CORUSCANT
THE MANARAI

:: Sorsha waited patiently at her favorite table for Sanis Prent to arrive. The invitation to come dine had been sent, and instructions to her employees had been made explicit that he was to be shown to her table without hindrance. He was a very special guest tonight, and so was his partner ::

It was a bit surreal to find work again. My last big job hadn't exactly fallen out the way I had planned. I didn't make a whole lot of money, but at least my name had gotten out. Which was either a really good or really bad thing, since I wasn't exactly a model Imperial citizen. So when the invite came to Coruscant, I had to step lightly.

I took the cab to the Savo district after telling Cirr to keep the others in Coco. He was going to be busy with a laundry list of repairs anyway, and I didn't need to think about budgeting and repair priorities for once. s'Il was busy with an errand of her own and said she'd meet me, but I hadn't seen her cab arrive yet.

The Manarai was posh like Zeltron velvet. I had an eye for nice things, but it had been a long time since I'd been able to show my face in an establishment like this. Fortunately I still knew how to dress myself like I was almost respectable, and the clean black jacket went well with the matching slacks and gunmetal shirt. The cab stopped and I tipped the navidroid, and was immediately escorted inside.

:: Sorsha smiled as Sanis arrived, but looked over his shoulder expectantly as she rose to greet him ::

"Good evening, Mister Prent. Is your companion going to join us tonight?"

"She's just wrapping up an errand. She should be here any minute."

One of the myriad of minders and attendees came up and eased my jacket off my shoulders, as I took my seat.

Maddox stood against the wall behind Sorsha - far enough away as to be discreet and close enough to be obvious.

Prent was a tasty-looking morsel, Bambi mused appreciatively, and allowed her mind a small indulgent wander. She hoped he behaved himself, it'd be a pity to have to mess up his very-put-together style.

Traveling to Coruscant, the belly of the Imperial beast, was a rather careful affair; for her at least. Teagan had been left once more with Dan, and now as she stepped through the doors of the Manarai, the Lupine unconsciously ticked her ears back at the blanket of low conversation surrounding her.

Her stride slowed, and s'Il allowed her eye to travel over those seated in the dining hall. Settling on Sanis, she once more started forward.

Coming up behind him, she stopped to look down at the woman sitting opposite of him, a neutral expression painted over her features. Slowly she lowered herself into the chair beside Prent, opting to say nothing.

:: Sorsha raised a curious brow. She was told Sanis traveled with a Cizerack, but was gracious nonetheless as she greeted the woman. Food and drink of various types were brought to the table for sampling. Whatever Sorsha's guests fancied most, more would be brought forth. It was the kind of hospitality reserved for nobility, but Sorsha's generosity to potential associates knew no bounds ::

"Thank you for coming, both of you."

The food looked lavish enough to impress a Moff, and the spread was richer than any honest shindig I'd ever gotten myself into. I had to wonder exactly what lottery I had won, or what pile I was about to step into if I wasn't careful. I let my eyes wander a little too long to realize that Sorsha had been surprised by my choice of 'assistant'.

"Thanks for the invitation. You've got me at a bit of a loss for words."

I didn't know Sorsha, or her business. She flaunted money well enough to intrigue me. It made it incredibly appetizing to find clientele like this instead of the kind who pay you in sheep. I had to wonder exactly where she'd gotten my name, and what she had in mind. Aside from some small freelance jobs and a bloody nose heist I pulled on the Urns of Korriban, I really didn't feel far removed from Nar Shadaa. I had to bathe twice to knock the smell of repulsor lube off the back of my neck. And now I was being wined and dined by a real mover.

What gives?

"This is my associate, Dana."

I gestured to s'Il, mindful to keep her sensitive name out of the air.

"Good luck charm, public relations, that sort of thing."

I didn't turn my attention to One-Eye. I'd seen her the moment I entered. You tend to notice things like eyepatches, and the girl behind it left little to the imagination. Hired muscle? Pretty likely.
