I'm most pimped about the TB @ CHI game. So far the Bucs main problem has been letting the other team get off big plays once in a while. I think it will be a back and forth game.

Dolphins up 14-6 on the Patriots, and now they have another 1st and goal! :eek
Hey, you know who handed the Patriots their last regular-season loss? ;)
EDIT: Check that. 21-6, Dolphins!
The Texans have allowed another TD after allowing a deep strike to their own 3. The receiver never had both feet down in-bounds, but the Texans failed to challenge the play. This team just does not know how to win. Why the heck did I pick them for the upset?
Incidentally, Steve Slaton is looking really, really good in his first career NFL start.

I benched Ronnie Brown in one of my leagues, and really regretting it..
Dragon
Sep 21st, 2008, 12:47:47 PM
A couple surprising halftime leads - the Bengals lead the champs 13-10, and the Raiders lead the Bills 9-7. Matt Ryan is looking really good against crappy defenses, and the Falcons lead the Chiefs 24-7; the AP-less Vikings are tied 10-10 with the Panthers, the Buccaneers have a slim 14-9 lead over the Bears, and the Redskins have a slimmer 10-7 lead over the Cardinals (though the Cards have just entered the red zone).
Aside from the two big surprises (Miami and Cincy), I'm looking pretty good so far in the early games.
EDIT: Do you get credit in fantasy football if your RB throws a TD pass?
Ronnie Brown just connected with Anthony Fasano (who?), and it's 28-6 Fins!
EDIT: Make that 4 rushing TDs! 62 yards by Ronnie Brown, and it sounds like Rodney Harrison is losing his cool...
Oh, and I just now realized the Vikings do have AP, though his action has been limited by his injury.
And, hey, Matt Cassel just fumbled, and the Dolphins recovered in Pats territory!

Tennessee defense has really stepped it up on that last play and that should be the game. I still think they look like one of the best teams in the AFC.
Dragon
Sep 21st, 2008, 01:52:31 PM
You keep saying that, but I don't really see it - I see Tennesse playing good defense and Matt Schaub playing right into their hands. Tennessee's good, but they haven't played anybody yet except the Jaguars, who were definitely struggling.
Matt Schaub just threw the Texans' last chance away on a horrible, horrible pick-6. Steve Slaton was the only player on offense who didn't hurt the team - too many drops by the receivers, penalties by the line, and just plain bad decisions by Matt Schaub. It looks like this team has taken a giant step backwards from the end of last year.
This just in: the Bears and Bucs are going into overtime, and so are the Bengals and Giants!

I think there defense is great and they have a very good running game. The are actually #1 in scoring defense.

Well despite Griese overthrowing quite often in the 2nd half that resulted in a couple of picks, the Bucs manage to rally and tie the game 24-24 as the Bucs and Bears go into OT.

Good game between the Bears and Bucs. Tampa Bay overcoming four turnovers to tie the game in the finals seconds of regulation is pretty impressive.

Don't worry, the Pats are going to lose a lot more than just one game. They've looked pretty lifeless in their first three games, despite winning their first two. It's more than just the loss of Brady... New England looks like they still have a hangover from that Super Bowl loss.
Dragon

YIKES, the Steelers' O-line needs to start doing its job. Six sacks in the second quarter. Way too many missed assignments and botched blocks.
Granted, one of the sacks wasn't official because he got back to the line of scrimmage... and another one was aided by the player being offsides, but the Steelers declined because there was also a facemask... But that is still unacceptable. The Steelers also need to run the ball more. Only six carries in the first half.
EDIT: AMAZING pick by Polamalu! Let's get something going, offense!
This has been an awesome defensive struggle. Nantz and Simms are tripping all over themselves salivating over the Eagles defense, but they've said next to nothing about how well the Steelers' defense has been playing. They haven't been as dominant up front as the Eagles' blitz packages, but they've done a phenomenal job of cutting off McNabb's passing options and have also put some good pressure on him. Otherwise, there's no way this would be a one-score game.
EDIT: Refs call intentional grounding on Ben in the endzone for a safety. It was the wrong call - Ben was outside the pocket, the pass was thrown to an area containing two eligible receivers, and the only reason the pass didn't make the line of scrimmage was that it was tipped. But his knee was down in the endzone before he threw anyway. So I guess even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
The Steelers still have a chance - they just have to stop the Eagles right here and keep it a one-score game.
EDIT: Wow, Jaguars kick a 51-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to take the lead over Indy and win.
EDIT: Eagles go up by 9 with a late field goal after a fumble recovery. Props to the Eagles for a spectacular defensive performance, but the Steelers O-line let the whole team down. They let the Eagles get in their heads and missed blocks they should have made easily. Ben has gone into the locker room, and Byron Leftwich has come out to manage what could well be the Steelers' last possession. A great game by the Steelers D was completely wasted.

Good position for a FG. FG is good!

Packers interior offensive line played like crap. No running game, few sustained drives, no touchdowns in the red zone. They hung the defense out to dry, who played well for most of the game and just got tired in the end.
Time of possession is the biggest story in this game.

... and let's not forget the best team of NFC and NFL overall. The Dallas Cowboys.. at least IMO. :)

heh I did say AFC. We shall see about Dallas they looked great last year as well. I am not sure why I picked the Packers in that match up though considering there defense doesn't look that great. I am very much an AFC fan and would rather see an AFC team win. Although, I can't stand Denver and will route for the Titans right now.

Cowboys look good but an awefull lot of their big plays are coming from guys running wide open downfield, when those close up Romo has to make the big throw. We'll see how they look week 10 or so after a bit more pounding.
Right now top AFC team has to be Bronco's followed by the Chargers and then Titans.
Top 3 in NFC are Cowboys, Eagles, and Packers.

I think the Titans are better than the Chargers. The Chargers defense looks rough without Merriman.

Titans O is really weak though, if someone stacks the line they may not be able to score the 10 points required to win after their D shuts the other team down.

It's about time. The man doesn't know anything about running a franchise. I am sure this is one of the greatest moments in the history of the Lions for most of their fans :p.
About the Titans, they actually have one of the best OL's in football. Also Collins is throwing the ball better than Young did so I think they can score points. I do admit if Young had his head on straight the Titans could be amazing.
