I'm looking for a new MMO

Lately I've become really bored with World of Warcraft. I find myself logging on and wasting time for an hour or so, not really accomplishing anything and then logging off dissatisfied.

I loved Star Wars Galaxies before the combat update changed it radically, so I'm not going to re-subscribe to that. And I tried Everquest 2 and it didn't tickle my fancy.

So, what other MMO's are there that you guys think are really good? I'm quite interested in some sort of merchant profession and a game world with lots of freedom like SWG. I'm gonna search around for reviews, but I'd like to hear some people's recommendations on what they think are decent MMO's. Also, I'm leaning more towards sci-fi, but if there's a fantasy style one that you want to mention please do so. It's the gameplay more than anything.

Not that this will be out for awhile, but new Jumpgate is a sci-fi one :) your character is a ship!

Age of Conan is coming in August '08, and there will be beta testing going on before that. You may want to look into it.

Otherwise, Hellgate: London has an MMO-like component to it.

Funnily enough I've just downloaded the 14-day free trial for Eve Online. I've read good things about it. Not heard of Jumpgate though. When is it due to be released?

As for Age of Conan, that'll be a definite buy I think. But I still need my sci-fi fix. And from what I've heard, Hellgate London doesn't seem to have the 'massive' aspect of MMO's. But again, I like the look of it because it's design specification was 'Diablo 2 meets Half Life".

I've only done the tutorial so far, but I really like it. I'm an engineer - gonna make me some megabucks! I hope I can build my own starships.

Eve is a great game, but all I ever did was do missions or mining. I might head back to it soon with the coming Trinity Upgrade
