Cumulus Heist - Random Thought Planning thread

I want to work out main plot points here because I think the main players all have access here...

Basicly I want to pull a major con/heist. Somthing along the lines of Oceans 11 and The Sting.

The Mark - Sasseeri Reeouurra
The Event - a major Shockboxing Match up at the Cumulus.



Ultimately I want to nab a TON of credits and leave Sasseeri and the Black Sun thinking the Imperials did it.

Mu needs a really good reason though. Some reason to hit Sassy where it hurts the most.

Well, perhaps Sasseeri's underlings have put some pressure on Mu and Cloud 9 to come under Ms. Reeouurra's protective wing, so to speak.

Someone's nose gets busted up, and Mu doesn't like being pushed around?

How about if it's not just Mu, think we could pull someone else in on it who's getting pushed around by Sassy? And not just pushed around but seriously hurt, almost killed?

Smitty seems a likely target, since he's skating on the wrong side of the law. Sassy's people probably don't like competition - maybe he gets too close to something he shouldn't know anything about?

What if Smitty salvages a floating deralict ship somewhere that has been left for Sassy?

It could have *anything* on it.

I don't know how a derelict ship could be left for her, but certainly if some of her people found the ship, say, a day after he did, and he tells them off, they might decide they're going to salvage it themselves anyway.

The derelict ship can be one of hers - running a big load of spice in from her operations in Hutt space to the Core. :D

OOoooooooo oh yeah.
Something malfunctions on the flight, crew have to abandon the ship temporarily.

Smitty happens upon it before one of her repair crews can get back to it and thinks he's hit the motherload. And he's just stupid enough to think he can get away with nabbin it and she won't trace it back to him.

I figure the sting operation will need a lot of people.

We've got an NPC bookie in the bar "Terry" who can clue us in on the big fixed shockboxing match.

If we can get Molly to provide info on the layout of the Cumulus...

We'll need a high roller to get close to Sassy and pretend to loose cash along with Sassy.

A couple of different ways we could spin the sting
- either the Snatch/Pulp Fiction route where the fighter who is suppose to take a dive doesn't then runs like mad (or fakes their own death)
- go The Sting route where Imperials (our guys) storm the place and bust up the joint and confiscate the profits
- go the Ocean's 11 route and somehow swipe the goods in the casino's vault then make it look like something else entirely happened.

OR - we could get really complicated and try and make something that somehow encompasses all three and leaves Sassy and crew sitting there wondering what the frack just happened.

I think you should have the fighter not take a dive and run like mad. Then Mu can collect big by betting that he wins.

AND do the Oceans 11 or the Sting thing at the same time. So clean out the casino and win huge. :D

I'll plot out the arc and post it up later this week. And then as we get closer to Smitty getting put into the doc's intensive care unit I might post a thread in the RP discussion board and see if we can get a few more people involved. :)

She has a nose for trouble and could be an added complication for both Sasserri and the Sting

I'm trying to decide how "smart"/"stupid" Smitty is at the moment. So, I'm not sure if he would go directly back to Cloud City. Which is why I haven't posted yet. I'm chewing a bit on some ideas...

Any thoughts on how you want Black Sun to connect him to the cargo? might help me make up my mind what he does with the booty.

Ahhh.... ok, need to think a bit more, but I think he's going to stash it somewhere in the current thread, then pop up in Cloud City all paranoid and looking for a buyer.

Which would lead to a nice capture and interrogation from Black Sun trying to get the location of the goods out of him. :)

I've decided up the number of alien-esque peeps running around the joint.

I've decided he's trying to rebuild and runs a slimy little dive in the lower levels of Port Town. He'll jump at the chance to deal some glitterstim, and he's enough of a backstabber he'll accommodate/assist anything Black Sun does in trying to identify who made off with their cargo.

Not to mention, he's got an ax to grind in Smitty's back. >=}

What are your characters goals? Aside from splitting from BlackSun and creating Black Nebula.

Right now Smitty is trying to be smart by contacting the only person he's certain would be interested in the glitterstim and is not a member of BlackSun. Who he's fairly certain are the owners of the derelict he picked up. He's banking on the idea that Denny doesn't want to be a part of BlackSun OR that BlackSun doesn't want anything to do with Denny. Smitty is also banking on that the spice addicts in the club are too out of it to notice what he's doing. He's not known for drug trafficking and him suddenly having a supply of spice is noticeable.

Denny is pissed off at Smitty because Smitty is the one who brought Mu to Cloud 9 in the first place. He chooses to forget that he chose to bet the bar in the first place.

Meanwhile back at the Docks, Sal is currently chopping up Smitty's freighter just in case they ID'd the ship. I'll be posting that part later today.

So - The Biggest womanizer ship guy in the docks is tearing apart his baby and is suddenly trying to break into drug dealing. Odd behavior for someone known for being ship lover and known drug of choice are the ladies.

We'll say the business run he was returning from was a job for her, she's use to hearing from him, sensing he's avoiding her she's sending you in hopes of finding out if anything went wrong with the shipment.

Instead of finding Smitty you find Sal angry and he spills the beans about the ship they ran off with while complaining about Smitty whacking him with the wrench.

So, that's how Sorsha's gang can find out about the shipment.

Meanwhile Kal and crew could have put the word out to their gang to be on the lookout for anybody unusual trying to dump some spice. Someone in Denny's Den could over hear the conversation and report back to Kal.

Let's put our meeting a little further along in the timeline, say several days after Molly last saw Smitty on the docks. (<a href="http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=17604">which has happened</a>)

- I'm going to have Denny rat Smitty out to Sassy's people directly.

- And then Kal's crew can nab Smitty as he's heading to Cloud 9 to meet with Mu.

- Based on what Molly reports back to Mu, she has a fairly good idea because of the drug angle that he's run amuck of Black Sun, but doesn't know which one of the Vigo's has him, doesn't know if he's dead or alive and also doesn't know how much information he could have spilled about her own operation to them.

So, there's a reason for her to be a bit skittish about Sorsha's sudden request for a meeting, no matter what assurances Molly gave her.

So, I'm gonna run on the premise that Sorsha's got full wind of what's going on, and is going to make Mu aware of the split. She'd be willing to help out Mu with this problem by providing muscle. She no longer feels Sass worth protecting or dealing with on friendly terms. Mu on the other hand, could become a new business partner. ;)

Thus, providing yet another reason why Mu will never ever be able to rejoin the Jedi or even contact them despite that the more she learns about her past the more she wants to.

phase 2 - [in progress] Smitty is nabbed & Mu makes a deal with the devil

phase 3 - The Sassy Setup - shockboxing con game is a diversion so Mu can possibly Jedi voodoo her way to finding him while all spit breaks loose after the fighter fails to take a dive in the appropriate round? Will need Holly's input if that makes sense on how Mu is able to find and get him back. (And make a tidy profit at the same time. ;))

Sorry for being so AWOL lately ^_^;... there's a lot going on on my side of the computer screen these days.

I'd just like to interject to Nebula people - please don't beat up on Sassy too much in your Black Nebula threads because I hardly have time to RP her at all and its really not fair to have a one-sided war with her. I may have to drop her entirely, which I don't want to do, but running Black Sun by myself is extremely difficult with no roleplayed enemies, let alone with Kitty pitting her imagination against me.

Right now my only goal is to get all my open RPs completed before the baby comes (including this story arc, Mu). I really don't know what is going to happen as far as RP goes in April/May and beyond.

I will not be killing off any characters or destroying criminial empires however, so don't even ask. :)

Since, Denny has contacted his spice supplier who works for Sassy and informed them that Smitty is claiming to have enough spice to fill an asteroid for sale that just happens to match her particular "brand"; how's about I write up in the current thread the nabbing from Smitty's perspective?

Then you can start a thread and pick up where your guys start the interrogation to find out where he stashed the cargo. I'll make him particularly uncooperative and smart aleckey so you all have a nice reason to muss him up. :D

I think it's safe to say that between Smitty and the Captain she's a bit preoccupied and wouldn't be completely aware of your presence. She might pick up on something; but because you don't pose a threat to her, she'd brush it off to focus on more urgent matters.

But I'm thinking I want to have Mu case out Sassy's part of the city before she heads back to Kitty to seal a deal.
