She is in the hospital since last night.. Liz is doing really really badly as I understand it, and needs all the prayers you can spare. I'm not sure how much she'd want me telling everyone, but I'm sorry to say that little Holden didn't make it. :cry

Her hubby writes:

i’m not sure how much lizzie really understands right now; she’s on a lot of meds and goes in and out of lucidity. we’re having a tough time keeping an iv in because her veins (which are notoriously bad anyway) are collapsed.

Yeah... it is no fun.

I had it, to a much lesser degree with my first child. Fortunately, I didn't have to be hospitalized, but I did lose 50lbs in 3 months when I was supposed to be gaining.

It's awful.. and it wreaks havoc on your whole body that is already working it's buns off to grow a human. To say nothing of electrolytes and dehydration and everything else... As small as she already is too, I'm sure it's a million times worse on her little body.

:cry and now I'm all stressed out and feeling icky again.

update from her hubby:

...a fast progress report; ... L’s kidneys are having some trouble due to malnutrition and the dehydration (which is being brought under control now that we have a central line in.) is not severe enough to require dialysis or anything because it was caught in time & our doc is treating aggressively now to try and hasten recovery. concerned about weight - down to 102, but holding. if she doesn’t start getting back on track by the end of the week, are going to start regulating hormones with meds, which will hopefully stop the symptoms from continuing and give her body a plateau to work up from.

She's also pretty sad and depressed right now, which doesn't help with her recovery. :( Much virtual :hug's to her.

Update: Liz is doing a little better physically, but emotionally is still in bad shape, which is to be expected. She's still in the hospital, still having a rough time of it.


physically we’re making some headway. met. seems to be doing it’s job - vomiting reduced greatly. there’s some tearing of the esophagus, but the bleeding was stopped with an endoscopy and tears will eventually heal. right now we’re just glad that stuff is staying down, and there’s pain meds for any discomfort in the meantime.

She's still not hydrated fully and her body hasn't realized its not pregnant anymore, which is making this ordeal stretch out more. :\

L’s weight is still hovering around 105 but it’s mostly due to physical and emotional stress. vomiting has been pretty well eliminated and if everything goes ok tomorrow we’re going to try to get L to eat something bland and see how her system takes it.

depending on how quickly her body recovers, she could be home as early as monday.

My suggestion would be that everyone who wants to send a card to Liz send to one central place, then when we get the address that person can send them all at one. I don't mind footing the package bill to send it all. If you want to do it this way then the people who want to send stuff just PM me for my address?

Just talked to Liz on AIM for a couple minutes, but the normality of the act was too much for her, and she needed to go. Gave her lots of hugs, told her to go get better and go love her man.
