I am now the proud owner of a 26 in LCD widescreen monitor/TV. I just have one question - how do I set it up properly? Everything seems gigantic on it right now when I'm using it with my computer, and although I downloaded the correct drivers for it, etc. the support website isn't very helpful.

Any suggestions? I set the resolution to 1280x768. The next one up from that seemed to make things bleed off the edges.

I would not recommend using a display of such low resolution as a monitor. It's really meant for a TV and will serve those duties fine.

For comparison, I have a 24" monitor and the resolution is 1920x1200.

I suggest returning it and getting something different if you primary use is a monitor.

We got it for free and it is being used as our TV in our bedroom as well.

So, there. :mneh

What brand is it?

Viewsonic.

Looking over the support page again it looks like this is already set at the maximum resolution, which is slightly disappointing. However, it is still a hundred times better than my old monitor. I guess I could get a wireless keyboard and mouse and sit on my bed while I use it. :mneh

Hard to beat it for free.

Do the wireless keyboard thing, that's how I operate the media center PC :)

I guarenttee the monitor I am using right now is bigger than anything anyone has ever used.

But that's what happens with your in the audio visual server room of a museum. You get to play with some serious AV gear and write rude messages 4 meters high and use servers + racks with equipment worth several million.....

In fact I just got 500 people to wave to you all! I doubt they understood a word of what I wrote (apart from WAVE!!!) but you get that if your a Japanese tourist group.

^^^ this was extremely helpful and on topic.

Not.

I think the biggest problem I'm having right now is I can't seem to get the brightness/contrast adjusted to a point where it doesn't hurt my eyes after a while, and yet I can still see what I'm doing. :p I've sacrificed graphic clarity (grey is now the new black!) for my eyes for the time being. ^_^;
