blood with flour and food-colouring, to splatter the shirt in the style of:

http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/6497/clairebil4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I also added some "blood" to my wig, and discovered in the process that food colouring is muuuuch harder to get off your skin than I had previously imagined! This is the first costume I've actually really made myself since I was a little kid... I think I had a little too much fun with the blood-splattering :D

I'm going to be a disgruntled convenience store Clerk. I was a zombie at my halloween party, but my fake blood peeled and some got in my eye >_<

Niiiiiiice. A few of my fraternity brothers were hellbent on going as a Gears of War squad. We had it planned out up to using the Mechanical Engineering Departments milling equipment to hollow us out some armor molds etc.

But the only distance we got was building a few clunky ( IE epic fail) prototypes and building three of these suckers out of nerf-guns.

Yeah, we are a bunch of engineering nerds. Unfortunately we are three Aerospace nerds and one ChemE.....we need more MechEs dammit.

Ok the nerf gun GoW weapon is awesome. Too bad about the armor. :(

My blonde wig looks silly when i put it on. :lol The ewok costume is cute though, for Owen. I'm almost done with it... ^_^; so much work to do in 7 hours what am I doing on the computer!

I wasn't going to do anything but my daughter convinced me to go out trick-a-treating with her (since we had a party last year and didn't have any room to have one again this year), so I had to improvise on costumes. Originally we always dress up as witches, but since dead things are more appropriate for Halloween I rifled through my fabric box and last year's leftover decorations, and turned Nya into a little ghost.
I went as a witch, of course. Which made me realise how badly I need a new "everyday" witchy hat again...

Another few cats were killed and strung up in our neighborhood, so we've nixed trick-or-treating - which has, of course, started World War III. Apparently we're the worst parents in the history of ever.

I'm quite glad they haven't figured out to use Halloween for anything bad yet over here. Trick-a-treating is a new phenomenon, really, since it's not a German tradition to dress up as anything and go out looking for candy (usually the only activity you get is on the next day, when people flock to the cemetaries to leave some flowers for their dead). Up to five years ago you wouldn't really get much out of this day, but it's really boomed since then. Last year we gave a kids' party and the parents all came along and didn't want to leave either.... which was funny, but weird. And this year half of Nya's school class is trick-a-treating or having their own parties, so... it seems to be catching on. What I find really sad is that none of them have any clue what is behind it all.... which is why we "educated" a couple of other kids tonight...

Okay, late in posting, I know.

My original idea to be Wolverine got scrapped as they wouldn't even let me have toy claws at work. So, I decided to trim my beard in a different way and become...

Tony Stark! (complete with glowing Arc Heart!)

Got to wander around in my suit all day with my arc heart glowing and a glass of bourbon (apple juice.) It was great, and my supervisor was the new Joker.

EDIT -Got the pictures to work, and added this year's pumpkin. =)
