This can't go well..
Patriots have a hard time historically when playing down in Miami. I was catching up on some stats, and Brady and the Pats are like, 2-4 or worse when in Miami.
Pats are still way too talented and good and will probably crush the Dolphins, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins walk away with their first win.

Randy Moss is just amazing. 2 double covered TDs, and he made it look easy. Dolphins could put the entire defense on him, but Brady would just throw in that direction anyway.

Here I was thinking the Texans could handle the Titans as long as Vince Young is on the sidelines. I didn't count on Matt Schaub going to the sidelines, too. Texans backup Drew Rosenfels came out and threw a pick on his first play at QB. And things haven't really improved.
I count thirteen teams that have had serious QB trouble so far this year. The Falcons lost Vick before it began. The Panthers lost both Jake Delhomme and David Carr (though Vinnie the ageless one isn't doing too badly). The Bears finally had to yank Rex Grossman. The 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals have all lost their starters to injury (the Cardinals lost their top two).
In the AFC, we have Pennington dropping in and out for the Jets, Trent Green ending his career mid-season (hopefully) for the Dolphins, Steve McNair out for the Ravens, Charlie Frye being deported from Cleveland (though that seems to have been a good thing), and the Titans and Texans playing each other right now with their back-ups. And then there's the Raiders who still have never really settled their QB situation.
Make it fourteen if you want to count Eli Manning's injury, but after we were told he'd be out six weeks, he came back out to lose to the Packers, then went on to beat the Redskins.
EDIT: Make it fourteen anyway; I forgot that J.P. Lossman is out for the Bills. But the Bills are still leading the Ravens.

Brady with 5 TD passes in the first half. Good lord...
The Pats could drop 75+ on the Dolphins if they really wanted to. We'll see at what point they calls off the dogs.

Tom Brady is steamrolling Dolphins.
Here is a fun number about Brady: 10 TDs in 6 quarters.
He just stands there in the pocket and has ages to make the throw. If they keep up like this, Patriots could make a historical scoring record today.
Kale
Oct 21st, 2007, 12:55:24 PM
The record for touchdown passes in a single game stands at seven. Five quarterbacks have done it:
Sid Luckman, Chi. Bears vs. N.Y. Giants, Nov. 14, 1943
Adrian Burk, Philadelphia vs. Washington, Oct. 17, 1954
George Blanda, Houston vs. N.Y. Titans, Nov. 19, 1961
Y.A. Tittle, N.Y. Giants vs. Washington, Oct. 28, 1962
Joe Kapp, Minnesota vs. Baltimore, Sept. 28, 1969
Source: http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/indiv/passing
With 21 TDs in his first six games, Tom Brady is also on pace for 56 TDs on the season, which would shatter Peyton Manning's mark of 49.

Dolphins had a pretty good drive, until they got intercepted and Ronnie Brown got injured. Can it possibly get worse than this for the Dolphins.
http://mneh.org/s/siren.gif Tom Brady has the ball! http://mneh.org/s/siren.gif
Edit: Surprisingly, Patriots did not get anything productive out of their drive.

This is just an embarassment for the Dolphins. Not that anyone expected them to win, but I'm sure they at least expected themselves to keep it competitive....not this. Holy cow, it is definetly men against boys today.

The Bills are well on their way to becoming the first AFC East team other than the Patriots to win a game outside their division!
Have to say, the Ravens seem to be really flat. They shouldn't be losing to a team like the Bills, but they can't put anything consistent together on offense. Willis McGahee's breakaway run remains their only score.
I think the Browns may be the second-best team in the AFC North this year.
EDIT: Matt Cassel has just come in for the Patriots. Which is appropriate at this point. Amazingly, the Patriots have only 61 yards rushing in this game.
ANOTHER EDIT: Now Matt Cassel has thrown a pick-six. Who knows, maybe we'll see Brady back in after all. Only up by three scores now.

Touchdown Dolphins. That'll give Brady the excuse to score another.
But, come on - who predicted the Dolphins would put up 28 on the Patriots? ;)
Holy - the Ravens just threw an incomplete pass on 4th and 1 from the 50 with 1:45 to go.
Come on, Bills! Just one first down, and it's over!
Hm, actually, they should be able to pretty much run it out on the punt.
EDIT: And they do! Bills win!
And the Patriots have just put in Matt Gutierrez at QB. And... I've never heard of him before. :p
EDIT EDIT: The Cardinals have just recovered an onside kick, down by 2 with 22 seconds left!!!
Ahhhh, Neil Rackers barely missed the 55-yard field goal. As luck would have it, Joe Gibbs did not call time-out just before the snap.

God, Tampa Bay is playing horribly. I mean, I can understand their offense after a long 1st quarter and the injuries suffered so far, but the defense is playing horribly, extremley horribly. It's like they don't know how to tackle, they just bounce and miss.

Looks like Bengals - Jets could be a game to watch. Pennington throws for 57 yard TD. Palmer follows up immediately with a 50 yard plus pass to Chad Johnson. This could become a shootout and very entertaining.
Kale
Oct 21st, 2007, 02:25:27 PM
On the contrary, the Texans aren't dead yet - they've just gone up by one with 57 seconds left!
My brother just tuned into the Houston Texans radio broadcast online in time to hear them call a 53-yard TD pass to put the Texans ahead:
"Rosenfels throws down the field AND IT'S CAUGHT BY ANDRE DAVIS! IT'S A TOUCHDOWN! IT'S A MIRACLE!!!"
:lol
Alas, the Titans have just made it deep into Texans territory and will be able to try an easy field goal for the win. If Rob Bironas converts this, he will have set the NFL record with 8 field goals in a game. And here we were all excited about Tom Brady...
And it's good - the Titans defeat the Texans 38-36 after the Texans scored 29 in the fourth quarter to pull ahead. What a heart-breaker for the Texans.

Well, hey, you can't begrudge them for getting excited. ;)
It's fun listening to the various announcing teams, for the most part. The Browns announcers are maddening because they always tell you in excruciating detail what the formation is, but often leave out little things like how much yards were gained or where they are on the field. The Bengals announcers are fun because whenever the Bengals make a mistake, the color guy groans hilariously. And then there was the game against the Steelers where they persisted in calling the Steelers' RB "Big Willie Parker." :lol
But my personal favorites are, of course, Bill Hilgrove and Tunch Ilkin for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They're not the same without Myron Cope (Yoi!), but Hilgrove is still one of the best play-by-play guys in the business - tells you exactly what he sees and treats exciting plays as exciting even when they're going against his team.

Yeah and the Colts almost got beat by the Titans. I think the Colts will lose 2-3 games right now and I think the Patriots will only lose one. Not sure who will beat them. Also I will post the standings later tonight. I guess I am taking charge of the pickem contest :)
jjwr
Oct 23rd, 2007, 12:35:47 PM
Its also hard to judge how good the Pats can really be as they are typically letting up in the 3rd and 4th quarter of most games. Had they went out full bore in the 2nd half of the Fins game Brady would have tossed 9 TD's and they'd have won by 50.
Yog
Oct 23rd, 2007, 03:29:47 PM
Personally, I think the Pats look so strong, the only team that can beat them for their remaining season schedule is the Colts, and I am not sure about that one either. I would actually be surprised if they lose more than 1 game, they look that good. This might be the best team in NFL history. The Pats in previous years, even when they won the SB, did not look nearly as good at this, IMO. Heck, I may hate the Pats, but I won't hesitate to say they would deserve to win this year.

Last year when someone missed a week we gave them a score equal to the lowest score of the week if I recall. It penalizes them with a non optimal score but keeps them in the running.

I forgot about that. If we can get what exactly we did last year we can do that if nobody has any problems with it. I want to say it was something to do with the road games but don't count me on that.
