She better be able to do the accent. The Baroness was hot, but, the accent was haaaaaaawt.

It could be some sort of flashback theme...before she goes 'black'.

No no no, she's a natural raven-haired beauty. But where are the green glasses? Where's the leather bodysuit?

The Baroness has always been a fox...

You would have been very little when it was around. The cartoon was in the 80's, and very early 90's.

G.I.Joe is an "all American hero/soldier" sort of show as well. Not sure how well it did/would have done in England?

This movie has failure written all over it.

Transformers turned out reasonably well. I'm not sure about this one.

I have heard of it before, I just don't remember ever seeing it when I was younger. I mean, I think the Turtles and Ghostbusters came out before I was born, but I still had action figures etc of them.

I just checked on wikipedia, actually, and we have a British counterpart: Action Man.

I've seen G.I. Joe in Family Guy and Simpson episodes, and maybe some other shows as well. Robot Chicken too.

I guess I'll be looking forward to this movie, maybe.

It's another one of these bloody awful saturday morning cartoons that is a damn sight worse without the blur of nostalga around it. Transformers is a totally rotten cartoon, GI Joe was soemhow a hell of a lot worse.

However Transformers the moive was a pretty good explosionfest. There's hope yet that this could be the same.

Turbogeek has no heart.

In more related to the movie news:

...there was some concern (http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2008/02/gi_joe_set_shots_baroness_is_b.php) that the traditionally raven-haired Baroness may have been made blonde. Naturally, there was outrage: how dare they deviate from the original, slightly altering a fading memory of our childhood. Baroness was only a believable high-ranking member of a snake-themed international terrorist organization because of her familiar dark hair. A blonde female baron? Please.
But it turns out our concerns may have been unfounded, as Sienna Miller has now confirmed to Acess Hollywood that she wears a black wig in the film:
I play this character called The Baroness. I have a black wig, and guns, and leather, and it's all fantastic.

It'll be ridiculous but that is about the same as the show. Seriously people, have any of you tried watching it now that you're adults? It's hilariously bad. It's 30 minute doses of anti-commie indoctrination and Reaganomics.

I still love it like Christin likes bad movies though :)

Oh look, it's a transvestite in a BDSM suit.

Heeeey, now I kinda like where this could be going. A deep and undercover look at fetishism in the Superhero community and where Superman comes out as the gay lover of Batman.

Wait, I saw slash ficton about that once. My brain never recovered from the sheer horror

Miranda Tarkin

He doesn't look like a transvestite at all :rolleyes. In fact he looks exactly like the cover of a GI Joe comic book.

I personally am not liking the face plate. Accurate as it is, looks off realistically. Otherwise it looks great. I am glad they are focusing on the ninjas, which isn't surprising since Hama is consulting.

I don't know the source material, as I've previously sad, but the costume doesn't look too bad. Sounds like the movie will be popcorny fun.

The costume is dead on. Believe me I know the source material and if they do this right it could be a lot of fun. I'm guessing it will focus on Duke as the "leader" of the team with the rest meshing in. Snake Eyes is the signature character but its hard to have a guy who is mute be the star of a movie like this.

Either that, or I'm a gay ninja.

Killing enemies while looking utterly faaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous! But damn it daaaarling, you know how hard it is to sneak up and garrote someone in these heels? And the way my naaaaaaails get blood on them, it's tragic. I had to have a alchopop to recover.

Not suer what you guys are seeing but those costumes look great. Quaid looks a little iffy but thats because fo the look on his face and not the outfit.

Scarlett is great and Storm Shadow looks perfect.

I'll tell you exactly what I think the major issue is with those pictures. It's not so much the costumes, which I find uninspired anyway, but it's the fact that these modelling shots are not taken in ways which represent any sense of character. Just take a look at that first image of Snake Eyes, the lighting and pose were appropriate. Sure, you can't see every bit of clothing and accessories he's wearing but there's that old phrase from the fashion industry: "Less is more." Say what you want about them not being studio stills from the film itself, but if the production was worth a carrot, they would have the characters in non-catwalk poses with their clothing blood-stained, torn, singed and looking at least remotely dishevelled. Come on, this is some elite military cell not the wannabes for Armani's summer collection.

Other than that, I find some of the pictures unconvincing and laughable, Dennis Quaid for a start but then there's Sienna Miller in her limited edition Baronness Disco Diva shades. And if anyone even dares decry these grievances with "BUT IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CITIZEN KAAAAAANNNEEEEE!!!" I will find you and kill you, wearing lycra and shades from the 70's no less.

Hell, these are probably early shots to gauge reaction. I would not be surprised to see much of this changed if they find that fan reaction is mostly negative. For the most part, I think they look ok, but I'd like to see the costumes revert to the more traditional look, especially for Duke and Scarlett.

Fatigues are sooo Big Army. If anything, GI Joe were the first private military contractors, so it fits that they'd wear the stuff that operators wear.

At least in my warped little brain it makes sense.

Don't forget most people now-adays don't know G.I.Joe from the 80's cartoon and toy lines. They have been very successfully re-launched a few times and the costumes being shown are very inline with the most recent successfull re-launch. Just like the Transformers movies, this is not an adaption of the 80's cartoon but a Movie rendition of the Joe theme in general.

Right, that's what I mean.

If you look at GI Joe, none of them were really in regulation gear. It wouldn't make sense to put them in matching digicam and k-pots like they were US military, since they were something else entirely. The closest I can think of is a group like Blackwater, only much more variance at work.

Man that is kind of creepy, drawing parallels between the ever-present good guys of my childhood and the praetorian guardsmen of the Iraq war :\
