Species: Human (Corellian)
Homeworld: Ord Varee

History:
Born on the rather unremarkable Mid Rim world of Ord Varee, Jaden grew up living what could be described as a sheltered life. His father had served as an Officer in the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars, and had retired to the Corellian outpost after completing his term of service with the Galactic Empire. Though not a supporter of the extreme measures taken by the Empire, Carson Luka was content to keep his opinions to himself, and indulge in his hobby of restoring and replicating antique technology.

Growing up in a painfully normal environment, Jaden often found himself in trouble in some way or other as he grew a little too ambitious to add some excitement into his life. Detained at one point for speeder theft and joyriding, the teenage Jaden earned a black mark on his record that followed him for years, eventually becoming a major obstacle when he tried to join the Imperial military to "get off this useless rock". Fortunately for him, his father's prior service with the Empire was enough to pull a few strings, and secured Jaden an internship with a Scout Trooper unit from the planet's Imperial Garrison to gain leadership experience, that would set him in good stead for Pilot training at the Imperial Academy the following year.

Though short-lived, Jaden's Imperial career still managed to be eventful. His youth spent piloting speeder craft at unsafe velocities set him in good stead, and even the grizzled and disapproving commander of his unit had to admit that he posessed the makings of a reasonable officer. As part of his internship, the Empire placed him with a four-man Lancer - a standard patrol group, led by Sergeant Amos Iakona. Made up of the unit commander's least favourite Scout Troopers, Jaden's team managed to involve itself in a number of exploits in the wilderness of Ord Varee despite only ever recieving the assignments that none of the other Troopers wanted to perform.

As Jaden's internship drew to a close, his father was unfortunately taken ill. Carson later died, and Jaden's life fell apart. Not only had the last of his family gone, but the Lieutenant commanding his Scout Trooper unit who had sponsored Jaden's application to the Imperial Academy decided to withdraw his support. With his military career in taters, Jaden decided to leave Ord Varee and try his luck elsewhere in the galaxy.

Though not on amicable terms with the Empire for seven years, it wasn't until Luka had a run-in with an overzealous Imperial Officer in the Outer Rim that he became involved with the Rebel Alliance. After falling foul of an Imperial patrol, Luka was rescued as a side-effect of a Rebel strike against the ship that had captured him. It took a little convincing, but Jaden eventually joined the crew of a Mon Calamari Cruiser operating in the region, joining Valkyrie Squadron aboard the Valiant as A-Wing pilot Valkyrie Nine.

Equipment:

Scout Blaster - Jaden's weapon of choice is a Scout Blaster, as issued to Scout Troopers by the Empire.

Scout Trooper armour - The armour worn by Jaden while planetside borrows heavily from the Scout Trooper armour issued to him on Ord Varee, usually lacking some of the bulkier components such as the chest plate and helmet, and painted matte black to be less conspicuous.

Macrobinocular Headset - Picked up from a military surplus yard on his travels, the Macrobinocular visor that Jaden often wears provides for a more portable alternative to the commercially-available Electrobinoculars used elsewhere. Though the older device posesses a much shorter range than more modern field glasses, but does function rather well as a "scope" while firing blasters and other such weapons that usually do not support such accessories. It also has a limited night-vision functionality.

Astral Queen - A Corellian YT-2000 transport purchased by Jaden with his inheritance from his father. The ship is usually crewed by Jaden and his partner-in-crime Amos Iakona, but the ship has lately seen limited use while both individuals perform duties for the Rebel Alliance.

"Trip" - Build by Jaden's father, Trip or "T-Rep" is a replica of an old T3-series utility droid constructed by Carson as a retirement project. The similarities with the old droid are mostly superficial however: the internal mechanisms were salvaged from more modern astromech and utility droids, making the unit approximately equivalent to an R2 unit. Trip usually functions as the Mechanic, and sometimes Navigator aboard the Astral Queen.
