Let's see...
Fresh Water - Check
Propane - Check
Batteries - Check
Food - Check
and I think that takes care of the essential items. Been busy for the past two days getting ready for either Tropical Storm or Hurricane Fay, whichever one it will be by the time it makes landfall.
Although the storm's winds haven't increased so far this evening, the storm has been getting better organized and the pressure has been falling, so it should be near or at hurricane intensity before it makes landfall.

Yes yes, be safe :)
I look forward to weaving all of the screening that will have to replace the old which gets destroyed due to this thing. Except, not really :|

It's 75 mph winds with 90 mph gusts.
There's heavy rain up the coast.
A six foot storm surge is expected.
There's a chance of tornadoes.
It's dark.
We're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Just like old times (I dunno, does four years ago qualify as old times?)
She's going inland farther south, looks like she will skirt the coast between Naples and Ft Myers then head inland and go to the east of us, so we won't be hit as hard (hopefully) as it originally looked.

Well it came ashore, then defied forecasters and everyone else by strenghtening for a third time while over land. Winds have increased to 65 mph while the pressure has continued to drop. A eye has formed in the center, which is over Okechobee at the current time, moving to the NNE at 8 mph.
We have about 15-20 mph sustained winds here, with gusts up to 35-40 mph. A little drizzle has fallen, no major rain to report, although it is very cloudy.

Some of the models are doing interesting things with the storm, which so far has proven very unpredictable. So far it looks like Fay will exit the East Coast, become a hurricane, turn around and strike near Jacksonville, work west southwest across Florida, emerge into the Gulf of Mexico, re-strengthen once again into a hurricane, then strike Florida for a fourth time near Pensacole and work northwest into Alabama and Mississippi.

I know to be expecting rain in the next few days. Dont want tornados, tho - we have enough of those by ourselves :mneh

The storm is currently stalled just off of Cape Canaveral, and is dumping tens of inches of rain upon some locations over the past twenty four hours. The storm is today expected to turn west into the state, and head up through the panhandle into Alabama and Mississippi as a remnant low.

Ah, so your down by Fort Myers and Naples eh? I'm up in Lakeland, just east of Tampa.
Storm update: Fay is currently located 25 miles to the west-northwest of Daytona Beach, moving west at 2 mph, and is dumping lots of rain, with wide reports of flooding already reported;

We've gotten more rain today from Fay than I think we have in the entire past week due to feeder bands wrapping around the center and snaking back down into the state.
Christin and Charley should be getting acquainted with the storm pretty soon. I see where it looks like feeder bands have already been dumping rain on their neck of the woods.

Yeah, it's been raining all day today. Nothing heavy or terrible, just a constant rain.
edit - Welp, it rained all day yesterday, all night last night, and pretty much just stopped at noon today. I've decided to start calling my car Artax, since it's pretty much sunk into the Swamp of Sadness that used to be known as my driveway.

Well, Fay is pretty much gone from our lives, but Tropical Storm Gustav, which formed in the Caribbean earlier today, is now on her way in a similar looking path to Fay's early course.

Well it looks like Tropical Depression Fay is still causing problems for people in the NW part of the SE.
S'Il, don't you and Charley live near Enterprise in SE Alabama? Just curious because I had seen this report on a weather reporting station -
