So Sony did not only just loose exclusiv rights on GTA but on Final Fantasy or am I just dreaming? This sounds pretty cool since I would love to play a Final Fantasy again since I stopped playing after FFVIII.
I am so glad now that I can play all the cool games like Gears and Halo while I do not have to envy the playstation owners for their flagship titles.
Now Hideo Kojima needs to rerelease MGS4 on the 360 and I will never have to touch a playstation again.

Exclusive? They aren't going to make a PC version?

Screw console gaming. Not all of us have that kind of money to shell out.

I don't think he said that it was going to be exclusive to the XBox.

Sony has lost exclusive rights on FFXIII this means it is going to be released on both platforms: X360 and PS3.

... but still no PC?

Nope, still no PC. Square-Enix seems to have limited interest in the PC as a gaming platform. So, FFXIII is for both consoles, while the FFXIII Versus game is still a PS3 exclusive. I'm kinda curious what will happen once Kingdom Hearts III gets rolling. I have both systems, so I don't worry too much anymore, but its still curious to see the majority of third party exclusives becoming multi-console ports.

The PC isn't seen as a "viable" platform, although Valve and Blizzard will happily tell you otherwise.

Also this makes me laugh a lot.

True, Valve and Blizzard made almost everything from PC Gaming. But the companies that were making their money on consoles just don't seemt o want to take the chance and release on PC. Though, from what I noticed while working at a game store was that the few console games that WERE ported to PC never seemed to sell at all (Halo 2, Assassin's Creed, etc.) PC seems to be the place for MMOs and RTS games, according to most developers now...

Blizzard and others have accused Microsoft of not providing enough attention to Windows game development.

Can you really blame Microsoft? They have a console to sell. Regardless, Microsoft has "responded" by publishing its plans for windows game development junk. Check gamasutra for details.

Valve has released all of their titles on console.

Honestly? It's not difficult to develop for all of them. The key is to make a console game feel as great as a PC game. As such, most studios choose to make their flagship platform a console.

Additionally, there are hardware knowledge advantages (unless we're talking about the horrors of developing for a PS3) as well as concurrency advantages (again, are issues with the PS3).

Personally? I think consoles are wonderful. Buy a 360 for $300 instead of build a new $1,000 rig? Play with all my buddies on Live or in my college dorm? Cool beans.

Not to mention indies can now develop for 360 using XNA.
