So, since I got a good response in the other thread, I'm gonna start my own megathread. Why is it mega? Well everyday I shall upload a new piece of art. I cleaned out my desktop and I had about 140 finished pictures in total. I figure thats ample fuel for a megathread.:D

So I'm gonna post a pic, you tell me what you all think.:angel

NOTE: All 3D models rendered in Poser3D 5.0, then textured in Photoshop. Skins and textures taken from photos taken with a Nikon S2 camera, or my cheap Olympus digital camera, then tweaked in Photoshop filters. Some other stuff is drawn in Adobe Illustrator or by hand and then scanned. All my art is like this unless noted.

My influcences are Giger as well as Dali.
Graphic pictures will have a link, instead of a picture, as well as a warning.

First pic:

The idea from this came after seeing Enemy at the Gates and seeing the wartorn Stalingrad. The theme of the wheels came up when me and some friends decided to go swimming and we found a whole load of rusty bicycles in the lake. We hailed them up, and I took pictures the next day. For some reason, several of the bikes had things attached to them, and I joked that someone tried to crucify them. So this is a cart, in a more apocalyptic version of a future Stalingrad. The future, beware, is sepia toned.

This is great. I think it'd be cool if you gave us some insight into the pictures as you posted them though... what inspired them, maybe a little info on how you made them. :)

Those are my two favorite artists:)

To be honest, I was on a lot of drugs during when I made most of these pictures. But another big artistic influence for me was Dave McKean, who did art for some of Steven King's books. If you can, flip through a version of Wizard and Glass and look at the pictures.

You should get on well with me and my mate, Peter, then. I was introduced to Dalí by my auntie, she's Spanish and not only did she take me to an exhibition in England but also had her family take me to one while I was on holiday in Spain. Ever since that first exhibition, I've been hooked, Dalí is my favourite artist and if I had to choose a favourite it would probably be the Metamorphosis of Narcissus, which I have framed.

Peter on the other hand, is the Giger nut, he has all kinds of enormous hardback books of his, including at least one volume of the Necronomicon. I have to admit, I'm quite taken with Giger's work, too, and was introduced to him via Alien. One day, I think it would be nice to sit and have a cold one in the Giger Bar.

Peter has the Dark Tower novels, so I'll check out the illustrations in the Wizard and Glass sometime. And as for the drugs, I think that goes without saying when dabbling in surrealism, and I have to confess I think yours is the most interesting artwork I've come across in a long time. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff in the future.

Edit: Just read your first post in which you stated your influences. Shows how much attention I pay, eh?

Now who's on drugs:lol

You should seriously read the Dark Tower novels. I'm not a big Steven King fan but they're all pretty damn good.

I must admit though, as an artist, I don't look at a lot of art. I've never been to an art museum, and I've never taken an art class, and the only artistic things I own are Dali and Giger calenders that people buy me, as well as a few posters of random things. The aim of most of my art isn't to make pretty things, but to make things ugly. Its why a lot of people I draw are naked and deformed.

I've also always liked the cover art in 50's, 60's and 80s sci fi pulps, and you'll see that every now and then.

I would strongly suggest going to an exhibition if you get the chance to, particularly if it's an artist who interests you. I say this because you may find, as I did, that you will draw the most inspiration and pleasure from the artist's lesser known work. When I went to the Dalí exhibitions, I stood in awe of his paintings but then spent ages staring at these small sketches he did, full of wonderful imagery and abstract ideas. Some of those sketches have really stuck with me more so than things like Swans Reflecting Elephants and the like.

I have to admit, I know nothing about the Dark Tower series. Personally, I love Steven King's short stories. I think that's some of his best writing over his well known horror work. But I will check it out because this isn't the first time I've heard high praise for series. Have you ever read Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy? If not, and you like fantasy, I can't recommend it enough.

I don't follow artistic culture very much, but I do know Dali and Giger. Surrealism is usually a bit difficult for me to chew, but holy crap are you images impressive. You paint everything up from scratch, no? Or do you construct each part (the figures, textures, backgrounds, etc) in seperate programs/canvases and combine them in the end?

I honestly have never read a Steven King book in my life, just never had the apeal for some reason. For the horror genre I usually stick to Howard Philips Lovercraft and August Derleth.

I highly suggest reading At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft. I would love to see your interpretation in painting of the particular work

I do read Lovecraft, not as much as I used to, but I still do. My favorite book by him is long out of print. Fungi of Yugoth and Other Poems. Admittedly, it sold terribly, and wasn't popular enough to warrant a reprint. Its good stuff.

Oh and to answer your question, I use a variety of programs and combine everything in the end, though some stuff is hand drawn and inked, and then scanned.
