I'm surprised a lot of people are picking against the Ravens. Considering how weak the Texans defense is (minus Mario Williams) and how dominant the Ravens defense is.

I do wonder how they are going to play the Houston game. The city is a mess right now. I know they moved it to Monday night but they still might have to move the location of the game.

Well this answers my question
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3585348
It seems dumb to postpone it. Why not play the game in Dallas, San Antonio, or New Orleans?
They moved around the byes for three teams and are playing the game on Nov 9th. Still think they should have moved the game to a different location a few days ago.

All I have to say is... Aaron Rodgers is going to be good. He may not have the gaudy stats like Favre did, but he will be good enough to be one of the better QBs in the league in a couple of years, and is absolutely capable of leading Green Bay to a Super Bowl.

I'm just going to throw this out here now, even though it's only week 2. NFC > AFC :)

Adrian Peterson seems to have a monster game. I hate myself for dropping him in salary cap.
Edit: hahahaha, 3rd TD for Packers already. Rodgers having a good day. Looks like I picked wisely in survivor.

Don't forget there are a few new AFC teams on the uptick - the Broncos, the Bills, possibly the Jets and Titans (if they can somehow stabilize the Kordell Stewart situation they've got going). And then there's the NFC West, which is even more putrid than ever.
But it is looking like the disparity is disappearing... all those years of drafting at the top have finally paid off. ;)
Incidentally, it's really weird to hear Brian Billick as a color commentator on Fox...

The Chiefs have no offense whats ever. I am not sure who is worse Oakland or KC. They both look horrible.
Yog
Sep 14th, 2008, 12:32:00 PM
Ugh, that first half was kinda slow scoring wise for most teams. No fun in fantasy football so far except for Adrian Peterson owners.
I guess the one team that looked great was the Green Bay Packers.
Also, Bears defense is for real.
Jedi Master Carr
Sep 14th, 2008, 12:32:48 PM
Or Aaron Rogers, of course the Lions are horrible.

The Titans are dominating the Bengals right now. I think its between them and the Steelers for best team in the AFC.
Yog

It seems the Chiefs are utterly incapable of putting points up... against the Raiders..
Sorry to say it Carr, but this is going to be a long season for you :(
Jedi Master Carr
Sep 14th, 2008, 01:37:00 PM
Yeah I know it. I turned that game off. They honestly need a QB. Teams will just put 8 or 9 in the box daring them to throw all season. I think I will root for the Titans lol.

The Vikings have dominated that game but they have unable to get into the endzone which is their huge problem.
Dragon
Sep 14th, 2008, 01:41:31 PM
The Titans are dominating the Bengals right now. I think its between them and the Steelers for best team in the AFC.
The Titans defense has been good, but I haven't yet seen anything from their offense to really commend them except for some good individual runs from rookie RB Chris Johnson. They don't have much in the way of a receiving threat, and they're looking shaky at the quarterback position with Vince Young's histrionics. Just based on week one, you might as well throw the Broncos and Bills into that discussion.
Don't know what's happened to the Colts - they're getting dominated physically on offense, though their defense is still decent - but Tony Dungy is going to salvage something out of the season (they haven't even lost this game yet, and they've just now tied it with a TD and 2PC). The Chargers choked like it's the playoffs, but they're not DOA yet. The Patriots are still a very talented team with an unproven quarterback. And the Bills and the Jets have yet to be proven.
To put it succinctly, it's still awfully early to be crowning anybody anything. Not that I mind putting the Steelers at the top in whatever form possible. :)

Chris Johnson though looks amazing. He gives them a big offense threat. Now the QB situation is a problem. Collins doesn't hurt them, but if Young has his head on straight they could be a really great team.

Every game but two are very close right now. A few games are going back and forth.
How did Green Bay let Detroit take the lead?
Liam Jinn
Sep 14th, 2008, 02:07:35 PM
Colts win! Wow, that was a fun 2nd half.
Nathanial K'cansce
Sep 14th, 2008, 02:08:37 PM
The pack corrected that mistake. :)
Dragon
Sep 14th, 2008, 02:09:10 PM
Charles Woodson sets up the Pack for an insurance TD with a 4th-quarter interception and then ices the game away for good with a pick-6. This game was a lot closer than the score suggests.
Similarly, a fourth-quarter INT takes away Drew Brees's chance at taking back the lead over Washington. Skins will win it 29-24.
Carolina edged out the Bears 20-17 thanks to a 1-yard Jonathan Stewart TD and a critical stop on 4th and 1 at the 50 just after the two-minute warning.
Kitna, just stop throwing it. You're only improving the Packers' defensive scoring stats.
Jedi Master Carr

Yeah it was closer they let them come back in that one.

Broncos just got a free fumble recovery. The replays showed it was not a fumble, but the referee announced there was a technical problem with their video review, so the ruling on the field stands and Broncos have the ball.
Edit: So far, the Broncos are doing pretty good with 2 TDs. Chargers have not shown much.
- 103 yard kickoff return by Sproles.. amazing speed.
- spectacular pass / catch by Rivers / Chambers for a TD, cutting down on Broncos lead a bit.
- wooohooo! TD Marshall! He has been a monster. The Marshall plan is in effect! :D

Sep 14th, 2008, 05:12:00 PM
Chargers pick off Jay Cutler in the endzone and then take the lead on a huge strike to Darren Sproles! They're up by 7 after the 2PC! :eek
Chargers just got robbed again - Cutler fumbled on his own 10, but an inadvertent whistle killed the play before the Chargers could recover! >_<
And in Seattle, the Seahawks have just lost an overtime battle with the 49ers on a Joe Nedney field goal. Seattle really shot themselves in the foot with a pair of costly interceptions, one of which was returned for a TD, but they were also playing without their top 3 receivers.
And the Broncos have just scored the TD, and now they're going for 2!!!! And they made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 24 seconds to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! !!!!!!!!!!!
Yog
Sep 14th, 2008, 05:18:29 PM
... and here comes the Broncos! Charging up the field!
Marshall's 16th reception, a team record.
Edit: 18 receptions! 2 away from the all time NFL record! 2nd and goal!
Holy cow! Turn over again?? NO! Talk about drama!
Apparently, it is not ruled a fumble. I have no idea what is going on. Some kind of error here.
What ridiculous way that would have been to end the game. But it's not over yet!

What's done is done. But it's a bitter pill to swallow, especially when my Niners actually pulled it off in the end. And I didn't have enough guts to pick them. But playing in Seattle is tough, with the crowd noise and all, and I didn't think the Niners stood a chance.

Does an INT count?
Let's put a drive together, Steelers!
Argh, a very uncharacteristic drop by Hines Ward. But then, Ben is usually perfectly on-target with those throws; that one was a little far outside.
But he makes up for it on 3rd down. First blood by Pittsburgh!

Roethlisberger has been kind of struggling today. Good to see it moving.
Calleh
Sep 14th, 2008, 07:38:26 PM
Anderson, too, honestly, but, yes, I was expecting Roethlisberger to be doing better by now.
I was really surprised he took the deep shot to Willie Parker when he had Santonio Holmes wide open underneath for a first down.
Bryant McFadden just got called for illegal contact because Braylon Edwards clubbed him over the head as he went by. >_<
Jeff Reed adds a 48-yard FG, 10-0 Pittsburgh. The Browns are mustering a lot more defense than I expected.
GRRRRR, called roughing the passer on a clean hit by Lamarr Woodley. The Browns have done more than that to Ben after the pass...

Well, that was entertaining! I'm hoping the Steelers D will be able to clamp down on the Eagles better than the Cowboys did, because I know the Eagles will be awfully motivated to keep from going 1-2 next week.
Though hopefully the Steelers can avoid the ten penalties. ;)
10-5 for the week... not too bad, but I've still got a lot of ground to make up.

8-7? Hm, that's better than I thought. :lol
Although I still think the Chargers-Broncos game should have a teeny asterisk after it. O_o

Here is a YouTube clip:

It would have been hysterical if one of those defender picked up the ball and started running the opposite way for a TD, and after video review, it was ruled a Cowboys TD.

Unfortunately, because the play was blown dead when DeSean Jackson crossed the goal line, the only way the Cowboys could have ended up with the ball is if one of them managed to snag it before the whistle was blown, and even then, the play would be dead on the spot. Same thing that kept the Chargers from recovering Jay Cutler's fumble, really.
However, as my roommate pointed out, after Brian Westbrook flipped over the pile to score the touchdown, he was on a table getting a massage on the sideline. If he had been injured scoring that touchdown against the goal line defense, that'd still be on DeSean Jackson. As it is, he still managed to take his first career NFL touchdown off the board.
On one hand, I really hope he doesn't get the opportunity to do that against the Steelers... but on the other hand, everybody's going to be watching for it now. ;)

And what no one has pointed out, Adam Jones did turn around to pick up the ball. I'm betting he heard the whistle and stopped. So the people (re: media) blaming the Cow defense for not picking up the ball, are morons.
In my opinion, of course. ;)
