I hadn't heard that they would definitely be releasing a mainstream edition, though I didn't doubt that they probably might, eventually. Looks like it will indeed be released within the year. December 4th, to be specific, in both a special as well as a regular edition, with net proceeds going to charity.

I had discovered it while browsing Amazon, where the special limited (100,000 copies) edition is an exclusive. ;)

A seventh copy, bound in brown morocco leather and mounted with silver and semiprecious stones, was auctioned at Sotheby's last December, eventually going to online bookseller Amazon for £1.95m.

The one auctioned at Sotheby's was pretty sick looking - even had Rowling's original handwriting for the text and original drawings.
