Quite a few tough ones this week, especially the division match-ups. Except we all know that the Steelers own the Browns.
Actually, I expect the Browns to give Pittsburgh a considerably tougher game than the Ravens did. But then, it's almost an opposite problem. They've developed a pretty good offense, but their defense is still horrible. Maybe Willie Parker could try and make a run at AP's new record... ;)

It'll be 28-21, all defensive and special teams touchdowns. :p

I see a few people are picking Denver because of Johnson being out. Right now I think Denver is still worse than them. Denver has Culter, Henry and Walker all out. I think those three injuries nulls Johnson's. I think the game will be low scoring and KC will pull it out because they can't stop anybody running the ball. I wouldn't be shocked to see Holmes have a 100 yards.

Did you guys see that last TD by the Browns. First it is called incomplete. But then they review the play, and his footprint is visible on the line. It is judged a TD. That was a close call.
Browns up 21-6

The top 8 teams make it to playoff in the swfans league. You would have to suck pretty bad for the remaining games not to make it. Having Jackson the next 4 weeks will probably make the points difference you need.

Have the planets and stars gone out of alignment or something? Miami and Rams pretending to win their games.

- What a run by Roethlisberger!!

LOL don't look at me. Honestly, I thought Denver wouldn't have Cutler he was questionable going in to yesterday. I figured they lose because Ramsey just flat out sucks. Huard played horrible although to be fair that offensive line is terrible. They should just release everyone but Waters and sign 4 other guys. I am also glad Dizzy is banned because I wouldn't hear the end of it, although Denver sucks too. I don't think either team will finish above 500. If the Chargers can't win that division then they should fire Turner immeditely.

yeah it is a good game. The Second half games have been unpredictable. The Ravens first suck, and then you have the Lions losing to Arizona by 10 right now. And that Bears-Raiders game looks unwatchable.

Got back from the Steelers-Browns game, and I'm fairly hoarse. Wow, what a game!
If not for the Steelers' putrid special teams coverage, the Browns wouldn't have had a chance. Giving up returns of 90 and 100 yards is inexcusable - especially the WAY they gave up that 100-yard TD return. Cribbs missed a low bouncing kick around the 5, recovered it at the goal line, and then ran through five separate tackle attempts on his way to the endzone. The Steelers D played lights out in the second half.
Ben's TD run was freakin' incredible. Everybody, including the Browns, kept watching for him to slide. But I was equally amazed how Ben responded after a catastrophic breakdown on special teams - a solid drive with several long 3rd-down conversions either with his arm or with his feet, capped off by a nifty escape from the backfield and toss to Heath for the score.
This game highlighted the Steelers' strengths as much as their weaknesses. I find it encouraging that they can come back from adversity like that. Now to address those weaknesses... :p

Wow Manning throws his 4 INT. Cromenti is just an amazing CB.

Manning had some pretty terrible games early in his career. By my count, 3 of those INTs tonight were not his fault. His receivers either gave up on the route or just weren't where they were supposed to be.
Besides, the Colts could still end up winning this game. The Chargers can't pull away, and have handed Indy a couple of cheap scores.

If the Chargers lose this game than they should fire Norv Turner right after it. There was some horrible play calling in one of those series.

The Chargers barely survived that wild game. I guess that False start was huge as Vinatieri just missed that by a few inches. I have to say he sure has fallen off his game. A few years ago he never missed those.
Yog

9/10 times, Colts would have won that game. They made it very difficult for themselves with all those turnovers. No doubt which is the better team. When was the last time you saw Manning get so many interceptions in one game? I think he had like 2 the whole season before this game.

Dang, my picks SUCKED this weekend. :x
I will NEVER doubt my Chargers again. Although in the end, they were lucky to have held onto the win. How Vinatieri missed that last field goal, I have no idea.
And for the longest time, I thought I was watching Eli Manning instead of Peyton. Yikes. :x
Kale
Nov 12th, 2007, 08:48:57 AM
Aside from the two runbacks by Sproles and the interceptions, the Chargers played horribly - despite being given the ball five times by Manning (the sixth was a desperation heave), the offense could only manage ten points. And despite the Colts being down to FIFTEEN healthy players on offense by the end of the game, the Chargers defense still nearly gave up a 23-point lead, and that FG attempt by Vinatieri would have been for the tie rather than the win had the Chargers not botched an extra point in the first quarter.
As soon as the Colts scored that first touchdown, I thought the Chargers were going to lose. And they did their level best.
Incidentally, I'm not entirely sure about that procedure call on fourth down. The only players who shifted were elligible receivers. The Colts use that kind of motion all the time. Now, the call was not a false start, which is a flinch while you're in your stance, not an illegal shift, which is like offsides - you let the play run its course and make the call at the end. The call was simulating a snap - trying to draw the defense off-sides by making them think the play has started. Now, it probably shouldn't have made a difference unless the Colts really were planning to go for it. Vinatieri had no business missing that chip shot. And I don't doubt that the motion was designed to draw a jumpy defense off-sides. But what made that play different from every other multiple-man shift the Colts and other teams routinely run? It seems like a fine line to me, and I'd really like to have it clarified - I'm sure Dungy would, too.

Of course against any other team if the Colts had played that bad they would have got killed. If the Pats or Steelers were up 23 points on them, the colts would have never got that close. The Chargers are just horribly coached. I saw some of the worse play calling of the season in that second half. They should have ran the ball on that three and out near the end zone at least twice. Of course Rivers also sucks and has nobody to throw the ball to except Gates who was doubled or triple covered most of the time. The Chargers will probably win 9 games and win that crappy division because I don't the Broncos or Chiefs winning more than 8 games. And that might be a stretch.

And here I thought misjudging the Lions would be my undoing. Several unexpected upsets, the largest of which is certainly the Colts.

I love it! The Pats lose the #32 pick in the first round and will end up with a top 5 pick, maybe even 2 or 3 the way the 49ers are going.
49ers traded the pick for an offensive lineman, I can't recall which one though.
Whats even better is what the Pats got. They traded the 1st rounder to the 49ers for a 4th round pick and next years 1st rounder. Anyone wanna guess what they did with the 4th round pick? Only trade for Randy Moss the probable offensive player of the year.
And knowing the Pats they won't make a pick that high in the draft unless there is a absolute can't miss stud sitting there, they'll turn the pick into a bunch of other picks and maybe even pick up a extra 1st rounder next year to boot.

Well they could take McFadden who is probably the best RB of this year's draft class. RB to me is there most glaring need. Maloreny just doesn't seem like an every down back.

Of course McFadden will probably go top three so he might not be on the board, unless the Niners have one of the worse three records. Right now they are tied with Oakland and I don't see the Raiders winning a game the rest of the season. To me the worse 4 teams right now are Miami, the Jets, Oakland, and St. Louis. I think the Rams will win more games than the Raiders. So, I would say the Niner pick will be 4th or 5th right now. Mcfadden will probably be gone.
