Actually the pic was of Dawn from Cry for Dawn by Joseph Micheal Linsner. I colored it differently as I used the pic for my avatar for my character on another site on her wedding day. I just really liked the dress and hadn't a lot of time to draw one myself.

I finally got fed up with not being able to access the scanner function on the 3-in-1 through the current network setup (-shakes fist at Apple Airport-) so I dragged the thing upstairs - it's really not that heavy - and connected it to my PC and scanned a stack of stuff. Pretty much all of it is six to eight years old, except for what I've posted below, which was done sometime in the past few months. I'm cleaning up the other stuff a little as we speak.

Been painting lately to stem off the insanity caused by my classes. First time I've given painting Imperial Guard a shot, definitely a different style that I'm used to, but I like how this is turning out.
Mostly done here, just need a lot of touch-ups and, then all the shading on the scenery/add-on bits, and finally base and seal the sucker.
Kinda looks like what I imagine Imperial Army soldiers here would look like.

Well, I'm still working on Zoofights, and since this evening's fight is over, I figured I'd put up some of the stuff I did for it. Now, I only did three pictures start to finish, and two that I colored that someone else had drawn. I'm only posted the three that I did entirely however. I'm considering getting into 40k, but not really to play. After looking through the 40k threads on SA I just want to paint the little guys. Maybe when you come out Karl, we can go to a games shop and look around :)
Karl Valten
Jun 22nd, 2009, 11:29:17 PM
Dudette, I'll bring you a model or two when I come down for Dragon*con. Gameswork shop stores are notoriously high priced. You can find GW items at lower prices at some smaller gaming retail stores, they're a bit harder to find, though. For instance one of the game stores in Madison, WI sell GW stuff for 20% off retail.
Painting is a blast with these things. If your in for the hobby and not the gaming then mebe the boxed set aren't for you. The single/double model blisters might be better. Of course with the boxed sets you get a ton of extra bits of convert and make cool modifications.
Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jun 22nd, 2009, 11:40:45 PM
That would be awesome :)
I may get a few boxed sets, since I think it'd be fun to make slick-looking mods and stuff, then paint them up all awesome-like. The more I think about it, the more jazzed I'm getting too.

Leman Russ Battle Tank. Very basic so far, none of the details have really been painted. I would very much like to put a camo pattern on this, but I'd really want an airbrush to make it look smooth. Don't have one at all yet.

I was intending to do this only for a size comparison, but it got a lot more detailed. I do plan to finish coloring it up:

Some of my better painting work, at least I think so. These were all done like 2 years ago, though.
I need a better camera and macro lens methinks.

Work in progress on turning a Grey Knight Terminator from a bunch of pewter bits into a (hopefully) decent painted mini.
I'm experimenting with painting styles on this one to see if I can pull off something semi-realistic.
First two set of shots are of different models, the first is just coated with black spray primer. The second has a base coat of dark grey on all the primary armor plates.

Some work on an Imperial Guard Infantry Squad. Pretty much have the armor and fatigues done, from here on its the skin, details, and touching up where I screwed up.
15 down, 29 to go.

And the Heavy Weapons Team, as you can see there is no gun yet because its easier to paint the duders this way. That and there are three different heavy weapon to pick from so I won't glue anything in. Makes it simple to swap army builds.

Though I did decide to suck it up and finish the sergeant. I think this is by far the best model I've painted so far.

Makes me want to grab a scanner and a Wacom and work on some ideas that I've allowed to fester in my creative slump. :/
There are simply not enough crazed anthropomorphic otters carrying acetylene cutters / torches. :)
One aspect of Cyperpunk Panther Modern culture as portrayed in William Gibson's Neuromancer that hasn't been delved into too much is the body-modding culture. That whiskered fella reminds me of some gruesome evil scientist/surgeon from that sci-fi sub genre.

Three of my most recent blackboard paints (already posted them on facebook, but figured I'd put them up here too). It's chalk on black board (bear in mind there's no black chalk and we're not allowed to use coal cos it leaves stains, so I always have to figure out new means of creating dark bits. Leaving the board as it is never seems to work).
First one was for the second grade, of St Francis and the wolf of Gubbio, the second of St Martin and the beggar, for my first graders. And the third is sort of leading up to a nativity scene, for the first grade again.
The last two ones are merely copied from card motives. St Francis and the Wolf were a bit more original as they were two separate pieces that I joined and added a bit of background to.

I've just looked through this thread properly from start to finish for the first time, and I have to say the talent we have here at 'Fans is just awesome.
S'Il, I love your Zoofights stuff, and those WH40K-inspired pieces are awesome.
And I have to commend Mitch - as usual your artwork is just bustling with detail and you really know how to pose your characters in such dynamic ways.
I actually started my own artistic endeavor today - landscape painting. This is my very, very first attempt so it's pretty poor considering what I'm trying to do, but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway since you're all awesome, and I hope I'm able to attend the next meet-up to say that in person.
I know the mountain is crap, and my clouds need work. I thought the pond turned out okay. Next time I'll make sure I cover the canvas in a greater amount of liquid white, and use less blue on the brush for the sky so that the clouds have more definition when I paint them on top. Overall I quite enjoyed it.

I use a drill with a diamond-studded drill head. First I used a manual engraving-tool that looks like a pen with a diamond-studded tip. That was really hard work. I then bought this drill and it is much easier now.
