I know we've got a few tabletop players here, so I thought I'd ask you guys to help me understand a set of Force Rules. To me they make no sense, but if someone can dumb them down for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Someone told me yesterday that "The system this uses isn't even original; and it's one of the most complicated calculation systems in existence for an RPG."

So I ask you all; can anyone explain this jumbled mess of words for me?

I play with words, not numbers.

Yeah, I'm a big time tabletopper, and this is trash.

It's some sort of modification on the system used in the original Star Wars d20 game. But, as far as I can tell, it sucks. Anything that adds a great deal of rules is worthless.

This is the exact reason why they released the Saga Edition, and why I am now swearing by it. The rules are great - simple, streamlined, easy to use and play. :D

I used to GM d20 starwars a lot, but my roleplaying group has sadly dispersed. We had many a good moments and still (after 6 years) make fun of each other about certain incidents.

My favorite ones happen to be the 1) Waterfall incident and the 2) Airlock incident.

Back on topic: I tried to understand what was being said there, and I did for the most part. But Terran is right, the rules are far too chunky, I'd say go for the standard d20 rules.

I really need to get the saga edition and see what the changes are.

It's really good.

It was written by the same guy who worked on the originals and who has worked on DnD forever. He wanted something that would be streamlined, and it's supposed to flow better with minature use. I use a laminate map I can write on with dry erase and I use stones/coins for minatures, so I'm not the one to consult on that issue.

I really like the new changes. I posted about what I liked here:

Here's a wikipedia look at it:
