Most people these days play an instrument of some kind or another, be it something common such as guitar, piano, voice or something a bit weird such as the basson, hurdy gurdy, or the drumitar.

So, who plays what? Include the name of your main instrument, any other instruments, how long you've been playing, experiance, why you started playing, and any music you might have of yourself, etc. Pics are always welcome.:)

--------------
I guess I'll start as I started this thing off.

My main instrument is bass. I play upright bass and the bass guitar and I've been playing since I was 8 years old. I've been playing professionally for the past 5 years, currently going for a doctorate in music theory. I've also taught electric bass for the past 6 years.
I started playing because a friend of mine was putting together a band, and needed a bass player or a drummer. Using foresight, I decided I'm too lazy a person to haul around a drum kit, so I chose bass.

Here's some pics

Play till your fingers bleed!

Smoking is hazardous to your health.

I also play a ton of instruments besides bass: harmonica, banjo, guitar, piano, drums, classical harp, sitar, violin, viola, cello, and the ocarina. That seems like all of them.

I basically play whatever pays the bills. but my own band is jazz, blues, folk and rock.

You can hear some of my stuff at: www.purevolume.com/itsrice

Fair warning, some of it isn't too good, as almost all of that was irecorded improv while I played with toys.:p

Used to play the piano but haven't touched one in over 10 years. Nowadays I sing.

I'm a piano girl as well. I played for nine years before going off to college. Now I can only play when I visit friends who've got pianos, but I plan to start saving up for a baby grand soon, so hopefully at some point I'll have my own and I can start really playing again :)

Hoorah, I play the Trombone primarily and can stumble my way through tuba/sousaphone and the baritone/euphonium.

I prefer concerto music (marches primarily), but I've been in marching band for four years, pep band is a hell of a lot of fun (mostly because I just get to be annoyingly loud), and I have also played in a few jazz bands (improv is my weakpoint, however).

I think I've been playing the Trombone for about 7 years or something.

I do have a couple of videos I can put up of the spring concert in my senior year. One of 'em is already up on youtube.

I've played snare drum in about three marching bands, and I played violin for about ten years, but I haven't touched it in... long enough. :) It's probably in horrid need of tuning by now.

Everyone in my family plays the guitar and sings. Mostly because we didn't have televisions or computers growing up, and so we used to all jam together Von Trapp style. :D

Piano, for like, ever. I was a piano major in college for two years. Awfully rusty now, and Christin will slap me when she hears I hardly play at all even though there is a piano sitting right at my back. :p

I can play drums and the harmonica. I forced to practice the violin when I was younger for about two years, but I was never any good at it and quit. That's about it. :)

Yes, I went to band camp.

I've played guitar leisurely for the past 5 years or so now. I'm self-taught and haven't really improved at all for the past few years. I need to practice more. I've got an acoustic, an electroacoustic with a dead battery, and a electric.

I've played the violin for ten years, the viola for three [which is my favorite], the cello for one, and I sing very often. I've been in a few competitions, plays, and so many concerts.

Hoping to get started with the Erhu (http://www.jumpingbuddha.com/Inimages/erhu2.jpg) and the Shamisen (http://www.kotosandmore.com/images/Shamisen/Tsugaru/Tsu_kouki_sm.jpg) at some point this year.

I started playing the flute when I was nine. I've gone through grade after grade, and lessons in and out of school. Was part of a music school for three years which perforned concerts a few times a year. In secondary school, I was part of the orchestra, concert band and choir, and thanks to this I had the opportunity to tour the east coast of Australia for three weeks, performing everywhere from beachfront bandstands to concert halls to churches and ancient caves. Some of my happiest memories in school are those of me performing in one capacity or another - even then I knew I was part of something very special and it gave me such a thrill. My only regret is that I haven't played in years because on my last day in school some [insert appropriate word(s) here] swapped my gorgeous instrument for some awful rusted thing that could barely squeeze out a note. I've promised myself to buy a new one sometime and play again.

I played drums for 11 years before retiring in 2002. I can still play pretty well but I don't that often.

That would be sweet.

I took music all through HS (woo, triple threat - art, drama, music major! XD), and I took classical guitar. My fingers are WAY too stubby though. I want to learn to play the drums sometime in the near future.

And S'il can play the crap out of the piano. She = awesome. :D

I play acoustic guitar leisurely, for several years now, although these days I don't play all that often.

I played violin and piano at school. I kicked myself all the time over the fact that we had a piano at home for years - bought with the sole intention and hope that I'd feel inspired to play - and I rarely ever touched it. Since then, the only thing I've touched is guitar. I've got two acoustics and an electric, though I don't really play anything other than my Tanglewood acoustic. When I was still at school, we had lessons in how to play the guitar but all we really studied was basic chord shapes. Since then, I've just tried to teach myself everything - though I still haven't been able to master reading notation, sadly.

About the only 'instrument' I play with any real regularity is this...

I played Trombone for seven years, myself. I also got a chance to play in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2000, when I was a sophmore in high school. That was a fun, albeit cold event. Almost a week off of school for the trip to New York. Very nice.

I played the flute in jr. high & high school, started learning piano a few years ago and have a nice washburn acoustic I can't find the time for that is begging me to play with it. Also have inherited a violin that I want to learn as well, but that will be after I conquer the French language.

I dabbled in some guitar and piano when I was younger.

But anymore, the only instrument I play is my vocal chords.

I sing, far too often.

I play guitar, though the days of it being my creative outlet are over.

I'd much rather sing a melody than play one on any of my overly expensive guitars. I would sell them... but, they have sentimental value.
