It had been muggy and miserable until the downpour started. This was not a micro-climate system, either. The whole district was under cloud and rain, and if you asked her, the it needed a good rinse. Coruscant still stunk. Her nose scrunched as she dove through the onslaught rolling off the awning. Inside the café , the shop owner had raised the temperature controls to compensate for wet guests. She ran her fingers through her jaw-length hair and loosened her red and black coat. Except for the bit of water that had snuck into her collar, her body was dry. She now wished she had bought the matching hat, but there had been no time. Mili had been practically shoved from the speeder and told to be at Lorrug's by eleven. Well, “Eleven hundred.” Military types were funny about their time. She checked her chrono. It was 10 till now.

Mili found an empty table, draped her raincoat over the chair, and settled in. The twi-lek waiter ambled up a minute later.

“Breakfast tea.” k'Vik said in a proper Coruscanti accent. The tea came a minute later. It had been many months since she had proper loose-leaf. Fortunately, she had been given a generous lump of credits as she had been shoved from the speeder. Gingerly, she sipped, and hummed. It was a delight. She settled against the chair, and set the cup against the saucer again. Outside, the rain continued to drum against the building in a steady rhythm.

"The rest should be here shortly." A voice stated, as a tall man sat down next to her. The Black Man had been there for almost an hour, making sure the area was secure. While he had personally vetted the cafe owner and his staff, 'Othniel' knew not everything was perfect. And bribes also only went so far. The Black Man nodded to the returning waiter. "Caf. Black. No cream or sugar."

Estelle Russard

Estelle had taken advantage of the building overhang to shelter from most of the downpour, while watching Lorrug's from her vantage point of across the street. It was not a particularly busy thoroughfare outside the cafe, but that was relatively speaking. This was, after all, Imperial Center - and population density was just something Coruscanti residents were simply used to.

Her partner, Aurelias Kazaar had entered the cafe some twenty minutes ago from the rear laneway. Or, that had been the plan. He'd been keen to check the place out before meeting with the Head of SpecOps. Russard suspected it was to check out Othniel himself, more than the actual establishment, as that would have already been taken care of by The Black Man's men simply as a matter of protocol. But anything to do it his way. Her partner was a Rebel in more than one sense of the word.

Estelle checked her wrist chrono - 1100 hrs on the nose - and stepped from the curb into the teeming street, glad she'd pulled her hair back into a tight ponytail to help keep the frizzies down to a minimum. A quick-step across to the other side saw her catch a drenching from the thrumming rain, her long jacket protecting her from the worst of it. Mopping her face with a handkerchief, Estelle stepped inside to the welcome dryness of Lorrug's and immediately located Othniel, seated with a cup of coffee and a dark-haired companion. She joined them directly, pocketing her kerchief and shrugging out of her dripping coat.

Aurelias Kazaar

Kazaar was late on purpose. Just any way t'ruffle th'feathers of 'Mister Dark'n Spooky'. He came from th'kitchen area, an unlit cigar in his mouth. Unlit 'cause it was too wet outside t'even bother lighting...and th'fact the cafe was non-smoking. Frackin' health nuts.

He recognized Rawl, sittin' with his back t'the doorway, and nodded in greetin'. Who says ya can't be friendly with ya fellow spies. 'Sides, never know when th'Empire's gonna bust in th'break the place up.

Kazaar slid into th'seat nearest th'wall and nodded. "Who's th'dame?"

The Black Man
Sep 1st, 2008, 01:16:11 PM
"Her name is Milivikal k'Vik." The Black Man answered. "An associate (http://sw-fans.net/forum/member.php?u=3303) recommended her to me. She'll be working with you for a while."

"You gotta be kiddin' me." Kazaar snorted. "Th'Kid and I work alone."

'Othniel' took a sip from his caf. "That may be the case. But she's needed for this operation. So she stays with you." He turned towards Milivikal. "How's your tea?"

Milivikal k'Vik

She let a corner of her mouth drift up.

"Tis rather good." Mili took another sip to reinforce the point. It would be difficult not to pull Kazaar's leg some. His partner, though: She was cool and collected. Professional. The eye of the storm. She was looking Milivikal over with a microscope. Kazaar was just flat opposed. He didn't need specific reasons. He'd found his partner and didn't need anyone else who might be unpredictable besides himself.

"I have, ah, abilities you may find of use." Her voice took on a smooth musical quality. It was pleasant before, but now it held a sweet clarity.

Estelle Russard
Sep 2nd, 2008, 10:51:21 PM
Estelle deliberately omitted giving Kazaar a 'look'. She didn't need to anyway - her partner could tell even by the tilt of her chin that she was silently chiding him for being obtuse. Thats right, press the ol' man's buttons, partner, and spend another fortnight in the brig. Would Kazaar never learn?

Russard took upon herself the mantle of reasonableness. And why not? Othniel was her superior, and it was often the case that agents in the field were not privy to all the peices of the big picture. In fact, it was almost a provisional.

She acknowledged k'Vik with a hint of a smile, and noticed a strange quality in the woman's manner of speaking. Hard to express just what it was, though. She would ask Aurelias later if he had noticed the same thing.

Estelle addressed The Black Man, "In what capacity, sir?

"In what capacity, what, agent?" Othniel repeated in his officious fashion. He loved doing that, Russard had noticed.

She felt, rather than saw, Kazaar sneer.

"In what capacity is Ms k'Vik needed for our operation?" She lowered her voice to a whisper, "I understand it is somewhat of a mole-hunt?"

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 4th, 2008, 07:58:57 PM
Kazaar snorted. "Probably 'cause he figures Mystery Lady 'ere can dig up more dirt on whoever th'traitor is." He chewed on th'tip o'his cigar a bit. "'Specially since she ain't a Rebel."

Th'Black Man stared at Kazaar like he'd just figured outta way t'destroy th'Empire and cure all diseases. "How did you figure that out?"

Another smirk. "Like it's that hard. Ya only got four people in this place and that ain't countin' Rawl, who's sittin' far 'noug away t'where he can't hear what we're talking 'bout. I bet Bossman don't even know this meetin's going on." His black eyes stared directly into Othniel's. "What? Afraid ya little Clubhouse gotta couple moles who'll go back'in tell 'im? Or someone else maybe?"

The Black Man
Sep 4th, 2008, 08:26:32 PM
The Black Man didn't bite at Kazaar's line about 'the Clubhouse'. He took a sip of his caf and kept his stony face. "Face facts, Kazaar. Miss k'Vik comes highly recommended. She knows her stuff and does a good job. You and Russard are here because not only are you good operatives, you are also hardly ever seen at HQ."

Kazaar muttered something which sounded like him wanting to keep it that way.

"The three of you will begin investigating who is the traitor within Rebel Intel. I have personally vetted my entire organization, but Belargic's group hasn't. Start immediately. The cafe will be empty for another 20 minutes. I suggest you start now." He finished his caf and rose from his chair. "I'll be in touch."

A few seconds later, he and Rawl disappeared outside into the rain.

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 4th, 2008, 08:34:43 PM
Kazaar let out 'nother *snort* and ignored th'look he got from th'Kid. "So ya gonna just sit there'n drink ya tea or ya gonna show us what ya got?"

"Kazaar!" Estelle answered sharply, earnin' another smirk.

"Aw c'mon, Kid. Ain't ya curious t'see what th'dame's got? 'Specially if we're gonna be workin' together forra while?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 7th, 2008, 08:26:57 PM
"Well?" Kazaar's lips moved, but no sound came.

For Kazaar, it was silent. He couldn't hear anything but the beat of his own heart and the air to and from his lungs.

I am sure that you will be able to make use of this skill. Milivikal's voice was light and airy, and it seemed to be distant, even though she was right at the table. Noise flooded back to Kazaar.

"I've the ability to manipulate sound over grand areas." She explained to everyone at the table.

"For all the rest of the restaurant knows, I'm proclaiming this tea's greatness." She took another sip.

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 7th, 2008, 09:36:36 PM
Aw great. A frackin' Force user. Kazaar mentally shook 'is head in distain at th'thought o'teaming up with an FU. Not that they didn't have their uses, they sure as hell did. But th'Rebel spy was never a big fan of 'em. Took all th'glory f'themselves without spreadin' it 'round. There were times, mostly when Kazaar was pretty drunk, he almost wished th'Alliance never heard o'Skywalker and his little merry band o'pals. True, they were all dead, but still...they were revered f'all they'd done. While Kazaar had plenty o'pals who'd never ben remembered f'dying where they did in honor o'the Rebellion. Part o'life, but still pissed 'im off.

Still he had t'admit, he was pretty impressed at Milivikal's abililities. "Yeh...she'll do." He started t'rise from his chair, earnin' a look from Estelle. "What? I wanna go out'n smoke. 'Sides, our benevolent leader tol' us we only had 20 minutes. I ain't in th'mood t'sit 'round and wait f'the cafe t'open again."

"Aurelias." Th'kid spoke diplomatically. "She may want to finish her tea."

Kazaar *harrumped*. "Fine. Let'er finish. I'll be outside."

Estelle Russard
Sep 8th, 2008, 06:55:09 PM
Estelle's brown eyes found k'Vik's own, no apology in them for her partner, but definitely empathetic to the desire that the dark-haired beauty might like to crack his nose for him. She wouldn't be the first.

"He's not so great with new people" Russard said, by way of explanation. "In fact, he's not so great with people overall" she added with a grin.

"I dont know exactly what you just did with the sound thing to make him so agreeable, but it must have been something impressive, Milivik-kval... sorry, your name is a mouthful" Russard coloured slightly at her awkward enounciation, but ploughed on. "Would you like to tell me a little about yourself?" Her smile conspiratorial as she added, thinking of her partner out in the rain,"Take your time - enjoy your tea."

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 8th, 2008, 10:37:58 PM
"He would not have lasted thirty seconds in the Old Republic's Diplomatic Corps. So he is not a member of the Corps, no?" She agreed, even though she was still drinking her tea. She set her tea down and smiled.

"I gave him a demonstration of my abilities, and Kazaar was satisfied that I would be of help. Ah, I am much older than I look, and you may call me Mili. Or k'Vik. Whichever is prefered." She added. She rubbed her finger over the edge of the tea cup. It hummed a high pitched but pleasant note. Mili hummed along, adding in the third movement of Insensatefor a moment, and stopped. Milivikal finished the bit of tea at the bottom.

"We should join your uncouth friend." She said while she rose from her chair. "'Tis already annoyed plenty with social graces."

Estelle Russard
Sep 9th, 2008, 06:40:36 PM
"Psh, he'll get over it" Estelle assured as she angled back into her coat, nevertheless moving toward the exit in order to rejoin her partner outside. "He's just eager to have a smoke would be my guess." The statement was not entirely true. Kazaar, no doubt, was suckin back on a smelly Sarcorrian the minute he'd exited the cafe, but this business with a suspected traitor amongst their ranks had him antsy. And Estelle, too.

The intel was ambiguous at best. Mirko -- who had a knack for hearing things -- had identified some coincidences of interest a few weeks ago, bringing it to Kazaar's attention (Spenny always sent Cowboy his best scuttlebutt). However, after being passed on, the information had sat idle, dismissed by the proofers as just more white noise. Its real worth had not been immediately recognised. The situation on Obas had necessitated a second look at all incoming intelligence traffic, and Spendrim's intel got closer attention.

One name seemed to keep occuring in apparently innocuous communications between several known Imperial attache's, raising some suspiciouns, especially in the aftermath of Obas. How Mirko came by his leads, Kazaar wasn't saying. The name used in the communiques was not one that was familiar, and indeed, appeared to be in code itself within the messages. Encryption was still working on that possibility.

"Eager to get down to business, too" Russard added, stepping out of the cafe and bracing herself against the wind and rain. She turned to Mili, suddenly very businesslike, "Othniel has vouched for you and that's fine for me. You'll have to prove yourself to my partner, and I have no doubt you will, but dont be mistaken in thinking Im not watching closely. Alot is at stake on this trip - and I wont be taking any chances. Not on anyone."

Aurelias Kazaar

Th'alley was empty. Wherever Kazaar was, it wasn't there. Th'Kid was gettin' ready t'curse her rebellious partner (and apologize t'Mili f'doing it), when a nondescript speeder pulled up next to 'em. Th'window started t'roll down and Estelle spied Kazaar inside. "Here, Kid." He tossed 'er a pair o'gloves, lot like th'ones he was wearing. "Get in an' don't touch anything. You too Birdie."

Th'leather seat made a *crinklin'* sound as Estelle slid 'cross it. When she saw Kazaar wasn't smokin' a cigar, she asked. "Where are we going?"

"Th' Entertainment District (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Uscru_Entertainment_District)." Kazaar pulled th'speeder into th'skylanes. "Gotta call from th'Wannabes. 'Parently they saw th'Burning Forest at Th'Kandy Kane."

Estelle still cringed at Kazaar's nickname for Zadge Talran and Dayboy. Th'two were th'first recruits she'd even found and, even if they weren't th'most experienced o'people, did a good job. But Kazaar had t'treat 'em like inferiors...she brushed aside her thoughts. "Lubomir Forrest, the Imperial High General?"

"Yup." Kazaar smirked. "Guy's 'parently a regular there. Has his own special room'n all."

"What where the Wanna--" Th'Kid cursed at usin' Kazaar horrid name for 'em. "Doing at the Kandy Kane?"

Th'Rebel spy chuckled. "Wouldja believe tryin' t'get Specks laid." He smirked again. "Always figured that girlfriend o'his..."

"She's not his girlfriend..."

"Shaddup, Kid. I always figured she'd do it." Another chuckle. "Get this...guy was so excited t'be o'use, he frackin' forgot why he was there. Ain't that a kaffer."

"Kazaar, why are we headed there?"

Th'look in 'er partner's face turned deadly serious. "Black Man may've checked out th'new addition, but I wanna see what she can do 'erself. Way I figure that general's a sittin' duck." An evil grin came on Kazaar's face and he angled his gaze towards Mili. "Wanna deal th'Empire a blow?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 13th, 2008, 12:24:44 PM
k'Vik had silently accepted the gloves. Kazaar, when it came to action, lacked nonsense. Ironically, it entertained her.

Most of what followed flew over her head. She had no idea what either were alluding to until Forrest came up.

"I'll happily bloody the Imperial nose." Her face brightened slightly, and the left side of her mouth pulled upward. It was true. Originally Milivikal hadn't cared for either side. She had no interest in the Rebellion's causes, and did not care about the Imperial machine so long as it left her alone. The Imperial machine had not left k'Vik to her own devices. It would suffer her careful wrath, but especially Esalis.

Estelle Russard
Sep 13th, 2008, 09:05:14 PM
Estelle gave her partner a sideways look. She did not feel they needed to try Mili, nor did she agree with going looking for trouble, like Aurelias did.

But, it was interesting to note k'Vik's response, and neither of the two agents missed it. Was she here just for a lark, or was there something more to it? For now, they couldnt tell, but what was important was that she showed a respectable eagerness for the task, but without the crazy, Empire-hating zeal that some new recruits displayed - a trait that was dangerous to the rookie as well as to those around him. Mili was self-possessed. An encouraging sign.

The Black Man may just know what he is doing after all.

"We dont want undue attention, Aurelias" Estelle warned, still not liking the plan. She turned to Mili, "We get in quick and quiet. Send a message, thats all"

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 13th, 2008, 10:44:50 PM
Th'speeder continued its trek through Coruscant air traffic, Kazaar keepin' a pretty normal pace. "Shouldn't we be concerned the General will leave before we get there?" Estelle was concerned their sidemission would result in failure and unneeded deaths.

"Nah. 'Parently Forrest doesn't go see his 'girls' that often. So he likes spendin' 'quality time' with 'em when he does. If ya get m'drift." Kazaar gave a dirty smirk, then pulled th'speeder outta traffic, headin' down towards th'entertainment district.

Th'city planet 'round th'three changed from sophistication, t'a more garish look. Large signs proclaimin' where th'casinos, dance clubs, an' restaurants replaced th'more demure government offices and business buildings.

Kazaar slid th'speeder into an alley and turned towards Mili. "Two blocks down is th'Kandy Kane. Forrest's room is on th'left side." He relayed th'info, as if he were talkin' 'bout th'weather and not plottin' th'death of an Imperial general. "Or that's what Specks said. We'll be waitin'.

"Don't frack up."

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 14th, 2008, 08:15:55 PM
Mili shot him a glance that stated, under no uncertain terms, that there would be no fracking whatsoever. She peeled herself out of the speeder, and into the drizzle outside. She heard the Kandy Kane before she saw the entrance. Loud "dance" music thumped inside.

"No cover for you, miss." The bouncer said. k'Vik nodded and smiled slyly. Inside, it was fairly typical strip club fair. Dim, flashing lights, hardly clad females of multiple species. She'd been to such places before, but rarely, and only for business purposes. The Kandy Kane was also much larger than the other establishments. Typical of it's Coruscant location, it was multiple levels. She had three stairways to climb before she got near the VIP lounge.

The music pounded on, but not for her. She filtered the noise out. She was left with a lot of heavy breathing and rubbing noises. Milivikal ignored it while she worked her way toward the VIP area, upstairs. She had no intention of using the lift.

"Whatcha got underneath that coat?" A patron had placed a hand on her shoulder. It was large and sturdy. A Gran's. She turned slowly.

"More than you can handle." Her words came out quietly, but the Gran could hear them perfectly. They carried with them all of her potential dangers, and her ice-blue eyes confirmed them. The hand removed itself. She placed a finger to her lips and shook her head. There were no more interruptions.

The bouncer at the bottom of the stairway and lift simply stood aside. There were a lot of different girls at the club, and they were hired and quit at such a rate that it was easier to simply let an attractive woman by than go through the rigamorole of checking credentials.

There were several doors, but only one on the left. Still clad in gloves, Milivikal gave the handle a twist. It opened.

Forrest was in his uniform, and looked at her expectantly.

"Oh, you'll do, you'll do." he said. On the table, various bits of leather and metal formed into cuffs, a gag, rope, tape, a whip, and other interesting bits of equipment. In a way, it made sense. A man could only be in charge for so much.

"The safe word is ice cream." k'Vik said coldly.

"Ice cream." He repeated, and nodded.

"I want you to put the cuffs on your feet, and then your hands." She instructed, mimicing Esalis's voice. That woman's voice. Ugh. But it fit here. Forrest moved at a sure pace. k'Vik watched with amused satisfaction as he bound himself expertly. He wouldn't be able to do much more than writhe about.

"Have you been bad?" She asked.

"Y... yes." There was some hesitance in his voice. Something about k'Vik made him nervous.

"Do you need to be..." she grabbed the cat o' nine tails, "punished?"

Forrest found the words in his mouth would not come out. He began to yell as she approached, but no sound issued. The tails wipped across his throat. The tips were not supposed to hum, but they did. It sliced through his jugular. k'Vik turned away and left the General to his gurgle. She pulled the coat off, and held it over her shoulder before she walked out the door.

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 16th, 2008, 07:46:16 PM
"I don't trust 'er." Th'older Rebel agent spoke as th'drizzle kept fallin' on th'speeder. "Don't frackin' know 'er. Don't frackin' trust 'er."

"You trusted me when we met (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showpost.php?p=190940&postcount=15) and, as you put it, you didn't fracking know me." Th'Kid pointed out with a sarcastic smile, as she slid into the front seat. "And I'd like to think I turned out well."

Kazaar snorted. "That was different. What was I gonna do, leave Spenny in th'hands o'the Imps? It was either trust ya or leave 'im. Wasn't 'bout t'do that."

"So why didn't I go with her?"

Another snort, this time mixed witha chuckle. "Your frackin' choice. Ya are th'boss o'this operation, ya know. 'Sides we both know ya ain't dressed for th'part. Not sayin' ya looks wouldn't let ya in, Kid." He gave 'er a sideways look and smirked. "But outside o'walking in there in ya underwear, I doubt they'd let ya in. 'Sides, Gracey didn't let ya keep th'boots." Th'two shared a chuckle.

"Here she comes." Estelle noted, not unecessarily, as th'two Rebels stepped outta th'speeder. No Imps were followin' so that had t'count f'something. Kazaar and th'Kid saw th'expression on 'Dark Lady's' face. It was pretty clear th'Burnin' Forest wasn't gonna be burnin' anymore villages down.

But Kazaar didn't seem convinced. Estelle was pretty sure small part o'it was an act, but she knew her partner wasn't th'type t'accept someone's skills on one mission. Sure as hell hadn't happened with 'er. Kazaar glared at k'Vik, then got back in th'speeder. "I'm gettin' rid o'this thing. I'll meet ya two later. Give ya dames 'nough time t'get t'know each other." He smirked, then pulled outta th'alley.

Estelle Russard
Sep 20th, 2008, 05:41:19 PM
"Looks like things went well" Estelle remarked to k'Vik, offering no further opinion than that for the time being.

Mili appeared in complete control to Russard, a very cool customer.

She gestured towards a cab-bay and the pair moved towards it, "We'll go to the safehouse, get some gear and talk strategy. Cowboy will meet us there"

Once in the cab, the conversation stopped altogether, Russard not asking anything, Mili not offering. They got out at a transport terminus where Russard led them to a speeder parked in the back. Taking this, they made it to the safehouse in under 45 minutes. It was a roundabout route, but standard.

Letting them in using a coded key, Russard tossed off her coat and went into the kitchen to put on some tea. Then, pointedly, she turned things back to the Kandy Kane.

"You've obviously done such errands before, Mili?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 20th, 2008, 07:39:51 PM
"Not precisely." k'Vik had never performed an assassination before, so it was something new.

"I smuggled goods for a time. It requires a diverse skill set." She added, and smiled a little. Estelle had an air of confidence and professionalism that Mili's Jedi training appreciated. Conversely, the Jedi side found Kazaar abominable and sloppy. The dark, mischievous part found him fascinating.

"Ah." Estelle said, and she served the tea.

"His throat was sliced open with a whip." k'Vik explained in the manner one would state that it might rain. She took a sip of her tea. The most she got from Estelle was a blink, and the slightest of pauses, the lightest of blushes.

"It should keep the coroners busy." Estelle said.

"It shall." k'Vik smiled.

Estelle Russard
Sep 20th, 2008, 08:13:33 PM
"Kazaar will bring us food when he comes" she said warmly, as she curled up into one end of the sofa.

"I knew a Jedi once" she said, stirring her cup. "I know a little of the type of skills they use, manipulation of sounds, and even thoughts." Estelle wasn't suggesting outright that Mili had used the force, but wanted to let her know that she wasn't ignorant of such abilities. "He would never have killed anyone though" she said, a softness touching her eyes at the memory of Oriadin - a friend not seen in a very long while. "The Jedi have a code, or something." A small sip, "Everyone has a code of some sort, I suppose. The Rebels, the Imperials. Even Kazaar, though his often appears conflicted, I know." A small laugh. Clearly, Estelle was very fond of her brusque partner.

"Are..you a Jedi of some sort?"

It was a bold question, but Estelle's curiosity was hard to curb.

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 20th, 2008, 09:12:23 PM
Milivikal's jaw set at Estelle's question. Mili took a sip of her tea.

"Not as your friend is." Mili stated, after a minute of thought.

"But," she added, with a pause for more tea, "Most Jedi will kill. They endeavor to avoid killing, but self defense is self defense. For them, there are matters of black and white, of Light and Dark, and not a sliver of grey. They very much have a code, Estelle. Very much so."

"You like Aurelias." k'Vik smiled. "I think he is interesting. I am not so sure he knows what to make of me. A bit of intruding on your dynamic, no?"

Estelle Russard
Sep 21st, 2008, 03:56:42 PM
A grin, "Kazaar isn't as bad as he makes out. He just doesn't like surprises -- and surprises from the brass he dislikes the most. That's probably more the gist of it than anything, Othniel just springs these things and we are expected to roll with it.

You could say it's just part of the job, but my partner tends to take it more personally. He's not the best behaved agent we have. He'll like you well enough, I feel it."

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 22nd, 2008, 07:14:15 PM
"Nice t'know ya became a Force User, Kid." Kazaar's voice came from behind 'em, as he strode in from th'kitchen. He'd been there 'bout thirty seconds, slippin' in right after Estelle walked out with th'tea. He'd missed th'debate 'bout Force users plus k'Vik statin' that Estelle 'liked' him.

Kazaar was pretty sure th'Kid'd made th'statement 'bout him 'coming t'like k'Vik 'cause she knew he was there. Wasn't like she couldn't smell th'cigar smoke from th'kitchen as he dumped th'12-pack o'beer he'd brought or missed th'scent o'kommerken steak (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kommerken_steak) he'd grabbed from o'place nearby. Wasn't th'best steak in th'world but th'way th'Rebel figured, if their new 'best friend' wouldn't eat steak, somethin' was seriously fracked 'bout er.

"Got a look atta Holonet broadcast after I dumped th'speeder." He tossed th'food containers in front o'Mili and th'Kid. "They found Forrest." Kazaar blew smoke outta his mouth, savorin' th'flavor. "They're saying he died of a stroke. No mention of a murder or anything." A smirk. "Guess dying inna known brothel'll cause anyone t'fracking figure outta way t'cover it up."

Kazaar raised his beer up in salute t'th'Dark Lady. "You'll do f'now."

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 22nd, 2008, 09:50:11 PM
Mili nodded. Right now, it was all she needed.

"Tis it strange that one can have a stroke whilst the aorta leaks profusely o'er the floor?" k'Vik asked.

Kazaar grunted from behind his beer. He had left the pack on the counter, still in their disposable carton. The beer clinked for a moment before bottle sprang forth and flew into Milivikal's hand. She held it for a moment, as if it were a totally foreign object, and pulled the cap off with a plasteel dagger. She scrunched her nose at the smell. Then she took a drink, and the rest of her face followed the nose's lead.

"Kazaar, tis dreadful!" She protested. Estelle put a hand to her face and Kazaar laughed while Mili held her tounge out. Mili recovered her composure as Aurelias stopped laughing.

"Hah! Oh well. Bottom's up." She grunted, emulating the Rebel Agent, and chugged the beer down.

"I shall be intoxicated! Forrest was a vile, vile man and I want no image of him beyond distant, blurred memory." She added in her own crystal, almost sing-song voice.

Aurelias Kazaar

"Drink 'nough and ya never know." Kazaar smirked, takin' another swig o'his beer. Despite k'Vik's protests, th'beer tasted damn good. He'd even gotten th'Kid t'have one before, an' while her face scrunched up at th'taste, she'd professed t'like it. Even if she preferred stuff that was a bit fruitier.

Estelle took a bite of her steak and smiled at the flavor. Kazaar knew how she liked it. Th'Kid kept sippin' her tea but decided she'd have a bit of wine later. Just like she wasn't gonna wonder how Mili killed th'Burnin' Forrest. She'd done th'job and that was all Kazaar and she cared 'bout. "You got rid of the speeder."

"Yup." Th'former bounty hunter puffed away on his cigar, before takin' a bite of his steak. "Even went over th'thing twice f'bugs. Nothin'. Speeder was clean. Also helped we didn't touch anythin'." His head tilted towards k'Vik. "Ya can keep th'gloves by th'way. You'll need 'em.

"Anythin' else from Dark'n Spooky? Or are th'two o'you gonna pretend t'be roommates forra while." He snorted. "Maybe ya can hold slumber parties'n braid each other's hair."

Estelle Russard
Sep 23rd, 2008, 09:07:34 PM
The two women exchanged a bleak look with one another, as if that's all girls did, braid each other's hair. What planet was Kazaar from?

Estelle tucked into her steak, there had been a time when the mental image of someone's aorta rupturing in bloody death would have curbed her appetite. Things change.

"We haven't heard anything more at this point from Othniel. Take it easy on that (this to Mili), it can creep up quick on you if you're not used to it, though I think it doesn't hurt to unwind a little after..er..after an assignment like you just had"

Russard wondered if force users were as affected by alcohol and other stimulants, like regular people were. A question for another time, maybe.

"We need a code name for Mili" she said inbetween mouthfuls, adding, "this is really good, Kazaar. During the mission, we will be using pseudonyms...only a few operatives within the Alliance know us by them. Kazaar is Cowboy, no points for guessing why, and I am Ophelia. The boss, as you know, is Othniel. We should assign one for you also, Mili. Do you have a preference? Keep in mind, it must be something that isnt linked to your real life, past or present. It is to keep your involvement hidden most especially from those we are investigating."

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 24th, 2008, 07:51:18 PM
Code names, feh! Kazaar cringed at th'thought. He'd always thought they were annoyin', from th'moment he'd been given 'Cowboy' as his name years ago. Pointless? Who th'frack knew. Sure they had their uses (like when he was forced t'actually fill outta report), but far as he was concerned, it was just as easy signin' with a fake name than a codename. But everyone loved their little secrets. 'Specially government types.

"Just call 'er Dark Lady or Songbird." Kazaar reached forra 'nother beer. "If ya really wanna go that way." He shrugged. "Or if ya really wanna get under their skin, go by Grac--." Th'Kid kicked 'im under th'table, earnin' a smirk. "Or somethin'."

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 24th, 2008, 10:14:53 PM
k'Vik put a finger to her lips in thought. She was a little buzzed from the lack of food. She grabbed another beer anyway.

"Dark Lady?" She said the words as if they were new and experimental. Each sound seemed to be a question. "mmmmm."

She too, started into the steak. It was, unlike the beer, good. k'Vik didn't like beer, but she wanted to wash the image of Forrest's blubbery body from her mind.

"This is good." She said perfectly, while she chewed.

"Have the details of the task been revealed yet?"

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 25th, 2008, 10:17:12 PM
"Not really." Kazaar was gonna hafta grab another case o'beer. Birdy 'ere was packing 'em away like he did. "It was what 'bout six...eight months ago?" Th'Kid nodded. "We were onna mission (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12598) when it got busted up by a buncha Imps we weren't expectin' t'show up. We found out we hadda kath hound in th'coop. Guys went after a couple diplos and got one of 'em. Kid did a helluva job makin' sure they didn't get th'other." That 'caused th'Kid t'blush both inside and out. Milivikal had th'feeling Kazaar wasn't one t'dole out praise like a banker did cash.

"Things slowed down a bit after that." Estelle took over, probably 'cause she remembered it better than Kazaar. "Of course, there were some distractions (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17108) , but I think Othniel and several others decided to be more cautious.

"I suspect." She took another bite of her steak. "Othniel believes it may be best for us to go into this as quietly as possible. No one likes paranoia and I don't think it would be wise for us to add to that if we barge in and try to find out who it is."

Kazaar snorted. "Just be as easy t'scan every Reb out there t'figure out who did it."

Th'Kidd looked puzzled. "You don't actually believe that do you?"

'Nother snort. "Hell no." Kazaar then took a swig o'beer. "But Othy loves playin' people so much...just might want us t'do that. Never know with that whackjob."

Estelle Russard
Sep 26th, 2008, 11:40:21 PM
"....Anyway.." Estelle decided not trundle out that ol' tune of Kazaar's and swung the conversation back to necessities, "Needless to say, trust is an issue in this scenario"

She watched, a tad disconcerted, as k'Vik knocked back her second beer without blinking. She cleared her throat and continued, "There are going to be a lot of unknown factors in regards to personnel in trying to flush out the traitor"

"Or traitors" Kazaar interjected, waving his fork for emphasis.

"Or, trait-ORS" Russard repeated, suffering his interuption with poor grace as he tossed Mili another bottle. "A difficult situation to operate in, you would agree" she said to Mili. "So, we need someone, not involved with the Alliance Intelligence network, that we can count on. Its going to be dicey enough without being uncertain of our own team. Enter, Mili k'Vik."

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 27th, 2008, 05:26:07 PM
"Yeh." Kazaar put in, gettin' up from his seat. "Why send 'nother kath hound t'flush 'em out when ya could use a frackin' vornskr." He disappeared into th'kitchen area, then returned with 'nother six bottles o'beer. "Way I figure, probably best t'keep ya involvement to a minimum, 'least on th'reports the Kid's gotta write. That way, no one gets suspicious. I got th'feelin' our boss wants t'keep ya a secret." Estelle wanted t'remind Kazaar there were reports he had to write too but decided not to. Best t'wait.

Instead, she walked into the kitchen and returned witha bottle o'some fruity concoction she liked drinkin' instead o'beer. Dames. Kazaar continued, drainin' his bottle. "Bet we ain't just gonna be searchin' for whoever's doin' this crap. Wouldn't be surprised if Othy had other plans f'us." Kazaar popped open his third beer. "I tell ya Birdy, this stuff's frackin' good. Still can't believe th'Kid ain't a big fan o'it."

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 28th, 2008, 12:56:59 PM
k'Vik snorted.

"Tis horrible and makes my tongue curl." She said while stripping another bottle of it's cap. She tipped her head back, and drained half of it in short order.

"The beer." She added and tapped the mostly empty bottle for emphasis. "But, things blurred." Mili giggled. "It makes me cross my eyes, Kazaar!" Her head loosely swung towards Estelle and her drink. She put a finger on the "fruity concoction's" bottle and pulled away some of the condensation. She sniffed, but didn't put her head directly over the bottle.

"See, this..." she regarded the bottle with a touch of jealousy "...oh, it smells wonderful."

Estelle Russard
Sep 28th, 2008, 01:02:32 PM
"Kazaar" Estelle said, a warning and a rebuke in the one word.

Mili was going too fast, and Estelle blamed her partner for being a bad influence.

"Its ok in small amounts" Estelle said to k'Vik while sliding a glare to Aurelias.

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 28th, 2008, 01:09:16 PM
"Ain't like we're workin' right now, Kid." Kazaar's answer was muffled by him takin' a long pull from th'bottle. "'Sides, it ain't like we don't havva reason t'unwind a bit."

Estelle shook 'er head. "That's not the point, Aurelias. Not everyone can 'handle' alcohol like you can." And even then, she wasn't sure 'er partner was actually handlin' it.

A snort. "Relax, Kid. Birdy 'ere's handlin' it pretty well, ain't ya?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 28th, 2008, 05:48:52 PM
"This was entirely my idea." She said. Mili waived at Estelle dismissively, and guzzled the rest of her bottle. Mili's motions had grown sloppy and imprecise. Kazaar just happened to have something with alcohol in it. Estelle was very responsible, and saw Aurelias as a negative influence at the moment. k'Vik wanted to be drunk, because of Forrest. Killing him had been an act of mercy for whomever he normally abused with his presence.

"Hold this." She slid the nanoplast dagger across the table to Estelle, handle first. It was honed to a microscopic sharpness.

"I play with ith." Her words were starting to get sloppy. She had always been a lightweight.

"Like thith." Mili grabbed a fork, and twirled it between her fingers. She tried to flip it to her next hand, but it slid between her fingers and clattered off the table.

"Heh." Kazaar grunted.

"See?" She laughed. Estelle didn't look amused.

"Imm sorrrrrry. Tree wass gross. Like a Hutt." The room was swimming now. She hadn't been drunk since before stasis. Unlike Kazaar, she weighed a hair over 53 kilos.

"I dun not do this. Mmm dun."

Estelle Russard
Sep 28th, 2008, 06:09:19 PM
"Oh dear"

Estelle was not happy about this, though she could at least empathise with Mili and how she felt. The taking of a life should not feel good, no matter how distasteful the target. Russard took it as a good thing that their new team mate could feel the weight of it. She was not, however, convinced that getting abjectly intoxicated was the best solution. Kazaar, on the other hand, found it the answer to most occassions.

"You did the right thing in dispatching Forrest, Mili. And, you were carrying out orders. It takes time, but eventually you will disassociate your actions with your emotions. In fact, you'll have to if you wish to survive"

Or, you'll end up like her partner here..the only true comfort being the oblivion of a bourbon stupor.

"Just.." she added, removing the dagger, the fork as well as the plates and other breakables with in reach, "....try to take it easier on yourself. You'll be grateful for it in the morning"

Aurelias Kazaar
Sep 28th, 2008, 06:22:39 PM
"Heheheheheheheheh." Kazaar's laugh sounded like o'swoop bike's engine. "Been a while since ya been drunk huh?" He started on 'is fourth. "Ain't that bad. But'cha do gotta go easy. Six drink max f'now."

"I think she's had enough, Kazaar." Kid was gettin' pretty cross now. Takin' responsibility and all that stuff. Probably a good thing too. If Dark'n Spooky were t'come in, he'd probably have a fit. Black Man was like that a lot.

Kazaar's black eyes looked towards Estelle's brown ones and he nodded. "Yeh, you're right. Nice work on th'Burnin' Forrest. Guy was a bastard, deserved t'die. Don't gimme that look, Kid. Ya know I'm right."

Milivikal k'Vik
Sep 28th, 2008, 10:37:47 PM
Estelle misunderstood, but k'Vik was not about to correct her. She found Forrest disgusting from so many different aspects that it overwhelmed her. She was not coping with the taking of a life: she was washing away every moment except his throat opening. That, she could savor.

"I shalwl be fine." She stood. The back legs of the chair caught, but her hand grabbed it, and pulled it back straight. Estelle sighed. Milivikal patted her own cheek and laughed. She could hardly feel it. With a strange precision, she wandered to the couch, where Kazaar had taken refuge after the dagger had migrated away. k'Vik's body collapsed and folded next to Kazaar's. He pulled the bottle away from his face, making sure not to spill it. Mili nosed up to it, and inhaled before letting her back fall into the couch again.

"Still awful." she said, and stuck her tongue out. "Bleh." She added, for emphasis.

Estelle Russard
Sep 30th, 2008, 12:13:58 PM
Estelle's reaction was to raise an incredulous eyebrow as Mili and her partner seemed to be bonding with each passing inebriated moment.

k'Vik was a striking looking girl, even all lobbly as she was at this moment, and Russard watched the interaction with Kazaar keenly. Within the space of 30 minutes, k'Vik had cosied up closer to Aurelias than Estelle ever had in their entire partnership together, and she didn't see Kazaar pulling away.

Her brows knit in a slight furrow. Somehow, she was suddenly feeling like the rookie.

"I think I'll see if Othniel's checked in" she said, getting up and moving to the work station in the den.

The Black Man
Oct 14th, 2008, 06:19:33 PM
The den was dark as Estelle walked in. She started to curse her partner for keeping the place too dark, when something gnawed at her. The Rebel agent wasn't sure what it was, but it was almost like she...could sense...something. Her hand slipped down to her blaster as the light came on.

It was 'The Black Man'. Estelle didn't know how long he had been waiting there, but she could see a cup of caf on the chair's armrest. She'd thought she smelled something but with all the alcohol flowing she hadn't been sure. It was then something *clicked* in her mind. It was something Kazaar had once told her, about a 'sixth sense' agents developed as they got more experienced. Estelle almost smiled at the thought she was growing. But 'Othniel's' words caused her to shunt her thoughts away.

"I'm here because I don't trust communications." Estelle stared at the head of Rebel SpecOps, unsure if he meant she, Kazaar, and Mili were compromised or if his communication were. "Several days ago, one of my operatives discovered a tap in his communications console. I'm currently working to see who may have had time to do it." His eyes flashed. "Knowing how important this information is, I made sure to hand deliver it to you and your partners." He handed her a folder with several pages of flimsiplast (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Flimsiplast) within it. "General Forlon has been captured (http://75.126.43.122/forum/showthread.php?t=18199). Alliance Special Forces (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Alliance_Special_Forces) will be running their own operation to rescue him, but I want you, Kazaar, and k'Vik to shadow them.

"Without their knowledge. Understood, Agent?"

Estelle Russard
Nov 9th, 2008, 07:24:01 PM
"That wont exactly foster goodwill between our two branches" Estelle said, as she took the folder.

"You're speaking in the event that you're discovered, of course" Othniel reproved, "Not exactly the outcome I anticipate, Russard"

"Yes, of course, Sir" she agreed, cursing herself for speaking so freely.

The Alliance Special Forces and SpecOps were long at odds with one another, both branches sighting arrogance and incompetence in the other as the chief grievances. HQ did nothing to repair relations, preferring, instead, to capitalize on the rivalry to excite them both to greater achievements.

Russard leafed the flimsies, "Are we to secure the General as part of the Op, Sir, or is our focus on our counterparts alone?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Nov 13th, 2008, 06:00:35 PM
k'Vik unfolded back onto her half of the couch as Estelle had slipped into another part of the flat. All of the alcohol seemed to evaporate moments later. She sat bolt upright. Her eyes narrowed in concentration, and flicked back and forth, like she was rapidly searching for something. Her grew twitchy.

It was The Black Man. Mili bit her lip. She wanted to go back into intoxication, but if he visited her, she'd prefer to not be sloppy. Mili liked acting professional for him, because he held the key to interesting things and doings.

Special Forces. She'd never tangled with them at all. Kazaar grunted to himself. His special twinge had come when Mili's did. Instead of bolting upright, his body tried to embed itself deeper into the couch. All of Hell's fires would not move him unless he damn well felt like it. Kazaar was determined to be Kazaar.

The Black Man
Nov 18th, 2008, 01:04:24 PM
"You're to support if necessary but stay out of sight. Expect heavy security so don't do anything foolish." 'The Black Man' didn't bother to add why he was sending the three on this mission. The capture of Forlon had thrown the Rebel Navy in for a loop, damaging the relationship between the Intelligence community and the military even further. 'The Black Man' was certain the leak hadn't come from his office, but he was concerned there might be leaks in Belargic's organization and the military.

It was why he'd kept the plans so tight. If he had his choice, he would have picked 14 men (preferably commandos along with Estelle, k'Vik, and Kazaar) to do the raid themselves, with support from a squadron of X-wings or B-wings. But because leaks could be almost everywhere, 'Othniel' went with a smaller team. As he had told Estelle, the military was planning their own operation which could be successful. But something told the former Imperial that wasn't going to be the case.

He directed Estelle further back into the den. "How's the new operative?"

Estelle Russard
Nov 19th, 2008, 11:41:19 PM
"She and Kazaar are bonding"

Estelle allowed Othniel to direct her further into the room, expecting further instruction, and added, "I like her. She could be quite an asset to the Alliance. We Rebels can always use more friends."

The Black Man
Nov 20th, 2008, 02:38:27 PM
"And you're concerned about that because you think Kazaar might partner with her more than you." The Head of Rebel SpecOps stated.

Estelle's reaction was interesting. She didn't give away whether she was or not. There was no real change in body language, no grimace or nervous school girl smile. Instead, she kept herself as stoic as possible. "No sir. It's good to have agents bond."

'Othniel's' expression changed. "Estelle." His face softened a bit. "You don't need to worry about that. Twice, I've offered Kazaar higher positions within SpecOps. One was running our Balmorra operations, the other infiltrating an organization (http://75.126.43.122/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=350) I believe is tied in some way to the Empire. Both times, he turned down the assignment." A smile. "I think there are times Kazaar is more loyal to you than the Rebellion." Somehow that didn't seem like a criticism.

Aurelias Kazaar
Nov 23rd, 2008, 12:33:30 PM
"Here's what I don't get Birdy." Kazaar'd decided he was done guzzlin' beer and instead picked some kinda dark liquid inna clear unmarked bottle. He poured a pretty hefty part o'it inna glass, took a sip, and smirked. Lotta guys like drinkin' bourbon with ice but frack that. Helluva lot easier t'drink it straight. Kinda like scotch. Th'Rebel spy lit up onna dark cigar as well (his second of th'evening).

"If you're some kinda badass Jedi or Dark Jedi or whatever...where th'frack's ya lightsaber?" Kazaar was kinda curious 'bout that. "Pretty obvious ya got talent (that weird noise thing ya did at th'cafe testifies t'it). But don't every FUer carry one of 'em 'round somewhere?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Nov 23rd, 2008, 07:18:52 PM
Mili stood. "Well..." k'Vik's voice trailed off. She looked at him with a coy glance.

"I'm building another one." She said slowly. Kazaar grunted. Mili scowled.

"Esalis has it." She hissed the name more than she said it. Kazaar chuckled.

"That's gotta be a helluva story, Birdy." He said, and swirled the liquor in his glass.

"Esalis is..." she tugged down on her shirt. "...a story for another time." She sat back down again, more in control.

"Kazaar?" She asked.

"Yeh?"

"Do you think Estelle fancies me?" k'Vik played with her hair a little, and turned to look at the spot Estelle was standing, through the wall.

Aurelias Kazaar
Nov 23rd, 2008, 07:44:11 PM
"Depends on what'cha mean." Kazaar took a moment t'light up his cigar, savorin' th'flavor. Hell yeah, that's th'stuff. Never could go wrong with alcohol'n cigars. "If ya mean as a partner, hell I'm still trying t'figure ya out. Sure ya can kill pretty well but I havent' gotten t'completely see ya in action.

"If ya meant as a person, it takes a lot t'rile th'Kid up." He smirked. "She's pretty good at workin' with everyone, even me." Probably why she's got that future within th'department, Kazaar didn't bother saying. "Wouldn't worry 'bout it, Birdy. She knows 'er stuff." He winked and took 'nother gulp.

Estelle Russard
Nov 23rd, 2008, 11:56:22 PM
"I think there are times Kazaar is more loyal to you than the Rebellion." Somehow that didn't seem like a criticism.

"Im sure that's not true" Estelle asserted, "Kazaar is a loyal Rebel, Sir"

Othniel gave her an odd smile. She did not need to defend the Cowboy to him. Hell, he helped create the man - behind the scenes pulling the right strings, not to mention, the rugs out from underfoot when the need arose. No, Aurelias Kazaar's loyalties were a very well established fact and The Black Man needed no reassurances from an Alliance preppy. Estelle colored slightly, receiving the message loud and clear.

It was news to her, however, of the offers her partner had received and declined. She'd have to ask him about that one day.

Estelle attempted to explain her remark, "And I think its good that Mili and Aurelias bond, find a common ground. So they can relate." Again, the odd smile from Othniel. "To each other. So they can relate to each other. Connect, so to speak." She was not doing any better despite the amount of words she was throwing out. "It helps in the heat of battle to be connected" she ended weakly, looking about the room awkwardly.

"The mission.." Othniel began, graciously saving her from herself.

Yes, the mission. Thank god, back to business. But as the Director was speaking Estelle could not ignore the idea he had planted that perhaps this was indeed a prelude to something else. A trial run of a new partnership maybe - One that had Kazaar teamed up with their attractive new ally? She looked toward the other room, to the spot where Mili was standing just on the other side of the wall. And wondered.

The Black Man
Nov 24th, 2008, 04:02:41 AM
"Estelle." 'The Black Man's' tone remained friendly. Or as friendly as he could make it. "You should probably get to know Miss k'Vik as well. She is your responsibility and I'm counting on you to do a good job at handling both her and Kazaar." He didn't need to tell her what he thought of her future. It was whispered 'Othniel' might be slowly trying to separate her farther and farther away from Rebel Intel and more into SpecOps. Even though Belargic was the one who promoted (http://75.126.43.122/forum/showpost.php?p=275823&postcount=17) her to Senior Operative, it had been at 'The Black Man's' behest. He was, after all, one of the few who knew 'Othniel' actually existed.

"I'll leave the planning of how you'll handle insertion up to you, but the Navy is expected to move in a week." He handed her another flimplast. "The frequency of the Navy's comms. Keep tuned into it when you're onboard the ship.

"You'll be informed when the Navy is moving. Anything else?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Nov 25th, 2008, 11:15:00 PM
Mili frowned a little. It was not what she had meant at all. Men. Could they tell when a woman was thinking of another woman naked? Apparently not. They certainly thought about it themselves, and often. Mili knew. She had checked.

Kazaar, like most people involved in the spy business, was very difficult to read without being obvious. All but the thickest of sentients could feel their brain being picked through, but she could see surface thoughts inconspicuosly. Right now Kazaar was enjoying his booze and cigar. Everything else was secondary. He'd wait until the Kid got back to brief him. His tone and words were genuine, though. He wasn't being obtuse, he was playing it safe. k'Vik glanced back at him. Kazaar puffed a few times and blew a smoke ring. He stared into the middle and watched the ring expand. Mili watched, too. She snapped her fingers. The smoke rippled.

Mili decided that he liked Estelle as a person too much to attempt a relationship with her, but it was more complicated than that. The duo had a strong dynamic, and Mili would need to be careful to not upset the status quo too much.

"Thank you, Kazaar." She said after the pause, and stopped twirling her hair. She'd have to be patient. Mili was not good at patience.

Aurelias Kazaar
Nov 26th, 2008, 08:00:10 PM
"No problem." Kazaar answered, not exactly knowin' what Mili was talking 'bout. Gotta notion, but not worth asking 'bout. Not when he could ruffle some feathers. He took 'nother puff from his cigar, then winked to Mili. "'Ey Kid! If you'n Othy are done 'briefing' each other, wanna come tell us what th'frack's going on? Or do Birdy'n I need t'go get dinner and wait f'ya t'catch up."

He smirked again. It was fun frackin' with Othy, he could almost see his boss rolling his eyes and glaring. Yeah...it was a helluva lotta fun.

Estelle Russard
Nov 28th, 2008, 05:28:54 PM
Othniel let his smile fade, Kazaar probably thought he was being cute. The Black Man had never held much store for cute.

"I needn't tell you that I expect this mission to impress me, Russard" he said. It was her signal of dismissal.

"No Sir, no need at all" she replied firmly and moved through the doorway back into the living room.

Kazaar, through hooded eyes, was watching her entrance keenly. His body was slouched lengthwise on the sofa, an affected beligerence which Estelle knew was just all theater. He was probably the sharpest eye out of all four of them present in the house. Although, Mili could certainly be a possible champion to the claim. Estelle gave her a small smile, hoping to squash any insecure rivalry that may try raising its head within her own emotions towards k'Vik. It was silly to feel threatened by the gorgeous, intelligent and unusually skilled new rebel standing next to her. Estelle was lead operative, after all. Mili smiled back and Russard's self-lecturing dissolved into a flustered attempt at gaining control.

"Ok, we have our orders. We need to know our targets -the players and their purpose - inside and out. Majority of them are on our side, but keep in mind, one or more of them are not squeaky clean" she held up the flimsies. "Its study time kids, so lets order in some chow and get to know our friends shall we?"

Milivikal k'Vik
Nov 29th, 2008, 04:35:51 PM
k'Vik scowled at the reports. They contained important information like service records, family ties, and pysch evaluations. It didn't contain any voiceprints or holos. So, after an hour and a half of pouring over files, she felt frustrated and useless.

"I am not good at this." She said, after reading the last dosier.

"Are there vocal recordings?" She asked. She wasn't given to this sort of nuance in text. There were some obvious things that could be derived from these, but a voiceprint could have told her all of that in a minute. She looked over her notes again, and tossed them onto the table. Milivikal stood and stretched.

Aurelias Kazaar
Nov 29th, 2008, 07:02:53 PM
"Don't think so." Kazaar answered, takin' a moment t'rub his eyes. He wasn't tired but they felt all crusty from readin' th'notes over'n over again. Or, in his case, skimmin' 'em. He frackin' hated paperwork, part o'the job he never got. If ya really wanna get t'know someone, oughta be onna mission o'some kind, not readin' over their history. Though he knew a couple guys who'd been mentioned. "Doubt our traitor is in anyone one o'these. Sure they'll stick their necks out from time t'time, but th'chance t'be shot by a stormie during a mission...ain't that smart."

"Because it's easier to control a situation in a 'one-on-one' encounter." Th'Kid put in thoughtfully.

"Yup. When ya gotta buncha guys shootin' at ya (even if th'Empire's finest can't hit a barn worth a damn at times) pretty frackin' hard t'control a situation. Guy sees a different colored armor, pretty good chance he's gonna shoot." He tossed th'papers down. "Nah, if this mission gets leaked, gonna be from th'chain o'command.

"Anyone want anythin' t'eat? I'm frackin' starved."

The Rebel Calamari Cruiser Charming Fellow: In orbit over New Kisge (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/New_Kisge)

Lieutenant Commander Biv Pavelton sighed as he looked over another report on communications between the Naval fleet. A man in his late 20's, Pavelton had joined the Rebellion hoping to get behind an X-Wing or Y-Wing. Instead, he found himself processing reports after some test he'd taken come back 'negative' on fighter pilot training. But the commander who'd allowed him to take the test, suggested he 'help' by using his mind instead of his body. Since he'd been highly educated, Pavelton was sent to Military Communications and dataprocessing. Pavelton shook his head. All because he had his eyes on some long-legged blonde girl. Communications. Big whup.

Pavelton had accepted the job, even though he hated it, and did his best to not raise his head. I should be out there fighting. Not sitting behind a desk. What do these people know anyway. I swear their attempts at 'order' are failing miserably. It was in that line of thinking he'd become even more bitter, failing to meet with fellow workers after they were off shift and never really bothering to care.

But then he was approached by someone who offered him the chance to 'do something'.

"It's risky, you know." The man who called himself Tsy, even though Pavelton was certain that wasn't his real name. "To do what we're asking you to do. Are you willing to do it?"

Pavelton took a sip from his caf. "Of course I am. If you come through with what I want."

"The chance to fly." The Imperial answered. "Of course. All you have to do is pass along information which is important to us. Nothing major, of course, just occasional bits of information we might find interesting. Don't put yourself too much at risk."

That was almost a year ago. He'd never seen 'Tsy' again but did what he'd asked him to do: send information. And since he was considered smart when it came to computers, the opportunities to send said information became even greater. When he'd learned General Forlon would be assaulting Kashyyyk, he funneled the information to those who could use it. Now his dull, green eyes spied something else. The Navy was going to launch a rescue mission for Forlon. And they were doing it in five days. He quickly made a copy of the message traffic and plans, pocketed them inside an encrypted datafile and sent them along on the frequency a woman had given him.

It had almost been too simple to become a traitor. Oh well. That was part of life.

Estelle Russard

Unlike her two impatient counter-parts, Estelle revelled in the details found pouring over notes and data printouts. The printed word didn't lie or obfuscate meaning like people did. Every face was a mask, revealing as little as possible of the true person underneath, whereas dates, times, places - all were just as they reported to be. Estelle was not long ago a student who spent her days (and nights) in study of one subject or another. She was good at it, and enjoyed it - both aspects of which were probably a good explanation for the other. She enjoyed it, because she was good at it.

What seemed like drudgery and wasted time to her partners, could very possibly expose the person or persons their mission sent them after. Some small event not accounted for, some off the cuff remark that didn't add up to an individual profile - these were the weapons they could use. Or, at least, that she could use. Mili had a gift, an ability to read people beyond normal human sensitivity. Kazaar had his brute force and intimidating ways that could bring their own form of revelations. Estelle intended to arm herself any way she could.

And so it was long after Kazaar had dozed off on the sofa and Mili had taken advantage of the comfortable bed in the main bedroom, Russard continued to read files on people she did not know and form a basic analysis of the situation they would be stepping, eventually, into the middle of.

In four days, the trio would leave for Kashykk in order to be in place for when Special Forces initiated Operation "Man Overboard."

Their mission - Aurelias, Mili and herself - which was codenamed: "Tox Screen" had now officially begun.
