View Full Version : The "Most Awesome" desk in the office...

Ladies and gentlemen, (Oh, and the people who post here, too) I know I've been awful quiet lately, and the truth is that work takes a lot ot of me. Dunno how many of you know, but about a year ago I changed from being an auto mechanic to being a foreclosure analyst.

So, I had to go from an awesome shop to a cubicle. Not a good change for the Mitch.

But, in the spirit of fun, and not getting bored to tears, I slowly started decorating my desk and bringing personal items. Apparently my desk is actually now something of a legend in the office, as being the "most awesome," the "coolest," having "the most stuff they've ever seen on it," as well as many comment that they don't want to leave. (Dunno what they're on, once my shift is over I want nothing more than to be out of there!)

So, as happy as I am with my desk, they're making me change cubicles on Friday, and so I decided to take some photos for posterity. (And to make sure I remember what went where!)

Well, here's my desk. Any comments, questions or laughter are more than welcome.

How many of the paper items on your desk are actually work-related? ;)

By official edict, none.

Nice to see I'm not the only one with the Commissioner Gordon 'Dark Victory' figure.

Is that the Dark Horse 'Conan' statue??

Mitch
Jun 28th, 2007, 11:27:20 PM
It sure is, as well as the Kingdom Hearts II Jafar, and David Tennant as the tenth Doctor. Oh, and my silly purple birthday ninja.

The one with the flag is a ninja?

Mitch
Jun 28th, 2007, 11:37:18 PM
It's supposed to be, I guess. He's not as cool as my What Would Ninjas Do spinner, though.

Yeah I wish I could decorate like that. My workspace is full of work, sad to say.

This probably means they don't want to leave your cubicle and go back to their own, sterile, uniform grey cubicle.

Though if you find someone sleeping under your desk when you come in in the morning, I'd rethink that. :uhoh

Not just candy corn, mutant corn. Rejects and mis-made pieces. I have some odd things...

At least you guys have a desk at work :p

All I have is my toolbelt. But darn it, I do look cute in it :D

Mitch

Several images on that desk will be re-printed in color, including the Ford Interceptor, though I've done some Photoshop work to make it the Krarr Flagline.

Really, I got bored at work, so I tried to always have something interesting to look at to keep me entertained.

'Least you have a toolbelt. I don't even have earphones.

Mitch
Jun 30th, 2007, 08:21:49 PM
I not only have earphones, but a sweet video/music player to hook them up to. Even more distraction from work...

Does servers and two cylinder heads from race cars count as office decoration?

Mitch
Jun 30th, 2007, 09:02:56 PM
No, only tacky novelties and obscure candy. Sorry, Mark. I was rooting for you, but, I don't make the rules...

tehehe. That's too funny!!!:lol

You're desk is awesome, I wish I had a desk.

But, your work must be really cool, at my mom's office they limit what they can have on their desks... my mom can only have one picture frame and one plant or something crazy like that
Her boss is a big jerk though

Mitch

Oddly enough, we can have all the clutter and non work-related stuff we want on our desks, but they limit what actual work-related things we can have out. Then they stress that we shouldn't have too many pieces of paper *on* our desks, so I covered my cubicle walls with paper.

Mitch

It's not. My work is not fun. It's worse than Innetech.

as a temp, I can't really decorate seeing as a job can end at anytime.... :/

but once I find a lasting one, I'll probably put random tinkets all over my desk.....

Just a reminder, once the swear filter is tripped a thread is warned. It remains warned until the offending party edits out the word they used and replaces it with something more appropriate.

If the swear filter is tripped again in a thread the thread is closed. These have been the rules here for years and years.

I don't have a desk... I have to stand all day and make the store look pretty or convince people to buy things they don't need/want

Mitch

I don't have a cubicle, or a desk, or even a space. The only thing I occassionally get that's special is the "11" phone, which is the primary call phone for the "Home Living" section of the Home Department. And I only get that sometimes. I prefer the "12" phone, because no one calls that one. :D

Maybe I can put some stickers on the "11" phone... you know, to spruce it up a little.
