Sign it! Sign it as though your life depended on it!!! :eek

The 'director' himself has said it would take one million signatures to convince him to stop directing, so I added mine to the bucket and you should too. :)

Anyone that goes to one of his movies is an idiot and thence as idiots, they get no sympathy from me. No way in hell am I touching this.

No, it has to be signed. Regardless of the idiocy of the cinema-going public at large, if you sign this petition and God-willing he will stick to his word, then that will be one less contributer to the cesspit of vile cinema. Seriously, nothing good can come of not signing it, people will always be stupid and provide people like Uwe Boll with money to make more films so the sooner we take a stand against rubbish films the better. It's a shame the global masses don't muster up some common sense and simply say, "This has gone too far and has to stop. Culture has suffered enough and we're not buying it anymore." If that happened, and people stopped going to see terrible films, studios would lose out on so much money they'd be forced to rethink their strategies and make only good films as opposed to CGI-soaked borathons. Ironically, to quote Postal 2:

"Hey Mister, sign my petition!"

I watch a lot of movies, but I don't think I ever watched any of his.

They always look like they're going to be exceptionally poor - and not in a "so bad its good" kind of way. Wikipedia tells me:

And the reason I am able to do these kind of movies is I have a tax shelter fund in Germany, and if you invest in a movie in Germany you get basically fifty percent back from the Government.

I think a lot of you people will hate me for what I am about to say right now and I do not say this because I am from Germany: First of all I know that most of his movies are bad but in my case I can at least judge this since I have unlike many Boll bashers seen some of his movies.
But signing a petition against him making movies is ridiculous. This guy has got talent but it is not found behind the camera.
In contrast to all those wannabes on the web that say that if I had the money and opportunity I would be making a much better movie Boll is doing it: He gets actors with real names on board for his projects and if you consider that he is not making big budget films his visual effects are good not outstanding but good.
My point is that this guy has proven that anyone can make a big movie if he stays ambitious and gets the money together.
How many of you have really seen one of his movies?
I have seen Alone in the Dark, Dungeon Siege and Postal (that I found hilarious).

There are a lot more big budget flicks one should protest against! The whole Date Movie, Epic Movie and how they are all called are all combined less funny and visualy intresting than Postal. Those movies have big openings and bigger budgets than Boll films.

Oh and the whole Boll is raping my favorite franchise whiners are morons as well in my eyes. It is not Boll's fault that companies sell their rights to the next best idiot. If you sell your rights to someone without talent you won't see something that makes you proud. When I was watching the transformers movie last year I was not expecting to watch a 90 minutes US army commercial with robots as cameos.

In the end there are not many people on this planet that could make good movies with Boll's budget: There is Kevin Smith, Sam Raimi and Robert Rodriguez but those guys are prodigies and not everything they do is a masterpiece.

So people before you join the mob with the torches: Rent a Boll movie first and then think about the fact that this guy is nobody's bitch in Hollywood or Germany and all he wants to do is shoot some films and make money. I can't blame anyone for this wish because in my books this is the coolest thing one can do...especially when it works!

This is a false accusation...he is using Nazi Gold. You obviously have not watched Postal.

BTW this hole in the German tax system was fixed a few years ago. He only shot a few films using this trick. This is a shame by the way because this makes German movies less attractive for investors now and so I do not get why this is considered a bad thing.

Fine, ignore me. Get punched in the face then. That's all this petition is, is a big honeypot scheme so that Uwe Boll can find you and punch you in the face, because unlike making movies, he actually does that rather well.

I know about the whole "If you don't like my films, fight me" thing he had with some critics - further proof the guy is a degenerate, in my opinion. And as for the big rant about him "Being a man... with a dream... to make movies... because... it's beautiful! *sniff*". No. Wrong. To hell with him. I've seen some of his films and they're just not worth the time to talk about. Yes, it's not just him, there's an endless chain of stupid which spans all the way up to the studio executives who sign contracts but that doesn't change the fact that Uwe Boll shouldn't make films. I don't care how magical a dream it might be to make them, if you're rubbish at it, don't do it and stop seeding the film industry with further excuses to spawn absolute rubbish. All films don't have to be Lawrence of Arabia, but their makers should at least strive to make the best film they can and if Uwe Boll isn't a lazy man, then his best is just not good enough. Spin on.

I have to admit that the only thing this thread has made me want to do is rent some movies to see what all the fuss is about.

Well, ultimately, I wanted to contribute towards something that will make a smug talentless cretin eat his words. He's just comes off as not only a bad film-maker but an incredibly obnoxious man, too.

I have two of his movies.

Charley made me buy Alone in the Dark, and I bought Bloodrayne on a whim.

NOT WORTH IT.

WARNING: There be colorful metaphors running about, especially in the clip about the petition.

I am highly amused now by this unfolding drama over crap flicks.

Yeah he is a genius and I think he has a point. I think many people seem to overlook that you can't get so many big names for his movies without being a funny and decent guy.
He is something like the Ed Wood of our modern pop culture...

I can't sign a petition without having even seen any of his movies. They are probably awful, but I'd like to form my own opinion. :)

Besides, even if he makes bad movies, does not necessarily mean he should stop directing. A prime example of this is Michael Bay, who made a lot of bad movies, but The Island and Transformers were very good. Of course, Uwe Boll is more of a low budget director, but those are usually the ones who can turn around and make some truly great movies.

Edit: I find it hard to believe he can be compared to the likes of Ed Wood, who was just spectacularly inept at what he was doing, to the point of being hilarious.

Yes, he's loathed because he makes movies outside of Hollywood. Of course, that's it. He's such a little child: "If you don't like my films, fight me, if you don't like my films, make your own. MY MUM COULD HAVE YOUR MUM!"

If a newspaper printed a slanderous, offensive, or incorrect article filled with typos and layout issues, would a film director not be annoyed by it? If it were about them or at their expense would they be incensed enough to become a news reporter and start working for The Times? Of course not. What a load of waffle.

I'm fairly certain that Boll WANTS people to sign this petition. The more people sign it, the more free press he gets. He's a shameless self promoter. He loves challenging critics and fans to fights, it draws attention to himself. I'd like to point out it's not just critics who trash this guy. You look up his films on RT and they consistently pull in single digits from critics and fans alike. I think he really can give Ed Wood a run for his money.

Apparently, Boll approached Blizzard about making a World of Warcraft movie, which Blizzard has, in the past, indicated is something that is on the table.

Their response to Boll?

"We will not sell the movie rights, not to you.... especially not to you."
