Looks like the Jets are going to wear the old New York Titans uniforms today. It's actually not that bad of a uniform, much better than what the Eagles wore a few weeks ago.

WOW - Larry Johnson still has no rushing touchdowns on the year. He just broke open a huge run against the Bengals and was inside the two yard line when Delthea O'Neal stripped the ball, which bounced off LJ's knee and through the back of the endzone for a touchback.
This was after the Bengals had a fumble recovery overtuned on a replay (which was the right call), and on the next play there was a fumbled snap which the Bengals would have returned for a TD had the Chiefs tackle not moved early.
And the Chiefs' drive was set up in the first place by a Carson Palmer sack and fumble in the backfield. We're watching a real comedy of errors here between the Cincy Bungles and the Chefs.
Yog

^^ ah, that explains it.
LOL, Larry Johnson rushed for a 65 yard loss then fumbled?
Johnson strikes back with a TD!

Dolphins getting smacked around violently by Cleveland Browns. When will the misery ever end.
Kale
Oct 14th, 2007, 12:22:14 PM
Yay, Bungles. And yet, against all logic, they will manage to give the Steelers trouble in one of their two meetings. Even when Cincinnati was the losingest team in the league and the Steelers were in the AFC Championship every other year, they'd usually split, either by way of the Steelers inexplicably playing lousy or by way of the refs messing up on an onside kick attempt.
EDIT: Washington is really starting to annoy me. If I pick them to win, they lose. If I pick against them, they win. I have no doubt they're doing this purely to spite me.

I am already looking forward to the Patriots / Cowboys game. Clearly the highlight of the evening.
Kale
Oct 14th, 2007, 01:24:00 PM
DANG, Adrian Peterson is having himself a game. 11 carries for 176 yards, including two TD runs of 67 and 73 yards, respectively. That yardage mark is already a record for a rookie in a single game, and the last back to have two 60+ yard scores in a single game was Barry Sanders. This kid's an absolute beast.
I think it also bears saying that the Chicago defense is not tough against the run this year.

Adrian Peterson already looks like a first round pick in fantasy football next year. Very impressive for a rookie.
In the meanwhile, Dolphins does a comeback gaining points on Browns. Can they pull this off? Is it possible?? Will they finally get a win!?
Answer: Of course not. Watch the Dolphins fall flat on their face in the last remaining minutes of the game. First round pick is their DESTINY! :lol

It had to happen. Total collapse by the Dolphins. The only way this team can win is if the other let them do it on purpose :p
Adrian Peterson. 231 yards - 3 TD. What a monster.

Close game between Titans and the Bucs, but the Bucs managed to pull it off with a FG, preventing it from going into OT.

Tune into the Bears-Vikes game if you have a chance - Devin Hester just snagged an 81-yard pass from Brian Griese to tie the game at 31 with 1:38 left!
EDIT: All the Bears had to do was keep the Vikings from scoring in 1:38 to force overtime, and they gave up a 54-yard kickoff return. Despite a couple good defensive plays, Ryan Longwell converted a 55-yard FG attempt for the win as time expired.

The first two drives of the Patriots game is pretty foreboding what will happen. First drive Pats score without much effort. Dallas on the other hand gets tackled, incomplete pass, then a sack. Yep, this is probably not even a fair match.

Cowboy's D shut down the Pats in their second drive. Dallas may not be an easy write off after all.
Yog

The Dallas defense really showed up there. Question is, can they cut through Patriots defense (without turnovers)?
Meanwhile, LT already got 2 TDs and 69 yards..

The other game we're getting is the Panthers and Cardinals. The Panthers, having lost both Jake Delhomme and David Carr to injury, have signed 79-year-old Vinny Testaverde (okay, he's 43), and he's playing like he's back at Miami University. The Cardinals, on the other hand, have just lost Kurt Warner, putting Tim Rattay in at QB, and he's playing like... well, like a third-string QB. The Cardinals had better hope Warner can come back.
In unrelated news, the Raiders just ended up with a 4th and 43. :lol
Yog

Tom Brady fumble leading to a TD. THAT I did not expect.
Kale
Oct 14th, 2007, 03:57:08 PM
Wow, what a play by Romo for that TD!
Hurrying backwards to avoid the all-out blitz, threw off his back foot to Owens on a crossing pattern, and Owens might not have even made the first down if two Patriots DBs hadn't fallen over each other in the defensive backfield. I'm glad they converted after losing that pass to TO inside the 5 which absolutely should've been ruled a force-out.
The Cowboys are indeed giving them more of a game than I expected. This is one of the very few cases in which I would even conceive of rooting for the Cowboys.
Yog
Oct 14th, 2007, 03:58:29 PM
Hahaha, TD Owens. First there is some BS video review where TO gets an incomplete catch because they would not consider the pushout. Then he goes "ok, lets score a TD then". It is 21-17, and Cowboys are giving a fight.
Yog
Oct 14th, 2007, 04:27:56 PM
Woooohooooo! Dallas in the lead! Consider me a Cowboys fan!!! :crack
Kale
Oct 14th, 2007, 04:30:11 PM
Well, those are the rules about the push-out. It's a judgment call and therefore cannot be affected by review, just as a penalty like pass interference or holding cannot be called or retracted in review, no matter how obvious it is in the replay. It's annoying, but it'd be more annoying if the refs started second-guessing that sort of thing in replay on close plays. So calling the pass incomplete was absolutely the correct call.
Yog
Oct 14th, 2007, 04:34:21 PM
I dunno about that. I mean, is not the point of video review to get the correct decision? They might as well drop video review altogether if they are not doing that, IMO.
Kale
Oct 14th, 2007, 04:37:20 PM
Bah, that was a bad pass interference call that just gave the Patriots a 1st and goal.
And video replay must be limited somehow. Force-outs are by necessity judgment calls. There was a force-out called in the Arizona-Carolina game that might not really have been a force-out. Should John Fox have been able to challenge it? Usually the ref seeing the play happen ten feet in front of him has a better view than any camera. Sometimes he just makes a mistake. The human error factor has always been a part of the game, though they try to reduce it as much as possible. That's why replay generally applies to the most momentous calls in a game - touchdowns, possession, field position relative to the first down marker.
If you don't have those limits, every play could just as well be reviewed.
EDIT: On that Marion Barber run: WTF?!?!?
Yog
Oct 14th, 2007, 04:40:36 PM
Bah, Patriots in the lead again. 28-24. Still a close game though. Very exciting this.
Kale
Oct 14th, 2007, 05:04:41 PM
The Cowboys are killing themselves with penalties. 100 yards so far. That's disgusting.
Yog
Oct 14th, 2007, 05:08:57 PM
Yeah, it seems every time they make a big gain, it gets ruined by some offensive penalty.
Jedi Master Carr
Oct 14th, 2007, 06:02:03 PM
The Patriots offense is amazing. Can they be beat? Although honestly they will lose one game maybe one of the last three because the Patriots just won't care. Other interesting news Tony Gonzalez got the record for TD passes for a TE. He should have all the records by year ends.

I'm 7-4 before the late games. That'll probably keep me entrenched in the middle of the pack. :p
And, in response to Jedi Master Carr, I'll say the Patriots are dominant like the Rams were dominant the year they lost the Super Bowl to an upstart team no one saw coming... ;)

I don't think so. The Rams didn't look that good that year. They looked better the year they won the SB. The Pats remind me of the 89 49ers who had so many weapons and a very good defense. I don't think the Pats will go unbeaten I think they will finish either 14-2 or 15-1.

The Patriots look so strong, it is hard to imagine they won't end up the champion this year. The only teams I could see stopping them are the Colts and Chargers when they are at 100%.
Ryan Pode
Oct 15th, 2007, 09:31:16 AM
I think the Ravens defense can stop the Patriots. However I also think that the Ravens offense, in it's current shape, would give the Patriots defense plenty of turnovers and short fields.
Park Kraken
Oct 15th, 2007, 12:04:35 PM
Before all the injuries, I think the Tampa Bay offense stood a good chance of scoring points against the Pats.
Kale
Oct 15th, 2007, 01:26:36 PM
The Steelers also have the defensive firepower to match up with the Patriots. Remember that just three years ago they sent the undefeated Patriots home losers after jumping to a 21-0 lead off a good offensive drive and two Patriots turnovers. They've lost a few starters since then, but their replacements are doing even better, and players like Casey Hampton and Troy Polamalu are more dominant than ever.
Every team gearing up for the Patriots is going to treat the match-up as their biggest game of the regular season. That's tremendous pressure to play against, even for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The Colts probably have the best shot, since they play them in Indy, but they'll have to find a way to shore up their run defense. I rate the Steelers next, but they'll need a great offensive game plan to open an early lead, something they haven't been able to do yet against a really good defense. I trust Dick LeBeau to come up with another genius defensive plan like the ones that won them a Super Bowl a couple years ago; the onus will be on Bruce Arians to put Ben, Willie, Santonio, Heath, and Hines in a position to make plays, like Ken Wisenhunt did against Indy and Denver in the same year.
JMK
Oct 15th, 2007, 03:28:55 PM
Nobody in the NFL can stop the Patriots right now except for the Patriots. Nobody's defense will hold them to less than 30. Even without Maroney they are insanely good. You may be able to slow them down, but that's about it. They're going to hang 30 on everyone until the end of the year and they decide to start resting everyone.
Liam Jinn
Oct 15th, 2007, 09:31:55 PM
Indy is the team, at least I think, that has the best chance to beat the Pats in the reg season. Steelers and Ravens, I'm not seeing enough on both sides of the ball to bet against the Pats. Tampa Bay...pffft... If anything (since the Cowboys already lost) I'd love to see Miami take the game next week, 0-6 vs. 6-0, c'mon! :)
Oh, and what's the deal with the Patriots? I mean, you play against America's team, and win? Patriots my butt! :shakefist
So does anyone know the standings so far between all of us in the pick'em?

I was beginning to wonder when the Madden Curse would strike. Watch it go downhill from this point.. :p
Titans | V. Young will be questionable for Week 7 - Mon Oct 15 7:26:00 p.m. ET 2007
(KFFL) Updating a previous item, Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young (quadriceps) is day-to-day with a strained right quadriceps, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. Young will be questionable for Week 7.
Titans | Young had MRI Monday - Mon Oct 15 6:07:00 p.m. ET 2007
(KFFL) The Sports Network reports Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young (quadriceps) had an MRI Monday, Oct. 15, and the results are not yet known. Young has a strained right quadriceps and is considered day-to-day.
V.Y. has quadriceps strain; team hopeful - Mon Oct 15 4:42:00 p.m. ET 2007
(Rotoworld) After he underwent an MRI on Monday, the Titans are calling Vince Young's quadriceps injury a "strain" and say he's day-to-day.
Impact: "There is no potential surgery required," coach Jeff Fisher said Monday. "He has a quad strain and he is going to have to work through it. He has been a quick healer." Fisher added that Young wouldn't be able to practice if the team held workouts on Monday, but is hopeful V.Y. can play at Houston.

Young's injury seems pretty minor right now. We will have to see what happens this weekend. I don't believe in the whole Madden curse thing. And about the results, if nobody else has updated them by tonight I will do it. I am not sure who is keeping track of them this year.
