With all the Thursday games this year and people possibly forgetting can we come to a consensus that is someone misses the Thurs game they get an auto loss but can still do the rest of their picks?

Same if they miss a week they get the lowest Score -1 so at least they can stay in the game rather than fall completely out.

If you miss the Thursday pick, you can still do your other picks. It wouldn't make sense to destroy the whole week because you missed one game. As for missing the whole week, I don't really have a problem with what you suggested. What does everyone else think?

Incomplete pass to Moss and Brady hit on the knee!!

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 11:21:49 AM
Sounds like Brady is hurt pretty bad too. Also KC has two fumble recoveries. Now if the Offense could actually gain yards.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 11:24:23 AM
He was limping really bad. And even with Brady on the field, Patriots did not look that impressive. Are we up for a shocking season upset? Despite my hatred, I almost hope not, because I picked them in survivor...

Jedi Master Carr

If Brady can't come back the Chiefs might actually have a chance.

Well the Chiefs defense is playing pretty good. They are actually getting pressure on the QB. They do have a good defense, but their offense is another problem.

Monster catch by Moss.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 11:58:48 AM
The Chiefs can't move the ball too much run right and run up the middle and then try to pass at 3rd and 6. They should pass on 1st and second down.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 12:11:07 PM
This must be frustrating to watch as a Chiefs fan, Carr. Patriots look awful with Brady out, yet the Chiefs don't seem to create anything.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 12:18:32 PM
Well the defense for the Chiefs is playing great. The offense has been rough, part of it is NE is putting 8 in the box and daring them to throw. The Chiefs just don't have any WR outside of Gonzalez and Bowe and they are covered most of the time. Although Bowe dropped two which hurt.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 12:22:25 PM
KC did get on the board thanks to Gonzalez catching several passes on that drive. I think caught 5 receptions in the first half.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 12:22:28 PM
At least the game is close. 7-3 now.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 12:25:56 PM
Yeah and they finally started throwing the ball downfield. It is interesting listening to the Chiefs broadcast, they have Len Dawson commentating, and he keeps saying that they they to challenge the DBs.

Edit, Huard comes and gets the Chiefs back in the game. Big catch by Dwayne Bowe. Now they need to hold the Pats.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:26:58 PM
Bah, interception, then unnecessary roughness after the play.

Watch them win now. Maybe now you see why I hate the Pats so much..

Nathanial K'cansce
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:32:45 PM
Buf with a fake field goal into a TD. SEattle coughs it up on the return, and the next play Edwards connects with Royal for a second TD in 30 seconds. Go Bills!

Jedi Master Carr

If the Chiefs lose it will because they couldn't move the ball. Larry Johnson played ok and Gonzalez and Bowe did their job but they had some bad play calling which killed them.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:43:28 PM
HOLY COW!!! What a run!!

Game is still way open. 1st and goal from the 5.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:46:55 PM

Some strange things going on here with the down makers. The Refs are looking poor out there.

Yog

Almost intercepted...

It had to happen. Pats wins.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:51:21 PM
Game over just couldn't get the ball into the end zone.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:52:04 PM
Big question now of course, what is going on with Brady and his knee.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 7th, 2008, 01:56:17 PM
That is a big question, speculation on that radio cast I heard is 6-8 weeks but that is a lot of speculation there. Honestly the Chiefs should have ran the ball on 1st and second down there with Johnson they could have gotten in. Well, at least it isn't all bad for the Chiefs. I liked what they did defensively and there is some promise on the offense with Darling and Charles. They have a good chance at beating the Raiders next week.

I am watching the Carolina - Chargers game right now, as it is more relevant for me right now in some fantasy leagues. Although, I keep my eye on that Cowboys scorepad.

Ugh...figures week 1 Brady gets injured.

Hard to say what the injury is, 6-8 weeks and the Pats are fine but he's out for the reason I still say they win the division but doubt a SB will be anywhere near in sight.

Cassell can win with this team, much improved Defense that should only get better and Moss & Welker on offense will make it easy for Cassell and give him some options.

Liam Jinn
Sep 7th, 2008, 04:13:19 PM
Felix Jones scores a TD with an 11 yard run. Not too bad for the first carry in the NFL. Goooo Cowboys!

jjwr
Sep 7th, 2008, 04:27:45 PM
Not taking anything away from the Cowboys as they are a top 3 offense but this Cleveland D, especially the secondary is horrible.

Moreth
Sep 7th, 2008, 04:45:48 PM
This is really what I expected - the Browns have offensive weapons, but they haven't yet matured as a team. Case in point - with a 4th and 3 deep in Cowboys territory, down by 21 with just over ten minutes to go, they kick a field goal instead of going for the TD.

They are not getting three more scoring possessions in this game. They've already given up.

Yog
Sep 7th, 2008, 04:49:02 PM
I still think Cowboys are one of the best teams today, maybe Eagles and Steelers were better, but that is about it.

Moreth
Sep 7th, 2008, 04:53:52 PM
Obviously hard to judge the competition at this point, but, yes, those are the three teams that came in and took care of business in all phases of the game. I'm disappointed that the Steelers allowed a pair of garbage TDs late in the game - they seemed to slip into a preseason mentality rather than just closing the deal on a thoroughly beaten team.

:eek:eek:eek:eek

Jake Delhomme connects with Dante Rosario on a TD pass from 14 yards out with no time left to beat the Chargers on the final play of the game! I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW!!!

Pats without Brady, Colts can't play defense, San Diego was somewhat lackluster, Jacksonville looks terrible against Tennessee...

At this point, it looks like Pittsburgh might be the best team in the AFC.

And yes, everything I'm hearing/reading is saying that Brady tore the ACL in his left knee. He's done for the year if that's the case.

Dragon
Sep 7th, 2008, 10:49:16 PM
That's terrible news. :( Eager as I've been to see the Patriots knocked off the top, I never wish injury on a player. I wish Tom Brady as speedy a recovery as possible.

That said, I still don't think winning the division with Matt Cassel at the helm is out of the question. Last year, I'd still be predicting it. One game just isn't enough to predict the season's outcome for anybody.

I will say that this week made Pittsburgh's hardest schedule in NFL history look a bit easier with the Colts collapsing, the Chargers choking, and the Jaguars ja...losing. I will also say, to play devil's advocate, that the Steelers looked just about this dominant against the Browns, the Bills, and the 49ers to start off last season before they were struck by injuries to the likes of Ryan Clark and Aaron Smith, who are each a lot more vital to the defense than anybody was giving them credit for. Improved line play is encouraging, especially against a powerful pass rusher like Mario Williams, but they still need time to establish themselves as a unit.

Still, 10-6 doesn't look at all out of reach, even figuring in a couple of dud games. Here's hoping they can give Cleveland their second pounding at home in a row and push their winning streak against the Browns to 10. :)

(Oh, and I'm looking pretty bad right now... 8-6 heading into Monday Night. But we all missed the Colts-Bears game.)

Yog

Wow, I fell asleep over the Colts game. Could someone tell me what happened there? Was it the Chicago defense, or did the Colts just suck?

Both. The Bears D played well and forced turnovers, but the Colts offense was somewhat gimped without Dallas Clark for most of the game (not to mention the entire interior of the Colts O-line is a little suspect until Jeff Saturday can return).

I'd throw the Titans there too. Their defense looked incredible against Jacksonville. They were all over the QB. They also have a great rookie RB in Chris Johnson. If Vince Young would do more I would make them the favorites.

Wow. The Raiders are turning in the worst performance of the week. By far. They're making Jay Cutler look like John Elway and anyone who lines up behind him look like Tarrell Davis.

Is there any team in any major American sport that has been more dismal over the past five years? They've had 19 wins since they lost the Super Bowl before the 2003 season. They have finished last in their division each of those years. They've had four head coaches, none of whom, arguably, has been really allowed to coach under Al Davis's regime.

If they weren't the Raiders, I'd really feel sorry for them.

I have no problem with that. In fact, there is nothing more delicious than having my archfiend suffer in defeat. Come and get some whopping! :spank

Edit: It is really Liam's call though, as he is running it, I think.

Same if they miss a week they get the lowest Score -1 so at least they can stay in the game rather than fall completely out.

Didn't we agree on this? So Eb, you'd have 5-11 for this week.

Like I said, I've been away. What I really wanted was a chance to play. 5-11 is fine with me. Satan needs all the help he can get. Put me down for 5-11 and add me to the fray! :shootin
