Imagine you're going to be stranded on a desert island. As a castaway, you have been given the opportunity to take a small selection of items with you:
Eight pieces of music (eight individual songs, not full albums)
One book (in addition to The Bible and Complete Works of Shakespeare, which everyone will have)
One luxury item (e.g. an instrument, some special food or drink, a journal to keep your thoughts in... etc)You're going to be on this island alone, and for an unknown amount of time, so pick carefully - because this is going to be all the intellectual sustenance and entertainment that you'll have for a while :p

Sorry, only one book for you... we bought the Bibles and Shakespeares in bulk so we have to take them with us :mneh Save it, and maybe you can use it as toilet paper! (It wouldn't be my preference to take it either, but the idea is not to force people to read it but to eliminate the possibility of people making the Bible their one book... cause that would be boring!)

A book with blueprints for generators and engines

A set of things that allows me to measure all the things that I recreate in SI units. So that I can define time inseconds, length in meter, weight in kilogramm, tempreture in Kelvin and electric current in Amper. You can keep the stuff for amount of substance and luminous intensity.

I will be building stuff while listening to my eight songs until I am ready to enjoy the luxury of a modern society while the rest on the island is reading Shakespeares. I will be the king of the island and everyone will try to trade in stuff for my electricity.

Shakesphere suck - I mena really sucks. And I have read the entire works, which lead me to ask why did I do that?. So it'll be replaced by LOTR and I dont care abut the rules :) And the Bible is ocurse a given

No music. Just a good sharp axe. Castaway on a island kinda hints of no long term power and thence no method to play music! But with an axe, I can make things to survive with. And the battle to survive, eat, gain shelter.... that'll be mental stimulus enough :)
