This is bigger news than A-Rod I think.

This is big and I hope it means they have a stronger case. I think this ends his career right now. I don't see any team wanting to sign someone who will be going on trial during the season (I mean I doubt the trial happens until the middle of next year). If he gets convicted of this chargers he can count his HOF good buy as well. And I hope the Commisoner would consider striking his numbers from the history books. The Olympic committee took away Marion Jones's medals so it would be only fair to take away Bonds's records.

Not exactly the same. Drugs weren't forbidden in baseball at the time.

Well I was thinking if he was convicted of a crime that it should negate his baseball playing career, especially one as serious as this. Also Buster Olney of ESPN agrees with me. He actually compares Bonds to the 1919 Black Sox scandal. He said Selig could kick him out for the good of the game.

As much as I would love to see Bonds records wiped from the books, it just ain't gonna happen. There's too many other guys from this era that cheated, and if you start with Bonds, you HAVE to get rid of the rest of the cheaters, and who knows how far that will go. But I believe his career is done because of this. Nobody will sign him with the chance that he will go to trial/prison some time soon. No team will want that circus following them all year.

Well I think it could keep him out of the hall of fame at least. If he was convicted, I don't see many sportswriters voting for him then.

I'm kind of tired of this whole mess. I seriously doubt they're going to get a conviction. I'm just hoping this is enough of a deterrent for the Yankees not to sign Bonds. NY was one of the AL teams I kept hearing might take a chance on Bonds next year. His knees and lowered bat speed be damned, the guy still had a .480 OBP and led the majors in walks. Some AL team was going to sign him and if it had been the Yankees I would have thrown up all over myself.

I don't think anyone has to worry about their favorite team trying to sign Bonds at this point. No team is going to want this distraction, which is likely to take some time to play out. Bond's career is essentially over.

Regardless if they get a conviction or not, this could be the final straw that prevents him from being voted into Cooperstown, and depending upon how Bud Selig feels about all of this, he still has the power to kick Bonds out of the game permanently.

Good riddance.

I am not even into baseball, but pretty much this. Can't stand cheaters.

I think this could keep him out of the HOF as well. The only question is his records. They have never taken records out which is the problem there. The only thing MLB would probably do is put an asterisk next them.

I think he'll still get into the HOF. What he'll never be now is a first ballot inductee. And you can bet Cooperstown will now display that home run ball with the fan voted asterick on it. Barry's in no position to demand anything from the HOF now. I think Bonds will get in sometime after his 3rd year of eligibility.
