^^ That is what I am watching. Very close game.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 01:31:29 PM
I can't believe the Chiefs are in a tight game with Indy. Of course Vineteri missing 2 FGS don't help them. Also Manning is playing horrible.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 01:39:04 PM
That is shocking. I doubt it lasts forever though.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 01:40:59 PM
I think it does show the Colts are really banged up. Right now I think the Steelers are a better team than the Colts. If they don't get healthy they will lose in the playoffs early.

I like watching Addai run. Finally a TD by Indy.

Jedi Master Carr

Kansas City answered. Maybe the Chiefs finally have a decent QB in Croyle.

Kale
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:05:37 PM
We're watching the Browns at Ravens, a classic battle between a stoppable force and a movable object.

Interestingly, between the crapfest when the Ravens have the ball and decently good match-up of skills when the Browns have the ball, it's turning out to be a decent game. Each defense has a TD interception return. The Browns offense is scraping out yards when they need it, and Joshua Cribbs is still a beast in the return game. The Ravens offense is finally figuring out how to get those men to move the orange striped posts, and their backup tight end has come up with some big plays in lieu of Todd Heap.

We're also seeing the Bengals and Cardinals. It's been entertaining if you're not a fan of either team. Lots of mistakes on both sides, including two pick-sixes thrown by Carson Palmer. But the Bengals are hanging on down by only 7 in the closing minutes thanks to a long strike to serial convict Chris Henry and a punt block returned for a TD.

EDIT: Dang. The Jets just caught the Steelers flat-footed with a flea-flicker and got Lavernaus Coles wide open. The Steelers have second-year man Anthony Smith at free safety, and he got completely fooled by the play-action. Set up the Jets at the 1, and they managed to get the TD on another play-action.

Nice gutsy play-calling by Mangini. The Jets will still have to find a way to run their offense on the Steelers, and I don't think they can do that.

EDIT: Oh my goodness... I have never seen this happen before. The Browns lined up for another game-tying field goal as time expired, just like last week. The ball struck the upright, fell down THROUGH the goalposts, landed on the support beam BEHIND the crossbar, and bounced back onto the field of play. The refs signaled it no good.

My brother just checked the official rules. If the ball were to pass through the uprights and yet land back on the field of play - for instance, in a really stiff wind, it would be no good. HOWEVER, if the ball hits any object behind the uprights - person or inanimate - and bounces back onto the field of play, it would be good.

And now on discussion they've called it good! Wow! Field goals are actually NOT reviewable plays, so they couldn't have gone to replay. But they still managed to get it right! Cleveland's going to overtime!

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:33:14 PM
strangest ending I have seen. That FG should be good. It went through the upright and hit the back end of the support bar. Man what a crazy play. They reviewed it and the FG is good. They are going to OT.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:37:22 PM
Holy crap, what a drama in Baltimore.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:39:20 PM
You telling me, but they got the call correct. although I am sure the Ravens fans are mad.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:49:28 PM
The Browns win. Whan an ending to that game.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:52:20 PM
Does not get closer than that.

Kale
Nov 18th, 2007, 03:58:59 PM
The Ravens are now 0-5 in the division. A horrible season for Baltimore.

Santonio Holmes is emerging as a real star for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger slightly overthrew Hines Ward on a deep pass, and Ward tipped the ball straight up - a dangerous recipe for an interception. But Holmes, who was in the area, tracked the ball and made a diving catch for the first down. Now he just displayed great patience on a short WR screen, riding his blocks until he could dive for the pylon and the touchdown. The Steelers close it to 10-7.

EDIT: So, what is it about playing the worst defenses in the league that makes the Steelers play like crap?

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 05:42:07 PM
Wild game in Dallas. TO scored a hat trick. It's a shoot-out.

Edit: 4th TD Owens! Hahahahaha

TO is singlehandedly winning me games in two fantasy leagues.

And if you said Jets would win this game, I would have thought you were crazy.

Kale
Nov 18th, 2007, 06:22:34 PM
Hard to win when you spot your opponent over 100 yards in penalties. Very, very poor showing by the Steelers today. :(

What makes it worse is that I know the Jets are going to go stink it up in their next game, just like the Cardinals and Broncos did after beating the Steelers. Still, congratulations to an inspired performance by the Jets defense.

Right now, Steelers look worse than Colts :lol

Figrin D'an
Nov 18th, 2007, 06:33:38 PM
I'm almost tempted to say the second (or maybe third) best team in the AFC right now is Jacksonville. Indy is still racked by injuries and Pittsburgh has a tendency to play down to it's competition too often.

The Chiefs aren't that bad, if they had an OL they could have 7 wins right now. The Steelers are very irratic. I agree with Fig, I think the Jags look like the second best team in the AFC right now. The Colts are too banged up and I don't think they will recover to beat the Pats. Of course I am not sure if the Jags can beat the Pats either.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 07:26:06 PM
I don't think any team can beat the Pats. They look so supreme, it ain't even funny. Speaking of which, Patriots game kicking off in a bit..

Edit: Any bets on how much the Pats are going to drive up the score? :whaa

The way this game is going, they might put the second team in the second half.

Nathanial K'cansce
Nov 18th, 2007, 08:54:33 PM
I would not complain if they did. It'd give us Bills a nice chance.

OH COME ON! Cover Moss!! >_<

Um, Also, I feel sorry for the team I'm playing this week in Fan's fantasy league.. I have both Moss and Owens, with a strong showing from Santonio Holmes. -_-

That is sick. But check out my salary cap team, it's pretty sick too, especially this week:

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:24:47 PM
yikes that is good. Dizzy isn't looking to good right now. Brady is given me 43 points so far. Part of me hopes he goes out there next series to try to give me 50 points heh.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:34:38 PM
Wow, that field goal hit the camera.

Question now is how long they will keep Brady on the field.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:35:27 PM
They are keeping him out here now. If they score again, I doubt they will put him back out there. That last play is a great example of what the Pats do. It isn't there fault that the Bills can't stop a second string FB from going 14 yards. In that last TD 2/3 of the yards came from the FB's runs.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:42:23 PM
They might put Brady out there just to break records. Not sure what the record is for a QB in one game. I also bet Moss said to his team mates in the locker room "I wanna score 1 more than TO!".

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:44:21 PM
Well they are mostly throwing screens, and running the ball on this drive. You can't say the Pats are trying to drive up the score. I guess they should just take a knee for 4 plays. As for records, the only record would be TDs at this points. I think that is 6 and you have like a lot of people tied for it.
Edit
Well they ran it. Hey I am curious is Brady the #1 Fantasy player this year?

Nathanial K'cansce
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:48:50 PM
I'd rather the Pats go for the field goal on those 4th and whatevers when they are in the red-zone.

Yog
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:50:22 PM
Brady is most certainly the #1 fantasy player, almost no matter the scoring format. In SWfans, he is like 100 points above Romo, who is #2.

Edit: Pats TD again. Damn.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 09:56:15 PM
Well I think Brady will be coming out next series. The Patriots are just unbeliebable. The closest team I have seen like them is the 89/90 49er teams. They were that dominant too. In another league that I am playing in I have Brady and Moss and in that league they count Receptions and count completions and minus incompeltions. Right now Moss and Brady have given me 115 points in that league.

Yog

They were THAT dominant? I have not followed football that long, but to me it is unbelievable to think a team can be this dominant. They must be the best team ever. Former versions of Patriots look like weaklings compared to this monster creation.

The 89 49er team were 14-2 and won most of their games by 20 points. They blew out all 3 in the playoff. Beat the Rams by 40 and beat the Broncos by almost 50. The Patriots have a better defense than those Niner teams but the offense was similar. So when was the last team to score 60 points?

Yog

Even the Pats second team makes the Bills look like a college team. This is just ridiculous.

They forced a punt at least.

Yog

I don't know, but the scary thing is, they could have scored 70, maybe 80 if they really wanted.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 10:20:17 PM
Yeah the could, they just gave up in the 4th well for them. I can't believe they are putting the Pats on again next Sunday.

Nathanial K'cansce
Nov 18th, 2007, 10:23:07 PM
Yea, I thought flex time was suppose to put games that actually meant something huge in the scheme of things, like play offs or ...I don't know, close games.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2007, 10:26:32 PM
I don't get the choice for either game. If the Eagles were playing like they did at the end of Last year then maybe. The Eagles though are a medocre team and might not have Mcnabb. Although looking at the schedule I don't see a game that would be much better. Maybe some close games but not against playoff teams.

Nov 19th, 2007, 07:53:35 AM
Well the Pats vs Eagles was scheduled when the Eagles were actually a good team...you also can't argue with the history aspect of what they are doing. Like them or not they are on a roll that has never been seen before and people want to see them.

They could have easily scored 60+ if they tried, I was hoping Brady and Moss would hook up again and almost did. The Pats biggest worry right now is their running game...then again they still rushed for almost 130yds.

The offense really is scary, the team hasn't had a 1,000yd receiver in years and are on pace for 2. Brady is on pace for 60 TD's still and at this point only needs 12 to break Mannings record which he could get in 3 games. Moss is on pace to crush Rice's WR TD record for a season and with some big games down the stretch could break the yardage record too. As a team they are on pace to score 100+ more than the Vikings team which set the record.

This should be fun!

Nathanial K'cansce
Nov 19th, 2007, 11:21:20 AM
people want to see them.

I don't want to see them. :p Of course, that's just bitter divisional rivalry and hatred talking. ^__^

Also, football is fun to watch when you have good tough games that are close or where both teams have a chance. But with how the Pats are playing right now, they are making even the best the NFL have to offer look mediocre. I'd love to see the Pats Steelers game, cause that might actually be worth watching and has the chance to be a really good game on both side, but Pats/Eagles.. with McNabb likely out, we're going to see another snooze fest where the Pats score 40+ again and make the Eagles look silly.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 19th, 2007, 11:47:05 AM
Pretty much, as I said they should have put the Browns-Texans game on because that will be the best game on that day. But that would probably suck worse raiting wise for NBC than what they will get from the Eagle-Pats. Both have big fanbases and they know it will get viewers even if they are changing the channel at halftime.

Kale

Always happy to see that rotten "call-the-time-out-so-the-kicker-has-to-kick-it-twice" trick backfire. :)

Shanahan tries to mess up Rob Bironas, who misses his first attempt anyway. But, having had the benefit of a practice kick, Bironas goes up and kicks it through.

EDIT: This has really been a good game. Jay Cutler and Vince Young are both making a lot of great plays through the air and on the ground, though Young has had some good passes dropped. I hope these young quarterbacks can stay healthy as their careers progress. They're both showing a whole lot of promise.
