The Dark Is Rising

Currently, I'm slowly rereading my favorite set of books, The Dark is Rising sequence. Fabulous books, and an absolute joy to read. If you like the Arthurian legends, these are must-reads for you.

So you can imagine my hopeful curiosity when I came across the news that TDiR has been made into a movie that will be released later this year. I was getting excited, thinking of what it'd be like to see Merriman, the Rider, and Will on the big screen. That is, until I saw the trailer.

Way to go Hollywood. You've raped an amazing set of books, and for the trailer I saw, I don't think I can ever forgive you.

I saw this trailer in front of Harry Potter and didn't know what to make of it except "yay another boy gets powers and saves the world while coming of age fantasy movie trilogy in the making."

Well, it was something like that. Maybe it was more like "Beloved book series? Never heard of it. Hmmm."

Definitely read the books if you haven't. I read them in middle school, and fell in love with them. The four are The Dark is Rising, Greenwitch, The Grey King, and Silver on the Tree.

Saw the preview last night. It looks like it's been done a billion times, but I'll probably get the dvd since I like fantasy films.

The Disney princess comedy that combines animation with real life seemed hilarious though!

Amen to that! Saw the trailer today in front of Harry Potter, saw it before POTC too...each time I've seen it, the audience has been busting out laughing. I'm definitely going to go see it.

Saw it. It wasn't too bad, but I've never read the books. The kiddies staying with me enjoyed it.
