I saw this coming a month ago

I guess WB will make The Hobbit. Man they will have a big year in 2010 then if they have Deathly Hallows and The Hobbit coming out in the same year.

It's kind of funny when you consider the whole 'Harry Potter vs. LOTR' online debating that was going on in the early 00's - now they're under the one umbrella anyway.

I daresay 'The Golden Compass' sealed this one - as they pointed out in the article the film made money overseas but New Line lost out on most of it to other distribution companies.

Well they did the same thing with the LOTR movies (makes you wonder how much the studio would have made out of it). I think Time Warner was tired of that and they knew the overseas numbers were just getting bigger every year.
