Cleveland scores a TD on their first drive against Baltimore - the result of a good kick-off return followed by some very nice play-calling. The first and goal was set up by a sideline pass to Kellen Winslow on which the Ravens cover man fell down, springing Winslow for a big gain.

Hey, it's early, but could this be another divisional upset for the Browns? Wouldn't make me too sad. :)

EDIT: Brett Favre has just broken the record for NFL career TD passes - with 4:56 left in the first quarter, he hit Greg Jennings on a sixteen-yard slant to the endzone. The game paused briefly to play a pre-recorded congratulatory message from Dan Marino, the previous record-holder. It's amazing to see such an old-school player still performing at this level, and I don't think anyone but fans of his division rivals have any reason to dislike him. Congratulations, Brett!

EDIT 2: 24-3 Browns - I wasn't really being that serious. :eek

Jamal Lewis tried to leap over the pile for a goalline touchdown, and, failing that, he stretched the ball over the top. They ruled it a TD, though replays appeared to show it was just shy - by an inch, if that. But Brian Billick didn't throw the challenge flag until after the ball had been snapped for the extra point.

The Browns have two TDs on turnovers. McNair is looking sluggish in the pocket, and the Ravens defense is leaving some serious gaps against the running game. This is not the same Baltimore team that dominated the division last year.

I think people in Dallas are ready to change Romo's number from 9 to 12, after that first down run. WOW!

Thus far in Brian Griese's 2007 debut, he has gone 22 of 37 for 180 yards, 1 TD, and 3 interceptions.

Chicago fans are reportedly ecstatic with this performance. :p

What gaps in the running game? Jamal Lewis - 23 for 64 and a "Touchdown." Ravens gave that game away.

But it's NOT Rex Grossman :p

Figrin D'an

I think what's rather funny is how all of the pundits have been saying that Griese would take care of the football, manage the game better than Grossman, and not make the same bad decisions and silly mistakes.

Yeah... so how's that working out for you?

If Griese struggles for a few weeks, do they go back to Grossman, or do they give Kyle Orton another shot?

I hear Jeff George is a free agent. :p

Carolina isn't looking so good right now, Bucs went 4th game straight without allowing any points scored against them in the fourth, and right now at the end of the first quarter the score is 14-0 Bucs over the Panthers.

Cadillac Williams is out again with an injury, don't know how bad, but it's serious. Nice show of support by the team when he was injured thoug.

Oh. Well, now I'm glad I sat Cadillac.

*waves Bills Banner* Trent Edwards for Prez!

Does anyone know if Green Bay and Dallas play each other this year?

Yes, November 29th in Dallas.

Well the Panthers managed to rally to prevent the game from becoming a shutout. Final score was 20-7, and the Bucs play against the Colts next weekend. Should be a really good game.

BTW, I'll be leaving Thursday to a carshow out of town, I'll be gone the weekend, so I may post an early Week 5 bet on Tuesday or Wensday.

We have all had horrible weekends. Man I so wish I had went with KC. I just didn't think they pull that one out in SD. Either the Chargers just suck or the Chiefs will be a good team this year. I have to say Dwayne Bowe is the real deal. That kid is amazing. I guess Norv Turner was a huge mistake to go with. They should have never fired Marty,

Figrin D'an
Sep 30th, 2007, 06:29:42 PM
For the record, I'd like to say that I called this about San Diego after Week 1. They may squeak into the playoffs as a wild card team if they can turn things around in the next couple of weeks, but there is no way they win that division.

Dallas looks really good right now. Romo will have a game or two this season in which he just won't play well, so we'll see if the running game can carry them in those situations. I'm still a little weary of their pass defense though.

Indy just keeps on rolling, they look relaxed and confident. Hopefully for them, however, Joseph Addai isn't seriously injured.

Green Bay won again, Favre is playing really well and not taking nearly as many chances as he has been forced to in recent years... that's as much a credit to a solid receiving corp as it is to him. They need to find a running game though, and soon, or they'll struggle against the better defenses in the league. I can possibly see them winning their next two games, both at home, against Chicago and Washington, but road trips after the bye week to Denver and Kansas City are going to be rough if they can't run the ball at least somewhat.

Jedi Master Carr
Sep 30th, 2007, 07:43:24 PM
You were right about the Chargers. I just couldn't see how with all that talent they have so much trouble. Also I forgot the Raiders in this. Hard to believe the Chargers are below the Raiders. And I don't think the Raiders are that good, I think KC is better than them barely. Also Denver doesn't look that good. I think with the way that division looks 10 wins might be enough.

I didn't see it who did he pick?

The bozos in charge of the Chargers who decided to can Marty Schottenheimer. (I have no idea if I spelled that right and I'm too tired to look it up :lol.) He showed a clip of LT from the post-game press conference, and LT was about to cry, I swear...Olbermann said to take his belt and his shoelaces away from him. And he also said people in the stands were yelling, "Marty! Marty!" by the end of the game. Basically he said he hated seeing such a good franchise driven totally into the ground in only 4 games, and I agree wholeheartedly.

I think I'm something like 5-8 for the weekend...I guess I feel okay about tomorrow night's game, but the way this weekend has gone so far, I dunno.

And McNabb sacked twelve times...holy crap.

I think I'm 5-8. I needed both Philly and NE to win to break .500. Oh well, this is one crazy NFL year.

Edit: That Packer-Dallas game, if they keep this up, is looking to be the preview for the NFC championship game.

One of my good friends is a dire-hard cheese head, so he's on cloud 9 so far. And to be nice to him, I said we (the Bills) would knock off the Cowboys next week on MNF.

... Here's hoping for a miracle.

Same way with me. Why I always pick Bucs, Steelers, Ravens, Texans, and Jacksonville to win. Most of those teams happen to be pretty good this year. It's because those are the teams that other people like whom I like.
