Tonight - or this afternoon, evening, perhaps even tomorrow morning depending where you are - there is a lunar eclipse! You can find out when it will be visible in your time-zone, as well as how clearly you'll be able to see it, by checking out: http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2008Feb21/TLE2008Feb21.html

I'll probably get giggly, then go outside and frolic, if it isn't too cold. It's also coinciding with the Ice Moon, Wild Moon, Quickening Moon.. whichever suits. :p
OMG the howling will keep my kids up..

(No, not me howling, the wildilfe.. :twak )

>.< If it weren't so dang cold out I'd go watch. But its frigid! And my hands are already cracking from being dried out by the blustering winds.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but why are you doing this?
Also, you know you howl Raz. Don't even try denying it. ;)

One of the classes I'm taking this term is called 'Violent Femmes', in which we study representations of active women in popular culture. We looked at 'The Avengers' a couple of weeks back, and 'The Bionic Woman' is our focus this week :)

Oh yeah so apparently my daughter seems to think that the lunar eclipse is going to turn all the power out all over the world, and little Eddie from the Munsters is going to come to her in her dream and keep howling.....
:D gotta love a child's imagination...

The cloud cover is so thick tonight that I can only tell where the moon is judging by the pale shade of a cloud section. :\
I can't complain though, last year I was privy to one of the most remarkable lunar eclipses we've had in a long time and there wasn't a cloud in sight.

I just went outside to look before posting. Right now 10pm EST, where the moon should be a silver-white, it's more cream colored with clay red creeping over it, in sort of a flame shape. It's amazing and I wish I had a camera to do it justice.
I'll go look again in a bit. :D

It's starting to darken further where I am. All of it's brownish red, and the left side is growing darker, with the furthest left gone from my view.

It was cloudy here, but not solid clouds. So I was able to see some of the moon as it rose while it was maybe 1/3 eclipsed, then I was able to see some of the total eclispe...it looked kind of like a pale smudge that you had to look hard to find. But it was there!

Great video, Yog :)

That's right. We are working our way forward from The Avengers, Charlies Angels and The Bionic Woman to Terminator 2 and Alias.
