Ridley Scott is ready to release the final, definitive version of Blade Runner. It'll be in theaters and then a 5 disk DVD set, including all versions of the film. I think.

Wired interviewed Mr. Scott here (http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywood/magazine/15-10/ff_bladerunner) , and you should read it, its great.

Oh and Deckard is a replicant.

It's great to see that the ultimate vision for the film will finally be released. The original theatre cut of the film was a case study in how tampering by studio executives can taint a great film.

It's amazing how that vision of the future, practically mocked and derided when the film was released, is looking to be far more accurate that we could have ever possibly imagined.

I tried to watch this movie and couldn't get into it at all. I really need to give it a second try.

Blade Runner.

In theatres.

Joygasm.

The ambience of that film is such a joy to take in. The score is simply beautiful, so relaxing and hypnotic, yet at the same time creates a sense of emptyness. I love dystopias. Very evocative.

I'll be at the cinema the night this comes out.

Oh and btw Hol - I eventually got Droo to watch my DVD and he loved it. I only hope you kept up your end of the bargain!

And they accuse Lucas of producing too many versions to suck out cash from fans? Blade Runner is the real case study in that rubbish. Prediction Super Ultimate Directors Final cut coming soon!

I love the book, but I can't get into the movie so much. Maybe I have seen the 'wrong' version. Hell, I'm not even sure which version I've seen.

This Final Cut will be on the ultimated DVD set as well. I doubt I'll catch it in theaters. I took my wife to see one of the updated versions a few years ago and she didn't care for it. I know the original gets a lot of grief sometimes but I actually prefer it to the updated versions I've seen. I like the Ford narration. It gives the movie a film noir feel that I really like.

Quoted from the interview:

"The director's cut removed the voice-over and that silly ending"

"If I were an architect I'd say, you know, "You can't have that chair"

I love the man - he's a legend.
