For me it would be the Kingdom Of Heaven Extended Cut dvd, it just feels priceless. Not only is the cut great, the special features are vast and detailed and on top of that, the packaging feels like you are holding a great gem in your collection, neatly packing the 4 DVDs that come in it.

The art on the cover is beautiful too.

From the 400 or so DVDs I own, this is it.

Oh yeah, if you have doubts about getting a collector's edition as opposed to the one disc set and can't find reviews, I'll most likely have it so you cak ask if it's worth it.

Heh, I would have chosen those if I didn't have KOH, but I like the colors/art in KOH more.

I might be interested in KoH more if I'd even remotely liked the movie.

My personal favorite is my Kurosawa, Ran and Madadayo collectors box set. As it was the only way of getting Madadayo on DVD at the time. Large, gorgeous box with limited number imprinted, impressive interior display, wonderful cards detailing each movie, and a Ran shojii screen, too. Incredible presentation for great movies, and the Kurosawa documentary is really nice, too.

Have you watched the extended cut? It adds a whole half hour more and a storyline with Sybilla's son. You also find out what happens to Guy.

That still doesn't drown out the shoddy performance by Bloom, the forced storyline and gut-wrentching PC-ness of it all. Not to mention massive character depth plot-holes.

I thought he was a bit overly naive and passive but generally alright.

I do agree about the PC aspect of it all, no way in hell the king of the Kingdom Of Jerusalem or anyone for that matter would openly discuss religion in any type of balanced manner back in the Crusades. :lol

I did really enjoy the Saladin character, the battles and the haunting performance of Ed Norton, Liam Neeson and Eva Green.

We have a winner!

(funny, I just watched I, Robot again like 10 minutes ago. While the popcorn factor is high, I quite enjoy it)

Didn't think much of the movie. Thought it got way too allegorical towards the end for my tastes. But it was definitely some freaky stuff. Robots are creepy.

I broke 1000 in march of this year, I am at like 1045. Thats not counting screeners (I have 50-60 of these). They are on the bottom shelf of the last bookcases, they are hard to get in the picture, I ussually have to take the picture from the hallway of my office to get everything in.

Anyone remember shoot what was his name it was like dvd fox or something way back in the day I remember he had like 500 dvds when I had like 50, I wonder what he is up to now.

That's a very nice collection, Dizzy!

I'm kinda glad I did not collect, as it's all about HDVD and Blue Ray now.

I only have about 400 dvds so.
How many would you substract from the duplicate dvds you have, sirdizzy? I notice you have the one disc and CEs for a few titles.

I get rid of my simple dvds once i buy the special editions of them, give them away to relatives unless the single disc or whatnot have a special feature that the CE doesn't.

For example, in the original 2 disc Gladiator release, there's a cool and long deleted scene feature that for some reason isn't included in the Gladiator Extended Cut dvd and so I have them both.

I won't start buying HD until I see who wins, Blueray or HD DVD and they're both backward compatible and the resolution in standard DVD is good enough for me anyway, so no big deal.

I'm near 100% sure Bluray will win in the end, because they are backed by most of the industry and every studio except Universal (it's only a question of time). It's also the technological superior format. HD DVD had a leapstart, since the players are cheaper and they launched earlier, but blueray is catching up real quick. In fact, BR is already leading the sales statistics, and the players will drop in price. Blueray won the war before it even started.

I think either format is cool to buy at this point, cause future players will be multi format anyway. As for quality and resolution, if you have a full High Definition TV, watching movies in 1080p over HDMI is absolutely fantastic. Even 720p and 1080i makes for a very noticable difference. But I digress.

I think building a movie collection now is a good time, cause the video resolution of the next generation media is so good, it's about movie theater standard almost. I am very reluctant to buy any more DVD's at this point, cause I know how much better it's going to be on blueray.

DVD's are at some point going to drop in price the same way VHS did though, and that will be a nice opportunity for some bargain bin purchases.

Im not sure about that Yog, the only reason blueray is winning is because of the PS3 and that console is very well doomed.

Pretty much like beta and tape.

I'll wait and see until one announces it's discontinuation.

I thought I had changed the camera settings to 640x480 but I guess not, and then I was too lazy to resize them

and I am not sad I built such a large collections, sure next gen dvds are better but I still have a vast library that I am proud of, I am waiting to see who wins the high def war before committing to either format I don't want to get stuck with a beta player
