Backstory: Maize was born to well-to-do Corellians, known for their philanthropy as well as their regard as professors at a Corellian university. An only child, he was soon orphaned (at age 10) when his parents were killed in a gravsled accident. Of all the passengers aboard, only Maize and one other child survived; it was luck, or the Force's will, that they'd happened to hide and play in an impossibly sturdy footlocker stowed aboard the gravsled in Coronet.
Maize was raised by relatives in the countryside on their grain farm until adulthood. He then went to the university where his parents had once taught, earned a degree in technology himself.
He first began to realize he could touch the Force when he was in his teens and had incredibly real dreams about his parents looking in on him. Maize began to understand he was experiencing visions that others did not, and quietly tried to learn more about the Force. He decided he would have to seek out the Jedi in order to know more...
